Do you think people in east asian societies ever pick up trash voluntarily; like do they see a piece of trash on the ground and think to themselves "that shouldn't be here, I'll put it in the garbage can 20 feet away". I get the distinct impression the only people west of Europe who have any inclinations like this are in japan(hyper autists) and Korea(maybe)

I'm pretty sure Singapore has extremely strict and enforced laws against littering, but otherwise SEA is a mess

I do this every time I go hiking, and I know a lot of other people keep trash things in their car for the same reason.
That said, you sure as hell won't catch me doing that in the city.
Maybe it's location-based.
 
I deliberately litter whenever I am in the city. It literally cannot make anything any worse. The amount of toxic runoff and waste the city produces is already insane and frankly disgusting, the city itself is litter, so what if I add a food wrapper to the pile?

It is funny yet horrifying to think this was the least disgusting area they could find to serve as an appropriate backdrop for wedding photos. I've never even personally seen a place this foul outside of landfills and homeless encampments.
