AITA subreddits are basically r/nosleep for dumber people.
What I hate most about that place, more than how 99% of the stories suck is how people have to stay in character and treat the stories as true events. No constructive criticism is allowed, so no wonder the writing never improves...

Yeah, it's pretty gay. The sub had some genuinely good, well written, captivating stories, and it used to be possible to find them by sorting by all time top upvotes. But then peddit changed the way they counted upvotes to fuck with r/thedonald, and posts made after that had waaaaayyy more upvotes counted towards the total score, so these older stories are now buried under an avalanche of boring horseshit and pretty much impossible to find.

I must have missed this. What did they do to change the upvotes? And I'm not surprised the changed something like that just to mess with one subreddit.

I guess now all the "thinly" veiled revenge stories get to have the spotlight.

This was years ago, sometime before the 2016 US presidential elections, and it wasn't to fuck with r/nosleep, that was just collateral damage. It affected every sub. r/the_donald was dominating the frontpage (r/all), because it was genuinely the most active sub on all of peddit. This made the tranny jannies and admins extremely mad. To stop that, they first disabled upvotes on stickied posts from counting towards their total "score" (r/t_d mods did habitually abuse that), but it didn't help, so they changed the entire algorithm.

Basically, on any given reddit post, the number of upvotes is not actually real. There's some kind of algorithm that "counts" fewer and fewer upvotes the older the post is, so upvoting an older post doesn't have the same impact as upvoting a new one. I don't think the details of exactly how it works are public, and there are probably some other variables in play.

Anyway, the point is, before the change, if a post got +10k upvotes, it was big. +15k was crazy. But after the change, it was common for newer posts to get +50k and more, and to stick to Nosleep, it became common for stupid drivel like "Don't Open The Door If A Rape Demon Rings The Bell At 3 AM Because He Will Rape You (Part 34)" to get +10k. So any highly upvoted posts from before the change got buried, because the algorithm change was not applied retroactively, older posts kept their old scores.

I fucking hate retards who cut off chicken skin
There are a few legitimate use cases for chicken sans skin, mainly dietary. But unless you're on a strict calorie controlled diet or you're doing 5:2 intermittent fasting and you happen to be on a fast day, there's no excuse not to eat the most delicious part of the chicken.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=V77EeBZ9LMw Lol, reddit manchild had a temper tantrum over the wrong homemade birthday cake.
It doesn't seem like an obviously fake post, so I think it warrants the question: how the fuck are you in your mid-thirties and throwing a shit-fit over a cake? On the other hand, how the fuck are you over 30 making fucking Youtube videos of this shit? And being obviously excited about the subject? What the fuck is wrong with these people? Were I in either position, I would shoot myself in the fucking head. Twice.

I'm seriously mad at the internet right now. I need to go calm down. Fucking hell.

I meant them doing that to screw over r/the_donald, but this was just as petty and stupid as I expected.

And boy I hate those stories that have fifty parts to them. They'd all do so much better as oneshots, or maybe just two or three spots. It's those "revenge" stories that make me roll my eyes the most. The ones that are basically just about a racist or an abusive husband or something being murdered by a monster or a battered wife. Not horror at all, just an excuse to kill off a bad person that totally isn't based off someone the writer knew in real life.

These vegan nutjobs make me sad tbh. I believe they actually have real empathy, but also some kind of cognitive damage that makes them unable to use that empathy in a constructive way.
They don't, that's the thing. They have what narcissists consider empathy, which manifests as theatrical freakouts over perceived injustices, usually imaginary ones.

Empathy is just the ability to see things from another person's perspective, it's not any more complicated than that. It's not hard to understand why a crackhead would break into someone's house and steal random shit - he needs money for his next fix, and it's the entire world to him, literally nothing else matters from his point of view. It's also not hard understand why a redditor would make up a story that makes xim look like a fucking retard who should be gassed: these humiliation rituals actually increases their social value in their sad little pseudosocial circles.

What many people don't understand about empathy is that wishing the worst on people like this doesn't mean you're unempathetic. Understanding doesn't mean approval. The people who keep pretending it does have no empathy at all, it's just their attempt at making themselves look good. As much as I hate the term "virtue signaling" for how overused it is, it fits here.

I don't think most vegans are actually interested in converting people to their cause. They're far more interested in feeling good about themselves and lecturing other people.

Also, "imagine getting boiled alive".
These dudes act like animals are out there dying in the animal ICU surrounded by their loved ones.

Haha, fuck no, in the wilds those crabs are gonna get crushed to death by a shark or torn apart live by an otter or pecked apart by a seagull or some shit. I might even argue that in many cases the human causes the swiftest, least painful death.

There's debate if lobsters and crabs even have complex enough brains to register pain. I've boiled many lobsters and I've never seen them try to escape.

Whatever you do, don't show them puffers vs crustaceans.
