All the reviews this year, seem to be ones that were are online the same day. Guessing for now they won't do any reviews for stuff that just hit cinemas only.
Well with his AIDS Rich can't very well go out in public and get the Kung flu.

Just saw that The Rocketeer was trending, only bringing this up here because I swear RLM is the only notable outlet that's ever covered this film. Gonna be getting a sequel on Disney+ called The Return of the Rocketeer, I'm sure it'll be a disaster but curious about what Mike and Jay's thoughts will be

with Ricourt’s story focusing on a retired Tuskegee airman who takes up the Rocketeer mantle
Ok, so it's still the same general time period as the first movie?

Color me very cautiously optimistic about this.

In terms of going with a woke premise, focusing on the Tuskegee airmen at least feels like a reasonable starting off point. Definitely helps that it'll be a period piece, if it didn't elaborate the details I'd expect much worse upon hearing "Disney+ exclusive Rocketeer movie"

And after just a bit of research I see that there was a short lived Disney junior series based on the movie in 2019, simply called "The Rocketeer". Really odd that they've suddenly been trying to revitalize the IP, because it looks like the cartoon wasn't even that successful.

I'm just worried that Rich won't be able to stop himself and call it The Niggerteer' during the review, over and over

Or at the very least say the movie is nigger-tier.

I was meaning to discuss that infamous phrase.
It was hyperbole then. George Lucas didn't set out to hurt anyone.

But the phrase really rings true these days. Kathleen Kennedy and her lackeys intentionally did things to hurt the longtime fans.

If someone these days unironically said The Last Jedi or whatever "raped their childhood", I would no longer cringe.
Nah it’s still cringe. People who take bad media as a personal slight against them need to grow thicker skin, and if a bad installment of a franchise you like “ruined your childhood”, then chances are, you didn’t have much of a childhood.

It didn't rape my childhood but Rise of Skywalker did rape my sense of good taste and quality writing as well logic as a concept.

I'm late to this but it was really bugging me with Honorable Men because the release date said 2004 but it looked like it was filmed in the 90s, I was hoping for a clue to point to when it was filmed and fortune smiled on with me with the scene where they're seeing the movie Never Been Kissed, so it was filmed in 1999.

Rich: Hey Mike did you know Disney made a cartoon show of The Rocketeer?

Mike: Really? That sounds like a great idea. You could do it in an old Art Deco style similar to the comics so it fits the time period and tone. And making it animated allows you to do whatever your imagination desires. You could have Cliff Secord jet around fighting Nazi war machines based off old WWII prototypes and use the medium to create exaggerated characters that help sell the tone of the show. It could be a way for parents and children to enjoy the character and setting while allowing children to segway into all the classic WWII and old Hollywood movies from the Golden Age of Cinema. What streaming platform is this wonderful cartoon available on Rich?

Rich: Its on Disney Jr. Its for preschoolers and meant to sell baby toys.

Mike: [Stares forlornly into the abyss]

Blomkamp's career arc is so weird. The Shyamalan comparison Jay made is kind of accurate, with the exception that Blomkamp hasn't, so far, made a movie that's just him bitching about his critics like Lady in the Water.

I didn't pay attention to anything they said about the movie and that was probably for the best seeing as how bad people think it is
Yeah, that's the hurdle that independent movies have to get over genre films. It's really hard to get people to care without that foot in the door.

Blomkpamp's made a lot of duds since District 9 but it's gotta hit him hard when he's being interviewed by F-tier review channels via zoom.

RLM should let Scientist Man do a youtube movie reviewer checklist where they go through the bare minimum needed to not be a faggot online. Even in the early Bag days they had a setup and effort for a review. Bonus points for making fun of MovieBlob.

That sounds like a lot of effort for guys who constantly say they think online outrage and e-celeb behavior are beyond pathetic and not worth worrying about. I was surprised Mike even did the sniping he did in the Force Awakens Plinkett review.
