Seeing Stewart interviews in the past few years made me lose a lot of respect for him in that I think he'd rather be a dashing action hero than a respected and wise diplomat.
George would cruelly shut down Anthony Daniels whenever the actor tried to ad-lib.

Then you see Daniels at conventions and you understand why.

I really hate hearing actors speak outside their role 9/10 times. Actually, I think I hate most people who try to be bigger than their roles like actors, comedians, designers, directors etc.. That's why I love RLM. Those boys stay in their lane and don't try too hard to make a serious point. The orange man and Brexit for Stewart brought out the worst in people I used to enjoy. They say to separate the art from the artist, but I still feel weird about humming along to a Michael Jackson song, y'know? Someone smarter than me could probably describe those easier

Charming people is what actors do. They also have publicists to sweep any scandals under the rug.

If I see a movie star making an ass out of themselves at the airport, or choking out women in broad daylight, I just assume they are the worst.

Patton Oswalt's famous rant against George Lucas and the prequels happened in 2007, a full two years before the Plinkett Phantom menace review. The hate against the prequels had been very well established by the time RLM decided to codify it with a formal critique.

Hell, before I even saw Phantom Menace a friend suggested I focus on Palpatine to get some entertainment from it.

Hey you nerdy faggots - take it to the trek thread where we belong.

Ian has been fairly open about how one-dimensional Palpy is.

At least in ROTJ, he had some surprises up his sleeve: dressing like a feeble old man, greeting Vader as a friend rather than the standard "rise, worm/filth."

Going off on tangents about Star Trek is very fitting for an RLM thread.

I was meaning to discuss that infamous phrase.
It was hyperbole then. George Lucas didn't set out to hurt anyone.

But the phrase really rings true these days. Kathleen Kennedy and her lackeys intentionally did things to hurt the longtime fans.

If someone these days unironically said The Last Jedi or whatever "raped their childhood", I would no longer cringe.
This is one of the ways in which our modern culture is utterly dire, in the past people would make a bad movie but they were trying to make a good one, today people intentionally make shit out of spite.

Watching a lot of 90s and 2000s movies today, even when they're bad, there's just something so refreshingly innocent about their desire to just entertain you, yesterday's junk is today's treasure because at least it wasn't made by people that hate you and wish you were dead.

The Prequels may be bad movies but I can understand people's reacting to them positively in today's climate of Star Wars now being in the hands of people who hate you.

I think you get more out of it if you're a fan of Lynch.
I was legit impressed by his question about Blinky Watts, too bad that seemed to be the only question about On The Air.

Patreon update:

Hey everyone. We're currently working on the next Half in the Bag, which is mainly a review of the new Neill Blomkamp film that you may or may not know even came out called Demonic! Because why not?? We also go on a side discussion about our thoughts so far on the newest season of American Horror Story. Again, because why not? Movies are a mess and nothing matters!

A kind-of longer term project we've been working on here and there in between other videos is re-watching (or watching for the first time in some cases) all of John Carpenter's films since Jay and Rich are planning to do a re:View episode ranking all of them. No idea when that will actually be shot since it's been time consuming, but it'll probably be coming up sometime soon. Soon-ish?
