Am I the only one that feels that RLM has started to lose it? I haven't really enjoyed anything they've done for at least a year now.

I'm really considering just unsubscribing. I don't know if I'm just growing out of it or they have just gotten worse or what but I barely get a chuckle or any insight into anything they do now.
This last year has been really tough on them.

I never liked that guy. Was he ever funny? He just kind of sat there looking disapproving and tired.
Jim was boring in 4-person setups but he was pretty good on Re:view. Colin is god-tier good boy on his own for sure, though.

People whinging about art from artist (except when they do it) are also gay, however. Jim is an absolute faggot on his twitter, but I still find his Re:view good and wouldn't mind him doing more. He's got a nice flavor he brings to that 2-person dynamic, whereas he's always crowded out in 4.

that I usually suck off
I've had mixed feelings on them for as long as I've watched them.
a regular guest star on a show they do holds a viewpoint on a situation that is different from mine.
The Canadian guy gloating about people being fired goes beyond having a different viewpoint, it makes it difficult to enjoy episodes with him in knowing that he's a hypocrite that would support deplatforming the RLM guys if he weren't friends with them. And the reason I (and I imagine probably most other people) dislike Jack and Josh has nothing to do with their politics - it's because they're painfully awkward and unfunny, they make the content worse by being there.

The one funny moment I remember him was while they were watching Geteven and he's an ok Re:View partner since he has actual experience working in movies.

But other than that he's dead weight, I also notice he's not made an appearance since 2019, so hopefully he's not invited back and he can get a taste of his own medicine if he thinks cancel culture is acceptable.

I sure hope that laughing at this racist attack on Asians doesn't become widely known and ruin his career

TBH I'm starting to hate all of the RLM crew. They're hypocritical shitlib scumbags with vastly over inflated egos and are generally more lazy and incompetent than the other film makers they rag on.
If AIDs, Beardfat, the Canadians eta really gave a shit about social justice they probably wouldn't provide free labour for an internet video series that has a history of racist and sexist humour. They literally cheer people losing their careers for far less than what they themselves have gotten away with. And fuck Mike, Jay and Rich for being slightly less vocal versions of these cunts.
Mike and Jay pretty clearly know SJW culture is bullshit, I wish they would take more of a stance against it, but it's ok that they don't, unlike SJWs I don't demand everyone pick a side.

I do hope they understand though how genuinely dangerous this shit is becoming and that some bad fucking shit is coming down the pike because of it, they do tend to have a detached and above it all air about them and I hope they realize that one of these days they probably are going to be forced to pick a side.

yeah it's not like i find them offensive or anything but I just notice I pay less attention to BOTW now cause they just don't have as many funny moments to me.

kind of hope it's just a slump from the virus, but the fact that any funny moments lately have been a result of Tim, who is the relatively "new guy", it leads me to think there's burnout more than anything.
I don't know. Not to say the guys aren't getting tired, but maybe it's just burnout on your part? Any comic can start to feel old if you've been overexposed. I thought they put a lot of effort into their corona content this year. I felt so much catharsis in the episodes where they had the house full of mannequins and chicken wire, and the Verotika episode where Mike goes through that extended sanitizing bit. And the beginning of their Wonder Woman review, and the end of their latest BOTW were both very high effort endeavors.

Really I feel like 2020 was better for them content wise than 2019 which was kind of anemic. I'd put the Rona saga up there with the Lake Michigan in terms of effort and quality. I mean, I liked Big Gay Wedding, but it drug on and on. Plus we got Boomer Fight this year. Epic.

They've got a solid audience now, maybe they're just more comfortable framing their discussions around analysis, and then actually putting those drier moments in the videos, and not constantly rifling through their brains turning everything into jokes.

EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLE POSTING

i'm not saying their production values have gone down, i'm talking pure humor. on top of that i mentioned how i don't get much out of their analysis anymore either.

Yeah I'm feeling the same way too. They haven't done anything to get me to stop watching, but I keep feeling apathetic whenever they put out a new video. The videos in the last year have kinda blended together for me for the most part. I can only think of one thing that bugged me in the last year about RLM and it was the Half in The Bag on Borat 2. They talked about a scene in the original movie where a lady takes Borat upstairs to teach him how to use the toilet after he came downstairs to the dinner table with a bag of poop. Both Mike and Jay insinuate that the Lady is a bigot for doing this even though The lady told Borat where the bathroom was and only when he came down with a bag of poop, only then is when she taught him how to use the toilet.

Spoiler Alert: Mike, Jay and Rich are normies who have normie views about shit. Mike is such a mainstream normie fag that he produced several videos praising JJ Abrams and started the meme that Abrams would be a good director for Star Wars. You should not expect any of them to either be smart or savvy enough to point out intricate social nuances in films.

Yes, not everyone can be as enlightened as an autistic neet who browses /pol/.

They need to start editing for content again. Obviously the payout is nice on YouTube if you make hour long videos since that increases the amount of ad breaks and viewer retention, but it harms the videos from a quality perspective. I've already mentioned how I don't think they can carry a BOTW for an hour anymore unless one or more of the movies is completely bugfuck crazy like Ryan's Babe, but Half in the Bag being that long is ridiculous even with three movies. The sweet spot in my opinion is twenty minutes to a half an hour for Half in the Bag and RE:View, and maybe forty five or fifty minutes for a Best of the Worst. But I think they need to retire or retool both series soon and maybe start something new.

On the other hand, that 'The Kid Detective' video I posted yesterday was pretty alright as far as content length goes, it got me interested to actually watch a movie, which is rare, and there were a few zingers I liked. They still make good videos, it's just not laugh out loud funny like it was in the heydays of Best of the Worst.

And the reason I (and I imagine probably most other people) dislike Jack and Josh has nothing to do with their politics - it's because they're painfully awkward and unfunny, they make the content worse by being there.
But their political views are a major part of what makes them painfully awkward and unfunny in the RLM setting.

You can't properly integrate their progressive-speak couched attempts at jokes that don't offend anyone and wouldn't be out of place in L.A. with the edgy flyover schlub humor the rest of the guys are doing.

I've also gotten less interested in their content, I used to rewatch BOTW regularly and now I can't even be assed to watch most episodes as they come out, I think for me it's less because of the guests (my enthusiasm survived Max Landis) and more because I got too used to the kind of movie that ends up there. These low-budget horror/sci-fi movies really blend together (I watch a lot of those in my own time just as white noise) and a lot of them are just really boring outside maybe one or two weird scenes. MST3K used to have the same problem for me.

I mean, if they get kicked off of Youtube, RLM is pretty much done, right?

So I'm guessing they are keeping their noses down to keep their livelihoods. I can at least understand that when you an adult with presumably families (I have no idea about their personal lives).

The only thing that bothers me is their outlet has become way, way less frequent, especially in the case of Best of The Worst, but I blame that on coronavirus so it's easily understandable, whenever they do put out a new video I still enjoy it immensely.

Over the last year I would say Verotika was a really great episode, that was a perfect blend where the skits were funny and the movie itself was just the right amount of unique weirdness and funny.

I, too, am starting to hate an internet group that I usually suck off because a regular guest star on a show they do holds a viewpoint on a situation that is different from mine.
I got no problem with the others guys, my problem is with Jim, he is supporting the modern day gestapo, this makes him at best woefully misguided and at worst flat out evil.

I've had mixed feelings on them for as long as I've watched them.

The Canadian guy gloating about people being fired goes beyond having a different viewpoint, it makes it difficult to enjoy episodes with him in knowing that he's a hypocrit that would support deplatforming the RLM guys if he weren't friends with them. This is one of the reasons why I don't want Jim back, if he's a cancel culture supporter inviting someone like that on the show is like inviting a fox into the hen house, those people are dangerous, they're literally like members of a cult.

I mean, if they get kicked off of Youtube, RLM is pretty much done, right?

That's why I'm ok with them keeping their noses down and not making a stand, it's already clear enough that they're not drinkers of the Kool-Aid just by virtue of the fact that they called Ghostbusters 2016 out for being the shitty movie that it was, called out the anti-Joker hysteria for being ridiculous bullshit and didn't give Captain Marvel a glowing review just because it starred a woman.

True blue SJWs all talk exactly the same, all have exactly the same opinions on everything and always wear their support of SJW causes on their sleeve at all times, you can spot those assholes from a mile away.

Based on their quick and mild political opining, Mike strikes me as casually unwoke. He’s looks like the kid with the pen in his mouth thinking out loud.
I suspect Jay is utterly disinterested and shuns politics. He’s the kid who just wants to get the homework done.
My memory ain’t what it used to be so I may have them flipped.

I watch RLM videos as soon as I see they are available... except, I admit, BotW videos. (I watch those too, but I take my time getting to them.) They're just too long for consumption on the go, and each episode really lives or dies based on the movies they end up watching. If the movies are too terrible to be funny, the guys can't do much with it no matter how on point they and guests are.

What's mostly happening, I think, is similar to what happens to great, long-running video game series. You keep getting the same good/great thing over and over again, and over time you start talking it for granted. In a sense it's not really the fault of the creators, but it still makes the audience lose interest.

Which makes me wish they would give us more variety in the "shows" they put out... maybe one new show and more frequent non-BotW stuff would be enough. (As if it were that easy...) If people you like are doing stuff you like, the fact that you don't love this other thing they do is not that important.

Any Joe Bob fans catch the hardcore R-rated version of Tammy and the T.Rex during the Valentine marathon? Holy shit, not what the crew saw on BotW.

It's possible but they don't do anything that would ever get them kicked off the platform. It does bring to light just how much their entire business hinges on 1 single platform. It's never good to have all your eggs in 1 basket. I'm not really sure how they could remedy that though. We saw game grumps do that with all their little spin off businesses and it all sucks. But they really should have some sort of exit plan in place. They have a studio and editing experience, they could make something work.

Stop injecting politics into everything.
If you can't enjoy something unless its creators share your political beliefs, you are the exact fucking same as the people you've probably spent genuine hours a year bitching about.

Just getting fatigued with the series is whatever, take a break. You'll live without it, trust me.

Why do you guys care so much about their political opinions?
How do they factor into what they're doing exactly?
They're neckbeard nerds who laugh at bad movies and make dumb skits.

Everything has gotten so politicized that even one of the least political channels on Youtube has to go through an internet purity test.
Chill out, guys.
