Oh boy, a new Guest Star BotW to skip in the future. I do hope that Plinkett is at least getting wife murdering tips from Patton.

I assume I’m super late and gay to this, but what’s the story with Jack? I assumed that he was sorta shifting away from RLM to focus more on the Escapist stuff, though in this video he says, “...As somebody who’s recently been fired, that sucks [that Stadia may be shut down].” What’s the backstory on this? Or is this more behind-the-scenes stuff that isn’t quite public knowledge.

I doubt he was fired from RLM. I'd be very surprised if he was. I got the impression he was a contractor and worked in editing and VFX.

When future generations sift through the smoldering rubble of postmodern America, they would do well to locate a hard drive with RedLetterMedia content on it. They could study Mike and Jay and, with that thin slice of information, fully understand what it is that killed western civilization.

Those two are bitter, cynical nihilists. They have devoted their lives, the prime years of productivity, to pithily lampooning cultural ephemera and implying "we could do better than these idiot filmmakers, but we're too cool to actually try."

They are every strain of societal AIDS melded together into a super AIDS of cultural death...

Well into middle age, they're still obsessively analyzing adventure stories for children. They're childless, unmarried, stubbornly avoiding an actual profession, opting instead to beg for Patreon donations. They are subsisting on the patronage of even more embittered, more lonely, more cynical losers who need virtual friends to swim in their vast Petri dish of misery with them.

Look in their fucking eyes, man. It's a joyless, pointless existence they're living.

They are so afraid of sincerity or honest artistic effort that they'll leave behind hours of footage of them chuckling about Tommy Wiseau. They are artistic cowards and abject failures in every respect.

Each time you catch a glimpse of them, you're reminded that we peaked as a civilization a long time ago. We're done creating. We're done feeling real emotions. All we can do now is analyze, criticize, and ironically pick through the dessicated corpse of our once great nation.

I hope on the day that footage is uncovered by future archaeologists, they resolve to never repeat the mistakes we made.
Found the Zack Snyder fan.

Jack is not an official employee of RedLetterMedia, Mike, Jay, and Rich are the only three that can be "fired"

tldr

Mike and Jay boo

Rich Evans yay

They even mention it beforehand, how the movie was made to surpass critique and be lauded with empty praise. "MeN aRe TrAsH"!
I listened to the review last night, it seems under emphasized with editing but Mike maintained throughout that he's unclear on how much of the movie is intentionally brilliant which is interesting. He doesn't waffle that much normally.

Because the reality is that it could be a situation where a sufficiently woke and young production team cobbled together things they had seen before willy nilly and stamped that around this narrative (almost like a cinematic M60), which I think is what Mike isn't saying more clearly since he really doesn't want to be the subject of another quarter pounder video.

I'm curious to say the least though.

Watched around 2/3 of the video, what's the point of watching American films anymore if every one of them is about how you are evil for being white and male?
So you can make a career out of complaining on YouTube. Bitching about woke misandry to the camera has paid for a lot of chickie tendies.

You missed out on a Rich Evans "Oh my God!!!" cameo. Other than that, none of these movies seemed that interesting to me.
I took one look at that list and thought "Jay must be picking the movies again." Remember when he reviewed a movie that was nothing but some faggot capering around in a ghost sheet for two hours?

Just like the Cinemassacure james rolf and others.

Its one thing to be a arm chair critic but I kinda wish guys would write a script or something.

The third movie seemed the most interesting.
In a Best of the Boring kind of way, yes. There's a case to be made that blandly competent is worse than being outrageously incompetent and that's what these movies sound like to me. I get that it's because they want to boost the profile of these mid-budget movies, but I just don't care even though I'm tired of capeshit. Synchronicity just looks like a bland version of Quantum Leap, that rape-revenge movie treads dangerously close to propaganda, and all I know about the third movie is that Rich Evans is in it kinda. Hard pass on all these movies.

They refer to Space Cop in this review and they do have a small filmography of shitty movies like Gorilla Interrupted and Feeding Frenzy.

Surprised by how much they liked Promising Young Woman aka "smash the patriarchy" the movie.

From what I’ve heard outside their review, the film at least tries to be a bit more thoughtful by having most of the characters, especially the protagonist, being very morally ambiguous. I’m not going to fully defend the film as if it’s flawless, given how I haven’t seen it myself. Though at the very least, I don’t think it sounds as bad as a film like 2019’s Black Christmas, which was not only a far more blatant “smash the patriarchy” “all men are trash”-type film, but was just downright insulting for everyone who watched it.

If this is the quality of movies out right now they should just review some TV shows instead or do more Re:Views

Hard disagree. The weirder and more obscure the thing they review, the more I'm interested in what they have to say. Because I can't just go to any YouTube troll to hear someone talking about the acting in MONEY PLANE. You want a review criticizing ghost rape in WonderWoman 1984? You can find that anywhere, (not to say I didn't like their review.)

I've rewatched their Blumhouse Presents review like, twice already.

Remember not to fall behind on your child support. Wrap your scepter, you alcoholic jester.

What's beardfat? I've always figured he was some editor that they got on from time to time when they needed a fill and no-one else was around. He seems like he'd be a chill friend, he's just not that funny of a dude.

Variety is RLM's secret to success, so I think their constantly switching things up and ping-ponging helps them to stay fresh and fun.
