Anyone else get this message on RLM videos now? I was trying to just run the autoplay on some BOTW, but at the start of some episodes I now have to manually click this. RIP autoplay. 20200927_001037_405.jpg

I get it too.

But it seems like that one episode is the only one that triggers it. Skimming through the other videos I never got that warning again.

My guess is Faust triggered it. Especially the breast expansion/breast & ass puddle scene.
 
I could have sworn at least one other video had it, but I can't find it. Maybe it's a roll out of some new "feature" and other age-restricted videos are going to get it?

Who knew the year 2020 was predicted in 1993?

But to be fair, my great grandfather died of the "Chinese flu" in the 1950s, so I feel like Simpsons may have been referencing something like that when it comes to the idea of an Asian flu.

There have been plenty of Asian flus throughout history, and the riot at the end is a reference to the 1992 LA one.

The Simpsons writers aren't prescient, history just keeps repeating itself over and over again.
 
I think it says a lot about our society the state of things when Mike would rather watch all of the Simpsons and it's many MANY years worth of shitty episodes rather than deal with nuTrek.

There was apparently an outbreak of a "Hong Kong Flu" in 1968 that ended up killing over a million people worldwide.
We don't hear about that these days but it happened.
The writers probably remembered that from their childhoods or their parents told them about it.

Pretty much. How many large scale riots have there been since the LA riots? A shitton.

I still remember the Cincinatti race riots in the early 2000's which were very swiftly memory holed by the media.

Kinda sorta related to prequel movies (which are usually pointless and obnoxious): unnecessary backstories within movies.

Did Willy Wonka need a backstory in Tim Burton's (horrible) remake? No, all you need to know about his character was explained in a few seconds in the original movie when Gene Wilder pretended to fall, then landed on his feet.

Even the Grinch got a backstory in the Jim Carrey movie. Why? He's the Grinch who hates Christmas. Why does he need some childhood trauma to explain his grinchiness?

Great characters don't need backstory, we understand them by the things they do to move the plot:

This is one of the reasons the Coen Brothers are consistently superior to other filmmakers, there's an economy to their writing, their shit is tight.
