I think what also sunk The Exorcist III was simply being called... The Exorcist III.

Given the awful reputation of the second movie, simply calling the third movie The Exorcist III implied some sort of official acknowledgement of the second one, that it was "canon" even if the movie itself turned out to completely ignore it.

Why they didn't call the movie "The Exorcist: Legion" or "Legion: The Exorcist" or something inspired by the original novel sequel's title is a head scratcher, but for whatever reason back in the day Hollywood felt like sequels just had to have numbers in the title.

There's been a turn around in horror as of late but it lies with the Indies like Get Out and Hereditary/Midommsar.

There's been something of a renaissance but nothing on the level of a cultural event like The Exorcist was, as they point out in the video the last movie to do that was The Blair Witch Project and nothing has came close in the 20 years since that movie.

Indies like Hereditary/Midommsar might get a lot of attention within filmbuff fandom, but how much money do they make compared to a Conjuring* sequel/spinoff or something like that?

*I saw the first Conjuring and it was ok, but nothing great, I really kind hate all of the loud noises in modern horror movies like that, it's irritating, not scary.

I think IT was as close to a mainstream event as is possible nowadays (and it was very big), but that is yet another overly-praised just okay film. That said, modern society doesn't really allow for films to have the resonance that they once did because they get forgotten more quickly. It's why Marvel has been so successful escaping that by doing its cinematic universe shit.

I remember seeing Exorcist: The Beginning on HBO about a year after it came out and wanting to put my foot through the TV. Not only was doing a prequel to The Exorcist completely pointless, but it lacked any of the subtlety or realism that made the original work. This had hack ass horror movie written all over it from the word go and that's what we got. The "twist" reveal left me laughing my ass off. I wanted to be angry, but I was laughing so hard, I couldn't control myself.

Was it anything like this?

The Previously Recorded twitter account tweeted that Jack is working on solo stuff:

So we're officially at the point of RLM not using r-tard anymore. I don't know when it started but they bleeped it in the last nerd crew vid and now used regal in this review. And you can tell they don't really want to have to do it but it's probably one of those youtube algorithm/advertiser things they feel they have to do it. Anyway this movie looks bat shit crazy and I get where Mike is coming from with kind of admiring it, though. From the looks of it Travolta plays a pretty convincing tard/mentally ill person. I feel like Jay was right though to point out the rocking was probably him trying to portray autism whereas Mike thought it was more like the rocking a person in a straight jacket in a padded room does. This character feels more autistic then anything. I don't usually side with Jay on reviews but I'm going to on this one, I'm not seeing much value here and it looks bad. Watching the clips was enough for me, I can't image sitting through a whole movie with that much cringe and fake autism. Also felt kind of bad when Mike said I get it in regards to the celebrity guy's feelings of wanting the crazy fan to go away. Wonder how many real life regal fans have come up to him screaming what's wrong with your faaaaace. Dude probably doesn't even go to the store anymore.

I know this post was from the 25th, but I just saw this episode today and I think as to Travolta's acting, it looked pretty good. I was wondering if he was inspired by his late son, Jett or people he'd met through Jett.
Jett had autism and seizures, as well as a few other things, so I felt that John's acting would have been rooted in some intimate reality. I feel that's why he took that role, more than it just being for the experience or whatever.

I sorta found the assumption by the guys that it was just a "wacky acting experience" for John, a kinda lazy assumption, tbh. I don't even like movies, John Travolta or tardbabies that much and even I knew John's son was a tardbaby.

Josh has his haters, but for my money Jack is making a strong play for weakest link in the RLM chain:

Jack definitely doesn't offer much insight, but as a 'responder' (making shocked gummy-mouthed faces, and laughing) he's a good foil in BOTW and I wouldn't be without him. Definitely not interested in his opinions in more intimate formats, however.

First Lupa and now MovieBob? Yiiiiiikes. lol.

Also, I'm not interested in Previously Recorded. For me, that series totally fell flat. Jack and Rich didn't have much chemistry at all. And Jack is best utilized in Best of the Worst to make silly faces at silly things that happen with the crap they watch, and not much else.

Looks like doing BotW for literally free isn't paying as well as it used to (lol) and he's now hurredly networking for his solo restart of PreRec, which is weird in itself because it always seemed like of the two, Rich was the one who really cared about video games while Jack merely consumed them.

I mean....No one will pay for Aids Moby especially since he has endorsed noted eugenicist bob chipman

One of my favorite parts of Exorcist III is when Detective Kinderman is visiting his friend Father Dyer in the hospital and they get into a bit of an argument, Kinderman gets a little heated causing a nurse to step inside the room and ask if everything's all right and Kinderman growls out with a very George C. Scott-style "WE'RE FIIIIINE!"

well, that and this moment

Jack bringing back Preveiously Recorded makes sense, there was never any reason for him to stop streaming. I'm sure he has a room in his house he can use it's not like he NEEDED the RLM warehouse for that. And anytime anyone brought it up he implied it wasn't his choice to stop. If he wants his own streaming show whatever, I won't watch it but I'm glad he has a choice to do it if that's what he wants. I generally don't mind jack BUT I hate all the crossovers he does. It cheapens the brand. I can't forgive him for going on that hag Allison's shit movie podcast. He lost a lot of cred on that one.

In fairness they probably didnt know what a Rape enthusiast Max was
Max was only on the show because he obsessively tweeted at them like a fanboy. It was fucking weird. And they were still at that point where they were open to that sort of thing, they don't seem like they are anymore. I hope they learned their lession about letting just anyone on a panel. I still don't really care for culk either.
