A quick look at the archives shows they consider them as much a friend simulator as everyone else, except ofc the aforementioned spergs. I mean, /tv/'s 4Chan Cup roster even has (nazi) Mike on the team. Every over the top shit opinion about the crew is 100% quaranteed to be an old pasta, like the ones about Jessi using Patreon money to buy jewlery, something about RLM being a reflection of Gen-Z or X or whatever humour, Jay and Mike being pathetic and too old to break into the movie making industry and so on.

But the markets where TLJ underperformed the worst vs. TFA were all places with lots of PoC. (South America and all of Asia outside of Japan). The hate boner China in particular had for TLJ is why Solo was out of theaters in two weeks as much as any other reason. White critics this, white critics that, "cinephilia(?)" don't have shit to do with any of that. Never mind "cishet," given that China bans overt displays of homosexuality in permitted media.

Mauler is garbage.

Mauler is a sped who vomited a coredump of any negativity about the movie, and thought he was being deep by ranting for four hours over 2 minutes' worth of looped bootleg footage. I watched his whole fucking tirade, and he even admitted that he was wrong numerous times in the name of "so i admit i was wrong, never mind." Motherfucker, this is why you don't race to be first. There's nothing remotely academic about what you've done. But yeah, I guess a lot of spergs are going to say "omg this video is so long! he must really know what he's saying!" So. Fucking. Quite the opposite.

But I'm new here. Not trying to make enemies or anything. Whatever.

I think it's more a combination of how busy RLM is now compared to when they did their prequel reviews and the amount of work that goes into the Plinkett stuff. As good as Mauler's points are, his review is the opposite of tightly edited. We did get some unique insights (especially the comparison of its structure to that of a slapstick comedy) and the short film "The Wine Tasting," which is probably going to be a meme all on its own. I also suspect there was a lot of behind-the-scenes debating on whether to do the review at all, since it's stupidly become a political litmus test, which is the sort of thing RLM has avoided like the plague since the beginning.

RLM basically wants to stay out of it as much as possible and make fun of dumb shit. You always get that sense, see:


They want to 100% stay the fuck out of it and just say their opinions without the drama of it. That's basically a message to both sides saying 'Please stop, we don't want to talk about this. Leave us alone'.

Of course the salt is going to fucking flow because everyone loves RLM, now they're shitting over their favorite Star Wars movie who they like only because whom they feel misogynists don't like.

Same shit's going on with RLM here. They want to make funny videos. They don't otherwise give a damn about Internet drama. They've made that clear. They even put out their own "'16 Ghostbusters sucks" video void of mentioning feminism. Yet there's this absurd notion that because a movie has been politically fought over, it cannot be criticized. Whoever's doing the teardown must be another of those cishet heteronormative straight white people.
