I've disliked The Force Awakens from day one. I went in with an open mind, but once it became apparent that it was just a vapid remake of the original Star Wars, I knew it wasn't for me. And I decided right then and there that I wasn't gonna bother to watch any of the subsequent movies. Force Awakens is still the only Disney Star Wars that I've seen.

You have spared yourself great pain, brother.

For my own part, I found the movie relatively entertaining with an absolutely gaping hole where the worldbuilding should have been, plus a nagging disappointment that we never saw a new Jedi Order, which felt like a gigantic lost opportunity. My assumption was that it was intended to be no more than a fun adventure (with a dead Han Solo) that would be built upon with more concrete background material to be fleshed out in the sequels.

The failure to have any kind of storytelling plan, which essentially meant JJ Abrams was winging it and dropping meaningless hints for the next writer to deal with (and look how that turned out!) is one of the most baffling filmmaking decisions in my life. This wasn't Back to the Future, where a lark ending joke accidentally committed a blockbuster to a specific idea for a sequel. Disney knew they'd be making at least three major installments ... and decided to make it up as they went. Appalling.

A couple of friends asked me how it was when I was coming out of the theater, and I said "At least it was better than Attack of the Clowns."

After I saw The Last Jew, I was dreading talking to my brother in law for Christmas until he said that he hated that stupid piece of shit.

Of all the jobs threatened by AI, the ones most rightfully frightened for their livelihoods are current-year franchise screenwriters. At least the good AI writing partners are actually able to keep lore consistent and can recognize when connective tissue between scenes is missing or inconsistent tone, and you could probably train a Star Wars-specific (or any franchise with sufficient content really) one for even more focused assistance.

No one loves Star Wars more than these people apparently, you’d think they’d have more love and concurrently more attention and care for the world they’re writing for. Maybe all those writers show their love by destruction, and all their spouses and children are buried in their backyards

Another thing to point out is that no one complains if you call AI 'a fucking idiot' look at the BAFTAs, a guy who can't control what he says got in trouble for saying offensive things because niggers are too stupid to understand and too evil to care about the disabled.

If you're a white male put in charge of a tv show, and your writing room is completely diverse, you're basically fucked because you can't tell any single writer that their writing sucks, you have to play word games and make "compliment sandwiches" in order to not be fired or get a talking to by HR.

Black people have complained so much that now even colorblind stuff is offensive. the same white guy put in charge of a tv show shows up to a writing room and its full of AI instead of DEI, suddenly he'll be able to make a much better product just because he isn't forced to think about how he says 'that's retarded try again but this time....' to the bots he's using.

in general humans are more likely to be honest and not worry about the feelings of an AI vs another human being on a 1 on 1 conversation.

by every factor AI will improve every part of current day hollywood when its implemented, just because of how much rot there is

No we can't!

Especially while drunk.

Max Landis, Whose Career Imploded During #MeToo, Returns with ‘G.I. Joe’ Movie at Paramount

Somehow, Max Landis returned...

I hate to derail the thread, but what was he even accused of? I remember he basically said he hated women or something in an interview, and then Zoe Quinn I think of all people (very reliable accuser, amazing how she's been assaulted so many times) accused him of assault? Is that right? Is that really all it took to cancel someone back then? I'm not saying he's not a piece of shit, and he was annoying as fuck as a guest. But did he really deserve to be cancelled?

what was he even accused of?
Several of his exes accused him of rape and being emotionally abusive. Zoe Quinn wasn't one of them but she inserted herself into the drama when it was all going down and claimed that it was well-known in Hollywood that Landis is a pervert/abuser or whatever (because apparently Zoe Quinn is well-connected in Hollywood and would know these things lol)

He probably is a pervert and abuser imo but regardless of that he's a shitty screenwriter so god knows why Paramount would even want him working for them.

Okay, it takes a lot nowadays for me to take stuff like that seriously, but if Quinn didn't accuse him and multiple others did then it's pretty safe to say fuck him.

The most notable things he had going for him were being a nepobaby and doing a lame wrestling youtube video with hot women portraying pro wrestlers called Wrestling isn't wrestling. Everything else he did had mixed reception at best even back then. I have no idea why anyone would touch him nowadays even if his dad tried to pull any strings.

Twilight Zone: The Movie accident mentioned for no reason in 5... 4... 3...
But with far less talent making the deaths worthwhile.

Reminder: Max Landis fought to include more LGBTQ+, gender, and racial politics in Power Rangers (2017). Power Rangers 2017 settled with making the Yellow Ranger a Latina lesbian while keeping her Asian name, and portraying Billy, the Blue Ranger, as autistic black kid. Max Landis original script wanted Zack Taylor the former black ranger to become the pink ranger.(He was cast asian with the character same name in Power Rangers 2017.) Power Rangers 2017 had a ended credit scene teasing a girl Tommi Oliver as the green ranger. Mighty morphing power rangers were already diverse for fuck shakes.

That said, "It's better than DEI hires" isn't exactly the glowing praise for AI some people seem to think it is.

How about neither? Neither is always an option. "Neither" is what got us Groundhog Day, Back To The Future, Goodfellas and Gladiator. Not DEI hires or AI. Anything else is to actively accept and tolerate this current lowering of standards that's going on across the board, from the arts to trades to social interactions.

We shouldn't have to and don't need to choose between either Shaniqua writing about "muh black people were the original italians" or braindead AI slop. Submitting to one or the other is to admit defeat, because we know we can do better than that. We literally did for many decades, up until only recently.

he has a thread here, and people said he clearly made an account to defend himself. maybe use kiwifarms for its intended purpose and read up on the lolcow. honestly fuck him, he's a nepo baby and most of what he made was absolute shit.

I made this post in his thread as a necro-roundup:

Neither is not an option, as Jim Agnew... or really anyone who's touched grass, explains.
