At least Stuckmann has a cowardly excuse; he wants to suck Hollywood dick to get his movie made.
Yeah but I specifically posted a video where he advertises his movie.
This is his Hollywood debut, the shit he was probably waiting for since he was a child.
SHOW SOME FUCKING EMOTIONS!!!
He's behaving like he was paid to do this and it wasn't enough.

It also doesn't help that they pick 80s B movies like Elves or Alienator. They can mix it up with some 50s B movies like The Crawling Eye or Earth v. the Spider or Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
Elves and Alienator were funny enough and RLM had a lot of material to riff on. I think anything pre-1970 feels too cheesy unless it's 100% serious.

The problem with B movies made before the 80s is that for every Horror at Party Beach or Night of the Lepus you have dozens of Manos: Hands of Fate. Many of those movies are just boring and not worth watching. Mike and the others aren't funny enough to make the movies enjoyable like Mike and the Bots which is probably one of the reasons they hate MST3K.

And the stuff they watch now isn't?

The lore was that Josh "Beardfat" Davis directly quoted/plagiarized MST3K Space Mutiny jokes and reactions in their BOTW episode; and that Mike and Jay have been pissy about the two shows being compared ever since. I don't know that any side of that matter is correct - But I do know that Jay blames the obscurity of the Re:Views he does with Beardfat for their low view counts, and not the fact that no one can stand to look at Beardfat or watch or listen him pretending to be a human being who doesn't have a garage full of child pornography. Whether he does or not, that's exactly what he comes across as being; and would be pulled straight out of central casting to portray a chomo in a comedy sketch who thinks he's flying under the radar during his daycare job interview.

I just realized I never knew Josh’s last name until this post. He really is the anti-Rich Evans…
Never approach Josh unarmed. He WILL try to devour you.

I remember them snarking about plagiarism at the end of one of their videos and never understood the backstory there. Thanks for the info.

people forget that MST3k was all pre-written, its like thinking impractical jokers episodes only take a half hour to make. You're seeing the best bits from them doing it dozens of times. of course you can't compete with people who have a dozen writers giving them jokes.

thats what made Stern so great, he had an entire writers room giving him jokes to say on a separate monitor, same with Ant Cumia.

I guess it's hard to put into words, but in the early BOTW episodes the cast always comes across as self-aware enough to make what is ultimately a bunch of normie middle aged nerds sperging about nerd shit seem subversive and cool instead of cringe. They would even clown on that type of stuff done without the self-awareness, like Collider, with things like the Nerd Crew. This is, imo, very characteristic of the Gen X mindset. A generation of Daria's, who hide their own stances and preferences behind a veneer of above-it-all irreverence and indifference.

Personally, this posture of not caring about things (while still very clearly caring about things) doesn't play well anymore. Its gay and cringe. Maybe I've just outgrown it. Also there have been a few times in the last few years of RLM where Jay and Rich have suggested really gay opinions/takes on current events. You just never got that kind of stuff from the main three, just Josh and sometimes Jack.

Edit: I forgot about the reviewing movies they didn't watch thing lol, I guess its just been that long since I've watched Half in the Bag with any regularity because its always about whatever gay shit Mike just found on Tubi

I only watch their star trek videos, and if I remember correctly in one of the Picard review videos (which they hated), Rich specifically says something like 'racist fox news bullshit' in regards to romulans. Even when the exact opposite to fox news 'racists' are the people ruining his star trek he couldn't contain his annoying faggotry.

Mike seems to be better, and the only time I've seen Jay is when they're making fun of him in a trivia show so I have no opinion on him.

Agree with them one hundred percent about Stranger Things. I can't believe they think pluribus isn't slow. Jay I understand, it seems more his kind of show, but I didn't think Mike would like it so much. I found it so frustratingly slow and the character too unlikable to follow.

I haven't seen the new video yet. Like Like Stoklasa's taste in movies and shows is laughlingly bad. From what I recall, he must've watched at least four different female-led shows that sound like 100% mainstream garbage. He doesn't seem to get a lot of weird/surreal movies. Jay is at least dedicated to seeing every single horror movie in existence. It's not impressive by any means, but it is something.
