Which Plinkett video had the line "you know what that spells? LAAAZYYYYYYYYY". I can't find it. I think it was in one of the Star Trek TNG movie reviews.

I'm pretty sure it was when they were talking about either reusing the explosion shot or tossing a bunch of people in front of the TV sets and trying to disguise them. So Generations or Insurrection (I think.)

Tell me I'm not the only one who had the same thought.

Yeah, it was one of those two. In the bit you mentioned he was specifically referring to how Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country re-used the TNG engineering set, complete w/blue neon tube warp core, and just made bare-minimal changes to disguise the 24th century LCARS panels and stood lots of extras in front of the bigger details they didn't want to tear down, so it was probably the Generations review (since that featured engineering in several key scenes).

It would have been Generations because it used the same footage of the klingon ship blowing up as was used in Star Trek 6.

Sling Blade had enough Southern Gothic weirdness that Billy Bob came across as something more Faulknerian than Oscar bait-y. It helped that he wasn't widely known at the time, something that also made Gilbert Grape a bit more bearable. It's really when some known quantity actor decides to put on mismatched shoes and writhe around like they just smoked a barrel of jimson weed when the Magic Retard veers into embarrassing comedy.
Sling Blade also benefitted from the fact that for one the retarded character was actually the main character, not the supporting the character to the normal sibling who the story of the film will actually be about. Gilbert, Rain, Rosie and that Disney Channel film all suffered from that. These stories are all about how the normal sibling navigates their lives while dealing with the fact that their sibling is retarded.

The second thing that Sling Blade benefitted from was that unlike the other films mentioned, him being retarded wasn't the main focus of the film. It is an element present in the story, but it is only barely even in the forefront of it. It isn't a film about what it is like to be retarded, it is instead a complex look into things like dealing with trauma and recognizing evil.

Billy Bob also didn’t ham it up to hilarity. You could tell Carl was supposed to be delayed, but there’s no theatrics about it from Billy. There’s a quiet dignity he gives a tragic character, as opposed to begging you to remember his character has a mental disability every 2 seconds.

Is it as fun to watch bad movies in their entirety as the hack frauds of RLM make it out to be? They always seem like they're having a ball, but I have to wonder if the editing is doing a lot of heavy lifting to make it appear more fun than it really is. Like watching The Room -- it's a very different experience watching it in a packed theater at midnight with people throwing spoons at the screen than it is watching it alone at home (or even with a small group of friends).
By yourself? No. But with a friend or friends and some booze and weed it's a blast. I made it a ritual with my old neighbor years ago when I got off work I'd go next door with a pile of shitty DVDs and we would laugh our asses off.

We may or may not have just shot an almost 2 hour discussion about the 1987 movie Street Trash...

It'll be a little while before it comes out though! We'll make a post soon breaking down all the different videos we have either recently shot and/or are currently in the works. Lots going on!

Street Trash is the perfect fit for re:View. There's a lot to talk about, especially since there's a very informative documentary about the making of it called The Meltdown Memoirs. (you can find a direct download link to a decent rip if you know where to look)

If you like ST, you should check out Body Melt (1993) which is an Aussie movie that's somewhat similar. It's a fun watch. My favorite part is a guy who hallucinates having conversations with a beat up junkie hooker. It's so out of left field it catches you off guard.

Hello! We've got several videos either shot, partially edited, or planned for the next few weeks! We've done a lot of big shoots lately and it's been a little overwhelming but first up, we have a Best of the Worst that we shot a while ago that's being edited here and there in between working on other stuff. It's a traditional three movie episode but features our first time watching a full blown musical. I think? If you don't count Rem Lezar, which is definitely a musical but not really a feature film. We also have another Best of the Worst that we just shot which features the return of one of our favorite/most miserable gimmicks. That probably won't be out for a bit but we also just shot a re:View of the 1987 cult semi-classic film Street Trash! And then finally, we're gonna do a Half in the Bag on that Superman movie. Oddly enough, that will probably be the next video we release despite being the last one of this batch that we've shot. I think that's everything?!

Breaking 2: Electric Boogaloo was kinda of a musical. But I guess nobody sings, they just dance.

The recent Plinketto where they all laughed at the Chinaman kid being called Charlie - I don't get it? Is there a cultural reference I'm missing?
It's what Americans called the Chinese during the Korean War, kind of a racial slur. Like how Germans were Jerry, or the Brits were called Tommies by the Germans, etc.
