Ohhhhhhh... yeah, that one. Ye gods that was such a slooooooooooow movie. Even the in-universe computers were bored and spoke like they were half-asleep. Pierce Brosnan couldn't save that one.
I watched it for the first time this year (directors cut). I actually enjoyed it, so cheesy that it's fun. How can you not like the Cyber God?
Plus, the terrible early 90's cyber CGI has only become more endearing with age.

Oh, OK. Whenever someone mentions retards and "being offensive", it's mostly bleeding hearts feeling offended on someone else's behalf.
Effendi, the only bleeding hearts Mola Ram knows are the ones he rips from living chests for the glory of Kali-Ma.

The recent Plinketto where they all laughed at the Chinaman kid being called Charlie - I don't get it? Is there a cultural reference I'm missing?
During 'Nam the US was fighting the Viet Cong in South Vietnam until 1968. The abbreviation of Viet Cong, VC, in the NATO phenetic code is Victor Charlie. So all gooks were called Charlie.

Tell me I'm not the only one who had the same thought.

Oh yeah i forgot about the Shane Black Predator RebootSequel. Wasn't there a plot point about how the predators wanted autists because they were evolved humans or something retarded like that? I didn't watch the movie but most of the reviews i watched when it released mentioned how dumb the autism plot was.

I'd never heard of/seen that Rosie O'Donnell tard movie. I can't believe she actually did it. Maybe she's where they got the inspiration for Tropic Thunder -- "everybody knows you never go full retard."
That Rosie O'Donnell film was just the tip of the iceberg with this subject. Hollywood has a long a history of implementing the "special needs" character as a vehicle for either award bait or positive press. Actors have always used it to for similar reasons. "Rain Man" is one of the more successful examples. Films like "I Am Sam" have become one of the go to examples when describing Oscar bait movies. Leonardo DiCaprio's first critically-acclaimed role was in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" back in 1993. Even Shia LaBeouf as a kid actor on Disney Channel received some positive mainstream press for that Disney Channel film where he played a retarded kid.

Tropic Thunder was meant to lampoon that whole subject matter. That O'Donnell film was just so bad and it was blatantly obvious what they were trying to do with it. Opie and Anthony infamously ripped the film apart when that film aired on TV.

Another one that comes to mind is Sling Blade with Billy Bob Thornton.

How does Like Like Stoklasa STILL not know how to use iMDB's advanced collaboration search? It takes 20 seconds to find the one person that was involved in the making of Final Destination and The Other.

Sling Blade had enough Southern Gothic weirdness that Billy Bob came across as something more Faulknerian than Oscar bait-y. It helped that he wasn't widely known at the time, something that also made Gilbert Grape a bit more bearable. It's really when some known quantity actor decides to put on mismatched shoes and writhe around like they just smoked a barrel of jimson weed when the Magic Retard veers into embarrassing comedy.

RLM has failed to do basic research for years. I used to think it was laziness but now I think it's some kind of deliberate choice, maybe to appear above being trivia nerds.

I think it is mostly Mike being a contrarian douche who is insecure about knowing he doesn't know a lot about movies.
