Who's going to be more mad? Prequel fans or Batman fans?
More than a decade later the PT fans are still angry about the Plinkett reviews, blaming them for people disliking the prequels and being a direct cause of the sequel trilogy.

I mean, compared to Picard S2, Kenobi is okay.
Like Kenobi honestly is just meh and it helps that there's so much shit out there that it makes it look better in comparison.

One thing definite is that Kenobi is written more believably than Picard in his own show and Luke in TLJ

Saw a bunch of the regular Star Wars 'antis' ranting and raging about this on Twitter within minutes of it being posted, really upset about the review because... you know, Kenobi is the worst thing ever right now. I just watched the review and as someone who hated Kenobi so much I gave up halfway through the 3rd episode... I think their review was totally fine. I hate this show more than I've hated any of the recent Star Wars trainwrecks but I'm totally fine with their review.

They hate Star Wars. They shit all over the prequels, they literally launched their entire Youtube career by famously shitting over the prequels. They shit all over the Disney products. They've shit over everything but the original trilogy (which they still don't even seem to have a great opinion off). It's weird that people really are stunned by RLM just not giving a shit that the show is crap and repeatedly saying "I just don't care anymore, it's all trash. Star Wars fans are a fucking cult." They repeatedly say it only looks good in comparison because of how shit Picard is, especially since Mike and Rich both are massive Star Trek fanboys. Now, I don't like Star Wars so never watched Picard, but pretty much everyone seems to agree with them that Picard S2 is worse than this.

People are acting like they've come out and said "This is an amazing show and I love it, I can't wait for more of it!" Instead they came out and said "Modern Star Wars fans are fucking retarded, they are in a cult, they are obsessed with this shit no matter how bad it is, how badly it all fits together, how cheap it looks, how boring it is. It is terrible and a guilty pleasure and it'll definitely get worse and I'll never think about it again"

The biggest praise they gave it is it is better than other Star Wars products because it's cheaper and has more practical effects and doesn't include constant backflips. If anyone is stunned that RLM prefers cheaper, shittier practical effects opposed to 8 billion spaceships flying around, they've clearly never watched RLM before.

They couldn't even do predictions because "There is so little story"... but no, people are freaking out that RLM apparently love the show... they don't.

So yeah, good review, funny to see them shit all over this and their praise of certain parts doesn't make me upset.
So is Kenobi worth pirating then?
No. It isn't even funny bad if you like Star Wars. If you hate Star Wars, I'm sure it's funny bad but if you liked it at all, it's just boring and depressing.

I don't expect anything to stop the Disney juggernaut at this point, but really, RLM essentially saying that Star Wars has finally reached the point where it's as cheesy and stupid as the Golden Age serials it was supposed to elevate and mythologize is a hundred times more devastating than the zillionth bitchfest from Nerdrotic or Doomcock or Geeks & Gamers or any of the other Star Wars antifan parasites who claim to hate all these ruined franchises yet can't stop talking about them or making money off them.

Yeah. I used to like Mauler and eFap, that's why I follow some of them on Twitter still and it was their group all complaining about the review.

Not trying to 'power level' or anything like that but I do shitty wee reviews on Youtube occasionally and I was watching Kenobi thinking "This could be good to shit on" and I just got to the point where I realised I couldn't even be fucked watching it anymore, so I knew I wouldn't talk about it in a video. What was the point? "Oh, this is shit. I know lots of other people have said it's shit... but it is yeah... and yeah, my opinion won't change the mind of any Star Wars fan so why bother?" Like, I didn't even care enough to watch it, how could I care enough to review it?

RLM summed it up so well as basically who cares? It's a pile of shit and I'm sure you can get a bit of enjoyment out of the odd stupid scene, but that's it. It's pure crap. It's all about nostalgia and jingling keys in your face to keep you subbed to Disney Plus. It's porn for obsessed creepy Star Wars fans who can't leave their childhood behind. It's basically a cartoon show in real life with boring, flat characters, weird dialogue, cheap sets and low budget so you don't even get the spectacle of the movies.

Well that was an interesting episode. They liked the show but in the most backhanded way possible. "It was cheap junk, but it was amusing because of how far Star Wars is in the toilet".

For all their talk about a potential season two of the show featuring Obi-Wan fighting robot legs Darth Maul, that actually happened in the Rebels TV show. The plot of a Jedi losing his connection to the Force and trying to hide it was explored somewhat in Rebels. Mike and Rich should make an episode where they talk about the Star Wars EU and how ridiculous it can get. Just them talking about the ridiculousness of a robot assassin taking over the Death Star, or a lesbian Indiana Jones outsmarting Darth Vader, or how a beloved character could only be killed by having a moon crash into them. Their video on Darth Vaders suit where they just read off Wookiepedia is hilarious and they could do a sequel where they read the most absurd, ridiculous things to come out of the Star Wars EU.

This is how I feel RedLetterMedia are at with most franchise films and shows. They know that they get no real personal enjoyment or entertainment out of the shows that are from these franchises anymore. Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien/Predator, Marvel, DC, are artistically devoid and are purely there for dumb spectacle. And now at RLM, they are getting almost no enjoyment out of reviewing the shows, nor criticizing them. Because these movies and shows are so horrendously bad that at an artistic, technical, and intellectual level that there is nothing to learn or gain from them. Things like Alien Covenant, Last Jedi, Picard, The Predator, are just so bad that no one outside of like die-hard cult fanatic jihadist level fans are defending them anymore.

They are burnt out taking anything from franchises seriously anymore. But they know that their fans expect them to review endless trash. Like some sort of faggy cultural internet war where your side scores points against the others. And most likely they know that the income from reviewing franchises in the gutter, is better than reviewing things that they like. Which is to be expected because they built their network on over the top analysis of Star Wars movies that they themselves compared to a serial killer's mentality of kidnapping people. An unhealthy obsession with make believe fantasy worlds where that fake world consumes your entire life like a religion. Maybe one day RLM fans will worship them like a cult and bring edged weapons to the live announcements instead of lightsabers to wave around like maniacs.

Now at RLM they can just set their expectations as low as possible for any new media. And watch them with their friends and just try to laugh almost like Wheel of the Worst . Where they are watching a some poor sap review Vegas slot machines and lose all his money but finding the absurdity of the situation hilarious. The fact is that stuff like The Predator is bad enough to be a Best of the Worst movie just that it has a massive budget.

Oh definitely at that point I was thinking to myself "if only they knew". Gotta say I hate the idea of bringing Maul back (it's so fucking dumb just leave him dead) but I feel what they did with him after that in clone wars and rebels was good so it makes his character a real mixed bag.

When Patton Oswald and Simon Pegg say how insightful the Plinkett reviews are and they recommend JJ Abrams by name, they are more responsible than HelloGreedo or some other shill channel.

they're amusing at times and other times just kind of have shit taste in media
Yeah, in this case, it's because they didn't separate their love for bad movies with competent movies. They are also married to their position that the Prequels are the worst movies ever to maintain cred. It wasn't noticeable pre-Disney Wars because there was nothing to compare them too, but the Sequels managed to both follow their advice while failing to follow their more important advice. Yes, practical effects and expensive film make TFA look better. No, being highly derivative of ANH is not a good formula. Maybe lightsaber fights should be more like the OT. No, they shouldn't be poorly-choreographed messes that also commit the Prequel charge of lack of characterization. Yes, the plots should be simple. No, the plots shouldn't be literally find the MacGuffin only.

Also, these people love the 80s B movie genre way too much. Even by B movie standards, old 50s movies were better for actually trying to be as best as they can be. 80s B movies--with rare exceptions--were direct to video trash. This kind of influence fucked over their own movies by giving them pathetic aspirations. If you don't expect Space Cop to be anything more than a bargain bin DVD, then don't be surprised it ends up in a 50 pack of bargain bin movies.

Star wars doesn't have any fans anymore. They are either cultists or deacons, as rabid and zealous as the papal emissaries during the crusades.
