Then the pandemic delayed everything and Trump lost.
A plot about media manipulation to remove outsiders from office and speeding real authoritarians into office might be lost on these people considering they're carrying water for establishment lies.

So if Trump does appear as the Final Boss in Picard who should play him? Ideally you should get an actor who can imitate his appearance of a fat guy with an obvious comb-over who can take the physical punishment required when the heroes brutally murder him. Is there any actor out there who is fat, balding and has experience getting beat-up and abused? Someone who has made his career as an old man comically falling down all the time? Anyone?

Put Kevin James in some old man makeup.

You know I just realized Sisko's punch probably hurt Q because The Sisko is half Prophet. Helps being a demigod.
It reminds me of the moment in the Dolph Lundgren Masters of the Universe film where Teela bitches about how earthlings still eat meat. Current day people are sneered at and admonished by more advanced, futuristic, 'enlightened' fictional people, who have the words put in their mouths by some fairly stupid examples of current day people
Whoever heard of that kind of lecturing in Star Trek?
That too. But like you said, shows now a days rarely do stand alone episodes. This season would have made so much sense making each theme a self contained episode as part of a larger arc. But that much planning is beyond the minds of the current trek writers. Just throw it all in the pot and call it soup.
I wish the show Burn Notice had revolutionized TV more. It had a brilliant structure where each episode had an episodic A plot to it while the B plot was the ongoing arc. Voyager could have ABSOLUTELY benefited from this structure.
Oh my god, they’re gonna say humans created the Borg, aren’t they?
In some of the books they already did. And given those novel writers now work for the show...

Or, hell, B5. Along with introducing an arc structure to TV sci-fi they realized it's a series, not a miniseries. Sometimes the arc was the B plot, sometimes it was completely absent. Not everything has to be related to the thing.

I think a lot of the writers of neo-scifi paper themselves in a corner with the plot arcs too. Wall themselves in with their scrappy little group who are obsessed with doing one thing, you can't write about anything else. The group doesn't even have to be small, see new-BSG.

Some dude on Twitter pitched a fit about the guys not doing a video on The Batman and mocking Picard. He’s pretty much been getting mocked by a bunch of people online for it.

I liked The Batman but I really don't think RLM could really bring anything new to the table about it, so it's dumb to ask them to do a review beyond validating your own views.

*Noam Blum* "Hey want to get mad about a bunch of drunks from Wisconsin?"

*Me* "You do not want to get mad about a bunch of drunks from Wisconsin"

*Noam Blum* "I do not want to get mad about a bunch of drunks from Wisconsin."

*Me* "You want to go home and rethink your life."

neontaster is a faggot, and right after 51:30 mike explains exactly why and everyone is like 'oh yeah I guess that actually makes sense'

fuck that faggot

Neontaster is one of those Romney style Nevertrumpers who is obsessed with his online persona and being the good conservative, he looks like he was hoping for some other limp dick conservatives like Sonny Bunch or Gabriel Malor or someone from the Daily Wire to come to his defense.

I hope they never mention Batman in a review round up, I find the Star Trek stuff more fascinating with them seeing their childhood destroyed.

Yeah I'm perfectly fine with them not reviewing every other Marvel or DC movie, like, fuck it, there's no reason to at this point. Like why would they bother with The Eternals and shit?

So I know I got this count a little wrong but fuck it I'm not going over this again. Here's what they've done since Jan 1st 2021

14 half in the bag
13 best of the worst
12 re:views
5 star trek
4 "mike and jay talk about"
4 capeshit
3 ranking every john carpenter movie

Basically it is evenly split between new stuff, old stuff, and best of the worst. BOTW gets the least amount of content probably because it's harder to get four people in a room for an entire day than it is to get two people in a room for a couple of hours.

They also tend to screen the older movies for content, to make sure there's enough to go off of. Often, there's really not much that works with their given style - MST3K could transform boring movies into funny ones through scripted riffing. RLM cutting between the drunks and the films only works if the films can stand on their own well enough as attention-grabbers.
