Wasn't Pinhead gender-swapped and played by a troon in the new one? I know Clive Barker famously hates the name "Pinhead" and is also a faggot himself whose motivation for the originals was partially to push what was then "edgy" kink so it's not a big shocker to see him mangle the series' most popular and well-known character while simultaneously letting a pervert have the spotlight too.
Barker had almost 0 to do with the one with Troonhead.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=vmFFNbj3SiwHalloween HitB catch-up, haven’t watched it yet but I see Shelby Oaks on the thumbnail, might be interesting.
It was good on it, only problem is they didn't even see it yet, that would've really helped. But they actually shit on Stuckmann fairly hard, more than anyone else did for sure. They're 100% right about the fanboys giving it good reviews to support 'their guy' early on and then the actual reviews and results were lousy. I doubt Stuckmann will get another shot, especially since it took so damn long to be made. They say the concept is dated out of the 2010s, and that's really when he wrote and had all the ideas for it.

I must criticize you for your characterization cause I thought they were gonna really shit on the guy. Mike said the cinematography looked good and that he'll probably check it out on streaming which probably made Chris Stuckmann cum in his pants. Mike seemed more interested in the weird marketing angle and how his fanboys were telling reviewers not to attack the movie cause it's made by a Youtuber who they liked.

The one who truly seemed eager to shit on it was Jay which would be fair if wasn't for the fact that he (and Mike) failed to bring up Space Cop. Sorry Jay but your movie sucks too but at least Stuckmann is able to say he got his movie into an actual theater run. Even Critical Drinker shit on his own original short movie he produced while reviewing Shelby Oaks. Just a little self awareness would've made it seem less like sour grapes. Their own comment section is more self aware:

I mostly agree, but I never saw anyone even discussing that shaming people into seeing it to support it was lame. Also they mocked him a lot, which I didn't see anyone else do. The thing is if they were going to devote that much time to it they really should've seen it before. And yeah, they could've had some self directed jokes and at least say that pretty much a lot of their early DVD sale movies were absolute shit (I said this not long ago) and they did have a lot of simps at the time going how great it is.

Mostly I was just saying relative to all the other online critics they really did do the kid gloves 'A for effort' and didn't talk all that much about the quality really. I did see someone say after about 30 minutes in it's just a lady with a flashlight walking around looking at things until the very end and was pretty negative, but they still said go see it to support Chris.

I'm also surprised they didn't mention that Chris has only reviewed movies he likes for around years now so he just doesn't do anything negative so nobody would bash his own thing back, but he before that he did trash movies hard all the time.

Even with that I did like their analysis of the marketing used in it and said it was a bad idea. And obviously it was because it did fairly bad. I laughed a lot at how Jay acted so incredulous that someone made a straight to Tubi horror movie and that's probably what this should've done.

I doubt they know anything about him or his reviews, I know some of the Chris Stuckmann memes like "tell that to Zod's snapped neck" and when he had that meltdown at RLM that one time but I don't follow him at all so I didn't find this out until I checked the comments on RLM's latest video.

Their review of Shelby Oaks was interesting.

The fact that it's a Kickstarter-funded movie makes it unique. Something about the idea of crowdfunded is distasteful to me, and I struggle to articulate exactly why. Any time that you're making something creative -- a movie, an album, a painting... even a gadget, a game, or something else -- you're taking a risk. Maybe people will like it; maybe they won't. And if they like it, they'll buy it, and the creator will benefit. But when something is crowdfunded, its creator is already getting paid up front -- no matter the quality of the work; it's no longer a risk. They don't have to pay back the backers if the thing turns out to be a flop. There's less incentive to deliver a quality product when you've already gotten paid. So I'm always skeptical of things like that.

Maybe that's why the initial reviews were so overly positive -- those reviews were mostly made up of Kickstarter backers wanting to believe that they made the right choice through some sort of sunk cost fallacy. "I paid for this -- it's gotta be good... right?"

I suppose my perspective is more applicable to other crowdfunded projects like hardware and games since people pay for their movie tickets up front before seeing the show. But regular theater patrons at least have the opportunity to read reviews or even hear general buzz about the movies they're considering watching when they buy a ticket. You're taking a much bigger risk by contributing to a crowdfunded movie production than simply buying a ticket.

That said, it's hard to listen to the RLM guys talk about a movie produced by YouTubers without taking into account their own firsthand experience of attempting to produce feature films. Do you think that they feel that they got in on the racket too soon? If they were making movies now, they could very easily hold out their digital hats, and people would throw money at them to help fund the production. That wasn't as much of a thing when they made Space Cop.

Crowdfunded Space Cop would still be Space Cop.

Is it me or did I sense some jealousy in Mike and Jay that another youtuber reviewer managed to get his shitty movie into theaters and they didn't?
Maybe I'm just seeing things.

Chris only got it cause he sucked the asses of everyone he could and begged for it. Really a long time ago I remember him just showing up at these Hollyweed premiers and stuff and just saying he's some big guy and loves everyone. Obviously he made friends with Flanagan doing that. I don't think the RLM guys with their foul reputation and insulting everyone. Also their timing when making all those was really bad. I mean AVGN got his in Ed Wood style at that Grauman's. I wonder if the guys there were fans or if he had to pay them to do it.

I'd have felt so awkward pretty much having to applaud that thing cause James was just acting just like Ed Wood that it was the biggest deal in the world.

And Shelby Oaks.. Chris seems like the kind of guy that just thought of that title and worked backwards to make a movie about it. When I heard 'Paranormal Paranoids' was the name of the Youtube group quite awhile ago I thought it had to be some made up joke, but nope. I was glad they pointed out how goofy the title and that are for something that's not a horror comedy.

When Chris just suddenly came out sometime in 2020 or something I think and made a whole video about how he's pansexual for absolutely no reason I was just dumbfounded. He has a pretty nice wife and 2 kids. What kind of weirdo with a family would go looking for internet asspats for something like that.

https://www.gaytimes.com/life/youtuber-and-film-critic-chris-stuckmann-comes-out-as-pansexual/ I mean this is weird shit even for the peak woke era.
“When I first told my wife about this, she was welcoming,” he said. “She is demi-pan and so she was actually very excited. If anything, this has made our relationship even better and more open.”

Demi-pansexual combines both pansexual and demisexual, meaning the person can be sexually attracted to any gender, but is unable to feel attraction unless there’s a deep emotional connection.

This new meta that started with the Minecraft movie where they "review" films without actually seeing them is just cancer. How hard is it to go and see Shelby Oaks? You can't really complain about people walking on eggshells when you can't even review the thing. These hack frauds need a good boot up the arse.

They used to usually at least have one of them see it if they did a review and that was fine. One would explain it to the other and I liked that approach. Neither of them seeing something, when that's their fucking main job of a 'critic' thing like HITB is pretty inexcusable. I mean what's next, Re:views of stuff neither saw and they only looked at the wiki plot summary? Laaazzyyy

Right now, RLM are in a good position with Hollywood.
They know actors, writers, directors, composers etc.
I bet if they were making Space Cop right now, they could easily get Jack Quaid or someone to cameo in it, Bear McReary to make a cheap score for it, maybe get some LA funding even.
The timing was indeed their biggest mistake.

I know exactly what the title is.
It's Silent Hill.
It has the same exact vibe, sounds like this quiet little town where nothing happens but OOOOOOOGA BOOOOOOGA IT'S ACTUALLY SCAAAAAAAAAARY!!!

I'm so fucking tired of Silent Hill influencing all horror.
And we're getting another damn Silent hill movie in January.

Agreed, sometimes this was their best stuff - I still remember Jay's horrified face blending into rib-clutching laughter at Mike explaining Brahms: The Boy II's ending to him

So you're saying Space Cop 2 has a chance?

It's not even that. It's the finale of the Paranormal Paranoids unfiction story which the movie takes all the (I hate to use this word) lore and actual neat ideas and throws them in the shitter and gives the story to the unseen, unvoiced sister. I don't know if it was executive meddling or the 4 year hiatus that made such a drastic change, but it has the Marble Hornets movie Always Watching level of bullshittery going on there.

I haven't watched RLM in a while - are they seriously not bothering to go see the movie? What's the point of watching a movie review if they're going to talk about what they saw in the trailer or on Reddit?
