You can both anonymously upload or stream the media, like the kiwifarms movie nights. There are tons of ways to share media without getting butt-fucked.
I know about movie nights, but that's different since it's a temporary stream. Would it be good enough to add pseudo-anonymization steps to my URLs before posting them here? I mean something like putting all the URLs on Pastebin and then adding redirectors/URL shorteners.

I have some old parts, so this is not a problem. I have two main concerns. One is a networking setup that's neat and as simple as possible. The other is demand. I wish I could share media with fellow Kiwis, but this is tricky because of DMCA. I wouldn't want to simply post direct links here for that reason.
There are plenty of channels on Kick, Twitch, and Rumble that just stream movies. I’ve done streams on Kick and only received a warning for listing the name of the movies playing, but it should be fine.

I don't know how people live without a NAS.
1. Have a pair of massive HDDs and a dual slot toaster rig.

2. Add media to one of the drives and back it up on the other, remove back up drive and securely store it.

3. when you want to watch something, plug in the toaster, turn it on, copy the files to your computer, turn off and uplug toaster, watch media

It's so simple and it just works.

How about an Italian movie where the whole dub is in English, but it becomes Italian just for a few lines of dialogue and then switches back to English mid-sentence? The source rip only has a single audio track. This is from Wild Team (1985).

Wild Team Dub.mp4
This is pretty anecdotal, but the Extended Cut of Deep Red does this as well, namely due to the additional scenes never actually being in the movie outside of Italy. A little jarring to have a dialogue scene swap languages like that when watching a pretty good movie, but understandable.

Oh son of a bitch I didn't read further before replying, someone else already said as much as I did.

To jump in on the home server discussion. I don't know how cost effective it is now, but I bought a mini PC a few years ago and have 16tb hooked up to it with other hard drives of various sizes used for backup for the main drive. It was all pretty cheap then, but with the skyrocketing cost of storage and RAM, I don't know how viable this option is anymore. It's suited my needs and I've had no issues. The mini PC is solely used as the server. I like having the server and the PC be rolled into one. Makes any changes that I need to do pretty easy

I don't frequently have ecelebs in my dreams, but somehow Mike & Rich were present in a dream that was most likely inspired by falling asleep to season 4 of Law & Order [I never pay for anything/no one asked] -- so immediately I started talking to them about politics and then I woke up :D

And what did they say?
Mostly Mike was vocal and magically got all my weird references to BAP and Basil and DC and Dimes Square, LOL -- there wasn't anything contentious or revelatory other than that this dream version of one group of ecelebs was aware of another sphere -- I'm thinking that this was the moment I became lucid and IDK what kind of dialogue happens in a dream when one does that, but it was probably what little I experienced -- the only other lucid dream I've ever had involved solo trekking in snow & ice cave spelunking, the lucid response being materializing show shoes in response to the environment, &c.

Diary entry for March 25 2026

-I am too stupid & arrogant to appreciate Master of Orion 2
-Wife and kids are long gone
-Former partner Rich Evans despises me
-Gen-X British youtube celebrity (himself coasting on success from 25 years ago) pays me a stipend to sweep the floor out of pity
-I still dislike Master of Orion 2 because I am God's own bald normie

On the bright side,

I would like to acknowledge Rich Evan’s contribution in developing his own interpretation regarding the federation's currency and societal reputation within Star Trek. It is worth noting that many TNG enthusiasts tend to view TOS and DS9 with a certain degree of skepticism. The Star Trek fan wiki often revises information to align more closely with TNG-era perspectives. For example, the episode focusing on Sisko's Creole Kitchen presents inconsistencies with the Federation’s supposed moneyless society. In that episode, Sisko’s father owns a restaurant with employees, and the term "customers" is used, which suggests the exchange of goods or services for payment. Additionally, Sisko’s father’s concerns about losing customers during a period of martial law imply the existence of a market economy, which does not align with the Federation’s ideal of a society without money.
It seems that the writers of Deep Space Nine recognized the need to adjust the world-building and societal concepts of the Federation, especially after working on a darker, more mature narrative. Even systems based on socialism or Marxist principles inherently rely on the use of currency to function, as communism itself is built upon the presence of workers and economic exchange.

The money issue is a massive pain in the ass in the Star Trek universe. People have been arguing about it for years. We know that back during the NX-01 time they're still being paid something, but what that is up to all kinds of interpretations.
I personally like the idea that everyone gets a dividend/UBI or something, then additional 'credits' if they're doing some specific kind of work. Who knows.
I'm going to link to the Feral Historian video on it as it's my favorite overview.

More evidence that Jack had never seen a computer until the 2010's

Here he is fascinated by a basic function of MSpaint. This was recorded apparently in 2015.

So earlier when I said that Jack Packard emerged from the jungles of Southern Wisconsin in 2007; it's actually much worse: he only re-integrated into society in 2015, at the earliest.

Stupid dumb fuck, goofy corny ass corn-ball. His wife and kids fled his dumb-fuck life. Yahtzee reviews the latest Assassin Creed in a sarcastic manner and Jack is paid to sweep up the metal filings left behind by the lathe.

Stupid asshole.

No wonder he thinks MovieBob is a cheerful, erudite, and cosmopolitan sophisticate.

I always figured it was based off energy like voyager. If you didn’t do anything you had a very minimal amount of tickets to purchase and replicate goods with. If you had more you where allowed greater quarters, and allowance for goods
