I really wish something like would've happened in the actual game. Dutch's character arc during the time between the main story and the epilogue just feels kinda unfinished.
Speaking of things, I really wouldn't mind a RDR3 where they show the rise of the van der Lind gang. I always wanted to know just how the gang ended up being a bunch of cutthroats with delusions of grandeur after I read Arthur's newspaper snippet about his first bank heist. I mean, its obvious in hindsight how it became a thing, but its still something I'd love to see first hand. Can play as a young Arthur Morgan and show how he goes from a young, naïve idealist to someone willing to punch the shit out of a dying man for money.

No, fuck that. No more prequels. Maybe have the van der Lind gang show up as a cameo or a side mission but fuck I want an actual new story. I can only hear "the death of the west" so many fucking times.

I was talking about the opposite of that, dumbass, where we see the rise of the Legend of the East, as he goes from naive idealist to jaded outlaw who will do anything if the price is right.

Yeah and then you just get generic GTA "dark side of the american dream" again.

I think the story just needs to end with Jack.

Have the third game be set during The Great Depression, have Jack fuck around with other outlaws for a while before retiring to finish his book on his dad, and Arthur before subsequently dying, or whatever.

No more prequels.

Stop going backwards.

I'm tired of foregone-conclusions.

You already have a story.

Now fucking finish it.

There isn't going to be a RDR3 lmfao Dan Houser is gone and Rockstar is focused on their GTA Online bucks.

Rockstar: "You want Undead Nightmare 2? How about a Halloween Pass instead?"

https://youtube.com/watch?v=vFLHoGqL52A
Just give us Undead Nightmare 2, or put this shit into story-mode.

Hell, creepy, halloween shit is already in story-mode considering there's ghosts, robots, aliens, giants, a massive dead snake, blinking corpses, dead bodies everywhere, a haunted, abandoned town, a shoutout to the legend of Sleepy Hallow, and possibly even the Headless Horseman himself, (It's not him. It's a glitch, but that's not stop dumbasses from thinking that it's supposed to be him. The horse being spooked is weird, though, but that's probably because they're in the swamp.), among a fuckton of other weird-ass, freaky stuff.

How hard is it to throw together something like Undead Nightmare 2 when most of the pieces for it are already there?

Yeah, my opinion is that RDR3 should either be:

1850-60s during the California Gold Rush, set in New Austin + California + a Mexico expanded southwards, and refocusing on a lone drifter character + spaghetti western themes. Maybe some cameos from RDR2, but no more prior character involvement in the game.

1930s, set in a modernized version of the RDR + RDRII maps, maybe expanded northwards to a Chicago-style city. Basically a Bonnie and Clyde story focused on Jack. He would be around 35 by then, same age as the other protagonists. It would feel a little similar to Mafia, but I think the key would be to keep a largely rural setting and emphasis on the feeling of drifting around this American landscape as opposed to being city-bound.

Frankly I'd prefer the prequel approach where it's an unrelated story at the height of the wild west. I like that we don't know how Jack's story ends beyond the fact he wrote a book.

It'd be cool to see something set in California + Oregon + Idaho, personally. Get a bit of that rocky mountain western flair along with the deserts. Or they could just make up states that have all of those features again.

And as long as we're dreaming I'd like to see a branching narrative this time.

It would be cool to see RDR's world at the height of the old west rather than it's decline.

It'd also be cool to see American dry desert ala Arizona, Nevada etc, the one type of environment we never saw, we saw grassy desert in New Austin and dry desert in Mexico but never in the US.

I think the story just needs to end with Jack.

This is also a great idea.

I would say 1870s or even the 1880s, not too far removed but still at the wild west's peak.

A Chicago style city would be great, but yeah, the main emphasis should be on rural areas.

I'd love an open world game set in turn of the century NYC though, on a side note.
