With their pro segregation mindset I wonder what they think of Thurgood Marshall pushing to get elementary schools desegregated.
 
The mindset has shifted from "let non-whites become educated too" back during segregation, to "yeah fuck education we don't need that white shit anyway." Rather than encourage upward mobility, to elevate the disadvantaged, the idea instead is to bring everybody down to the lowest common denominator. This mindset has infiltrated everything, whether it's the public education system, or women's rights, etc. It's like when Margaret Thatcher said that these kinds of people (e.g. Bernie supporters now) would rather have the poor become poorer, provided the rich become less rich.

If I recall, the old name for this type of scenario is called "Crabs in a Bucket" as illustrated so perfectly here in The Boondocks.


(As an aside, I really fucking miss The Boondocks. McGruder used to make fun of these kinds of hypocritical little shitheads all the damn time; just look at the MLK episode or "It's A Black President, Huey Freeman".)

Poor Bernie is definitely the old school kind of activist that wants to bring everybody up. I'd say the people you're thinking of are those ladies that hijacked one of his rallies to yell at his supporters about how they're all racists.

I'd imagine having some of the worst of tumblr sic their followers on you at a consistent rate probably gets pretty damn tiring after a while. I do agree she'd probably manage better here.

Hell, she might even be here already. "Hide your powerlevel" and all.

We kind of have an airlock in the form of the tumblr subforum. It has turned more than one tumblrina into a normal human. And the ones who still aren't fit for human company usually just stay there.
