This is a microscope slide of the head of the femur and the acetabulofemoral joint of a mouse. It has been stained with Movat's pentachrome stain, which is basically five histology stains rolled into one as each stain binds to and highlights a different microscopic structure. The net result is a slide that looks like a miniature acid trip.
