For those new here, Bob's kids hated Barb, and I'm sure she made everything tough for them.
She swooped in on Bob, which no one likes. Knowing her, she was flaunting it at them at every chance. "Ohhhhh your dad loves ME more" kind of shit.
So they stopped talking to Bob for the most part, too.

IIRC he held some patents. Whatever your opinioni of him might be, it's undeniable he was much smarter than Barb and their failson.
 
Im pretty sure Chris is either misremembering or typoed the year the checkup was 2006 not 1996 I remember because he found out he had a half niece.

Good thing nobody else picked up on that red herring. There are only three Aulikki Ahonens alive in Finland today, and the youngest was born in 1949. The youngest Auli Ahonen was born in 1988 and resides in Lapland.

Either they knew generally about Chris and his antics before, or they would have had a horrible surprise afterwards.

Even if he showed up and behaved himself, the family would have to explain to others present who Chris is.

Way I understand it Bob was already kind of on the outs with his eldest children in the fallout from his divorce from his first wife. That his kids didn't like Barb probably gave them all the incentive they needed to cut the cord entirely

Uh, non-existent? I don't think he had many interactions with his father's other children or their children. To the point that I think a troll was able to successfully troll him by posing as his (half) niece

I know barb's family hated her because she's barb, but what's the deal with Bob's family? Why do they had such few interactions with Bob?

Also a more intelligent man might say to himself 'Well shit. My marriage failed and my kids hate me. Maybe the best thing to do wouldn't be to immediately get remarried and have another kid'

I don't think anyone really knows but Bob didn't even know he had a granddaughter until that visit to the Ophthalmologist
