From an anatomy perspective, I can totally understand some of the complaints, but mostly the ones regarding posing. There are so many broken spine poses, especially in comics. They look aesthetic, but ow. Otherwise, there's nothing really wrong going on. Women exist with small waists, big tits, and wide hips. Just like they exist in large bodies with small tits.

The thing that bothers me about shit like this is that there's a double-standard going on. It's not okay to sexualize women's bodies, according to these women, but it's totally okay to turn around and sexualize men's bodies. The Wizard of Oz image upthread is actually a good example of just that. Either you can sexualize both, or you can't. You can't play either or.

If you take a look at the backstories of these "good examples" you will notice that a few of them are actually trans women, which is kinda funny. The "well drawn" women are men.

there's this thing that some ppl have with bayonetta i don't really get. they don't like the whole "her power is her hair" since it "objectifies" her or something. but, the reason why it's like that is because ppl believed that witches had magical powers with their hair. and since bayonetta is a witch, it makes sense with her character.

i can just tell some of these ppl just hate the game because "naked lady bad" which is sad. it's a good game with a cool soundtrack that sticks to the theme of "even in my worst, i will give it my all" (literally this moral is repeated in the bayonetta soundtrack with "Sadness lies in your smile, but victory shines in your eyes)

overall, these ppl r mad and there's a reason why they are on reddit

FRANKLY. This really grind my gears especially so when the people 'fixing' the character are talent-less hacks. I've always maintained that in designing a character, especially a female one, that if I wanted someone fat, normal proportions, dumpy, boring, etc- I'd just go outside and look at regular people. The whole fun thing about fictional characters and drawing them is the fact that you can do things with them that are extremes or not exactly 'normal' proportions, I myself am plain and boring, so I have no interest in emulating that into drawings. It's plain! and boring!

I really hate the 'well if they were real' 'where are her organs' arguments too. Bitch they aren't and won't ever be real. They're lines on a page. Go practice your drawing skills and make your shitty content into character's that people have 0 interest in.
 
The whole idea of "realistic proportions" is laughable, because women with good racks, nice tight asses, and thighs that don't look like tree trunks DO exist, despite what bitter fat girls want to think.

I'm happy this has a thread now, because these types were all over twitter and would get thousands of likes for shaming "men who don't know how to draw women". Whenever you would point out the artist is female, now it's internalized misogyny because women totally wouldn't draw unrealistic body types.

if they were real? if they were real then they wouldn't be super-heroines, or warrior-princesses, or vampire-huntresses, or mech-pilots, or witches, or whatever - because all these things don't fucking exist. that line of argument just defeats the whole point of fantastic fiction in general.

The reason why they see this as a problem with men drawing big boobs rather than porn addicts is because they're most likely porn addicts themselves. They're just smart enough to not be open about it.

I've known a lot of people who were coomers themselves but had problems with other porn addicts.

I can definitely agree with what you’re saying here. A lot of these “progressive” people are fine with porn as long as it’s drawn “their way”.

So in an attempt to obfuscate their own crippling issues, they point out the issues of others as if they are innocent. The behavior of compulsive masturbators is the same regardless of the material being used. The hypocrisy of /r/mendrawingwomen is what makes them so easy and enjoyable to mock.

These types are just angry that there exists art that doesn't explicitly appeal to ONLY themselves and will use whatever excuses to destroy it or the people behind it.
