Where I live there are lawyer hotlines you can call and that will connect you to a lawyer with expertise in the field of the law you have questions about. It's very inexpensive, answers a lot of questions you might have as a non-lawyer and it counts as legal advice and you can even quote them on it. I have used those services in the past and was always pretty content with the advice I was given. Don't know why anyone would ask some random internet assholes that might as well be Russel Greer pretending to be a lawyer like he loves to do.

A lot of times, the people at LA will tell advice seekers exactly this, about calling to find out who you could talk to in your area. I think people are just lazy and stupid, honestly. Or they have already made up their minds and they think that the people at LA will reinforce what they’ve already assumed. Which very rarely ever happens. The regular posters enjoy playing wack-a-mole too much.

I enjoy going through the responses in the threads and identifying which posters are clearly 1L students trying very hard to contribute something, anything at all, and its normally just some obscure term or phrase that either isn't in common use or is not applicable due to not knowing the state or area the misguided advice seeker lives in.

I don't personally have the caps but I know they're in one of lolcow's threads.

My favorite /r/legaladvice story is when Onision made a throwaway account and posted to LA basically admitting to tax fraud. He claimed basically his entire house, two Teslas, expensive laptops etc. on his taxes, got caught, and is getting fucked by the IRS to the tune of at least $300k. Anyway, commenters immediately deduced Onision was the OP, and they promptly ripped him to shreds and ridiculed him endlessly.

It was pretty funny, he was just so indignant and frustrated that he couldn't just ignore the IRS like he ignores "haters." He's had to sell both Teslas and his giant house and has recently moved into a smaller house and started driving a pickup truck. Reading his legal advice post and knowing how things end makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I'm on mobile so if anyone has the screencaps on hand, posting them would be much appreciated!

God I would love a follow up on the fired "feeder" employee. It sparked quite the debate last night between me and my gf but ultimately just had us both in tears laughing.

Why does Onision have the mental functioning of a 12 year old girl? Maybe your life wouldn't be constantly falling apart if you were capable of keeping your stupid mouth closed for 5 minutes here and there.

I doubt we’ll ever get one. The employer seemed like a genuinely good person who was really upset at how much she had been taken advantage of. Now that the employee is gone, she probably wants to just forget it ever happened.

There wouldn't be a damn cookie in that house the whole summer if I was one of the parents. Nothing but vegetables and rice cakes. What an entitled little shit! Did it ever occur to him that his parents might be doing this out of love? This is why you have parents because you are not capable of making healthy decisions on your own.

A lot of posters on the BOLA thread for that post were commenting that the kid was just trying to have a little agency in his life, rebelling like a natural teenager, and is probably very depressed and so he feels a desperate need to retain control over appearance since it is the one aspect of his life he feels he can control.

I'd be willing to bet they were all hefty fuckers themselves. If you're an adult you can make your own shitty choices, but if you're the parent of a severely obese teen, allowing them to become Mr. Creosote Junior is dreadful parenting. As far as trying to help their little Cartman goes, sending him to a nice and friendly "fat camp" is probably the best way to go. But he just ignores that and reeeeeees about how he loves being lardy.

Everything was deleted, what did the original text say?
Oh shit I didn't even notice that. Okay I'll try remember what it said.

So basically the OP works for a recycling plant. They get bins full of stuff and him and some other guys look through the bins for recyclable materials (plastics, metals, etc) and sort it. So him and another guy get a bin and open it up, and it's just filled with sex toys. Dildos, butt plugs, S&M gear. The whole range of kink stuff. Obviously used. Apparently it's not even that uncommon to get bins full of sex toys, they just have a chuckle and move on. Well OPs co-worker takes it to the next level, arms himself with a large dildo and whacks the OP in the mouth with it. I don't think he was actually injured by it but he was pretty disgusted and was asking what kind of legal action he should take. Is it assault? Sexual harassment? Playful joke?

Slight offtopic but 14 isn't *that* young anymore but I'm not sure I'd let a 14 year old run nilly-willy around on the internet unsupervised, and when I was a kid in the 90s it's basically exactly what I did. I just dunno what to say, back then the internet just wasn't that fucked up IMHO. Between all the twitter trannies and healthy at any size dangerhair tumblerinas, I simply do not think it's a good space for an impressionable kid. He'll soon figure out all the echo chambers that will tell him that his weight is just cool the way it is, and in a few years when he'll fail to get it in with the other sex because of his looks and attitude he'll find the incel echochambers who tell him that the femoids are all at fault. Also kinda get the feeling fat camp would have gone better if he had not unlimited access to the internet.

Nowadays everyone and their grandmother seems to point towards "kids need to learn how to use this DIGITAL stuff and everything needs to be online on the internet" but man, what's to learn about it, especially on something like a tablet? put your finger on the colorful symbols - receive the opinions of some truly retarded people. Not exactly something you have to "figure out" contrary to these often-faulty and not-rarely-badly-engineered DOS/Win3.11/9x behemoths back then. If anything would be hard to learn about it you wouldn't have all these idiots online now. Slight Powerlevel here but I just finally gave in after years and got a smartphone a month ago and after a week I already had the thing rooted and a custom ROM installed so while it's certainly cool to have not using the stuff before didn't exactly inhibit me either. I just don't see why a kid just HAS to have it in all the unsupervised ways, it doesn't really feel like it would add a lot of positive these days.

Well those kids’ parents and their parents’ parents were raised by TV, so this was the logical conclusion.

They have to do that because there have been cases where stupid harpies like her accused their drivers of sexual assault/rape, but were cleared when the video showed that nothing happened and they lied for a free ride/attention/because they're dumb bitches.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was it r/legaladvice where a man asked for advice on divorcing his cheating wife and in turn she killed their 3 kids and herself?

Only can imagine how this would have gone if reddit told her to call DHS.
Lady: "Excuse me a wrong number texted me a picture of a child's rash covered anus. I am not sure that the daycare worker has the parents consent to send this picture to me. Reddit reassured me that right choice was to call DHS."
Operator: "Hold one moment."
*holding music*
Mental Health Services: "Hello miss I am here to help you. Can you tell me your name?"

Sadly the comments told her to stop over reacting but there was one gem.

EDIT: Friend leaves her daughter at his place and after 6 days he goes to reddit for help.
Take a guess where you think this is going before reading the update.

Noticed that a lot of the best of have posts that were deleted. Looking by a specific topic/link with archive or Wayback is really hit or miss. The best way to find them seems to be to look at the Wayback Machine for /r/legaladvice.
