kek, this sums up this totally real conversation:

Ok well speaking as some sort of martyr who has children ....
If my husband and/or I want to get as drunk as a skunk, we actually can do that whenever we feel like it. Also if I wanted to, I could also go to ULTA or Sephora and buy all the cosmetics I want. Our children are not stopping us from engaging in these behaviors. These people are very naive and limited in their understanding of how the world works. We don't go on benders and spending sprees because that is self-destructive behavior on so many levels.
You can actually die from binge drinking. More from an episode or two of binge drinking then from moderate regular drinking, especially if you are a young person. You can also get a DUI and that will really complicate your life, and set you back financially. Not to mention, get a massive hangover and be sick for a couple of days,
As for spending money on ephemera like cosmetics, for some of us, taking trips, eating at restaurants or having pets is simply more fulfilling. No matter how much makeup you put on, you are basically staring at the same ugly face in the mirror, and fishing thru a bag of stale cosmetics. It is boring.
Most child-free people actually have other interests, such as outdoor activities, sports (such as cycling), dog breeding or training, traveling and taking tours. I have to admit, that before the kids were born, my husband I were able to take long hikes together, spend all day at a museum staring at a precolumbian artifact (if that is what we wanted to do). We could spend hours watching documentaries or reruns of our favorite shows with no kidderuptions. At this point if we didn't have the kids, we would have more energy, time and money to devote to career or intellectual interests, or sampling exotic foods. Spending long weekends taking tours of interesting places would be in the realm of possibilities. Home improvements would be awesome: I would transform this place into a palace ...
However, does a single one of these r/childfree people actually have any real interests or pursuits to discuss in other venues? Like a special devotion to birdwatching, or ecology, or art?
