That's disappointing, because I feel bade for all the Duggar girls/women (not that I expect divorce to reverse the brainwashing, it's far too late for that). Thank you though.
I feel like Anna won't get a divorce because of how fundie culture raises daughters. No education, no work history, and four young children. It's a rock and a hard place, if she leaves him she'll be exiled from her family and community with her small children and no means of supporting herself, and if she stays with him she'll never sleep peacefully again.

It should be illegal to cripple your children like this in the name of 'religion'.

The problem is there's already enough government interference in people's lives, and directly intervening in families to the extent you could stop this would quite possibly lead to more abuse over the general population. The sad fact is we have to tolerate some degree of shit in the way parents run their families, in the name of personal autonomy, because the degree of intervention that would be needed to stop all of it would also stomp all over personal freedom in general.

I think these particular cultists go beyond what should be tolerated, but it's hard to say exactly how you'd administer anything that would stop what these people do without also interfering excessively in the lives of people who should be left alone.

That's the problem with making laws to deal with the worst.

Ugh. I think my mom still partially likes the Duggars. A while back, I was complaining about one of the daughters and she responded with "I don't know why you care" rather defensively. She used to watch 19 Kids and Counting a lot and although she would make fun of them a lot, I think she thought they were oddly endearing. Which is odd since she knows how horrible they can be.

I just wish people would stop giving them attention.

With it being top story on Drudge I suppose we'll all be talking about these fuckers for the next few days. For a group as weird as they are, its odd that Kiwifarms tends not to dwell on quiverfuls until it turns out that they are locking their twenty-nine year old and his many many siblings up in a holding cell all day long. I wonder if they were an active part of the online community...

I haven't bothered reading the thread, but I get the gist of it.

And the alternative? Birth control until 40, a random dick a week, a career that inevitably becomes unfulfilling, then panic and desperation and oops, no kids, and might as well vote for shitskin retarded violent immigrants and hope there is enough tax money to bribe them into not murdering you halfway into retirement and old folks home?

Lolberals such as yourself wouldn't be able to get a law condemning death by bovine rape as a method of execution condemned without hordes of turds who went to the trouble of having the babies and coming over. It would have been the Reagan blow out, again and again, forever, except even worse. So your entire premise of existence quite literally boils down to the labor of labor itself being work only fit for niggers. When given the choice, with birth control and a tolerant society, Lolberals go extinct. Typically while screeching that someone has to pay for their expenses in old age.

Me personally, I'm all for women working and contributing to a household's finances, but that's not the real source of hatred for these people.

I love this quote from the Free Jinger forum:

I've read the 'Little House on the Prairie' series and Laura Ingalls Wilder went on long buggy rides with her husband-to-be without an escort. And she came from a conservative Christian family and fairly uptight parents. If Little House on the Prairie is liberal compared to the Duggars, something's wrong.
You could trust people back then. Good faith and many laws were in place for protection against cherry popping town skipping scallywags. Then those scallywags decalred they should be tolerated, live and let live. The alarmist of the era proclaimed these people would try to turn the tables and force that way of life on every one. This was denied, of course.

The Alarmists were right. Bake that cake.

If you have too many kids, you can just chain them up. The Turpin method. Super biblical.

. They are raised from cradle to adulthood to be little worker drones and robots parroting their parents. There's zero stimulation for them to be themselves, no freedom whatsoever.
Oh I'm sorry are you offended that its the parents, instead of government mandated schools, guiding their ideals and beleifs, that they parrot their parents instead of youtube, jewtube, and tumblr? Must be deeply alarming.

lol calm down.

There is no in-between. It's only 17 children of the corn doing Amish cosplay, or an icy, barren Tindr life, dictated by Jewish overlords, followed by being eaten by your transgender cat herd.

. The kids are always these weird, socially awkward loons who don't have any clue how to think for themselves and try to push their worldview onto everyone else.
Jee, what a different just a few years makes.

Taking this quote out of context, who is he referring to?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_Marxism

Basically, its when you believe certain people are forcing a leftwing ideology down your throat. My school experiences suggested that while some school teachers did like to use their position to preach politics, they were rare.

I'm wondering what kind of books the Duggar children and family read. There was an episode from many years ago where a couple of the girls talked in front of a class and said the books they were reading and one of them mentioned some kind of religious related one. It would be pretty horrible to grow up in a family that controls what kind of books you can read. If I grew up in a family as stifling as the Duggars, I'd be miserable if I was only allowed to read certain books.
I've got a feeling that Jim Bob and Michelle only allow their daughters and sons to read moralistic novels and less secular worldy ones. God, that would be horrible.

I don't know about the Duggars, but a lot of them use Classical curriculums, and the reading lists are very, very good.

It's just that a lot of these sorts of families end up too overwhelmed to effectively home school, and the kids end up barely literate.

The classics are too sinful and smutty for some religious homeschool curriculums, and I wouldn’t be surprised if ATI is one of them. Bible stories and that’s it.
