I read how with the flds and how they move the women around and keep them hidden, that similar to fundie families, they just sign over guardianship of their kid so that there are no loose ends legally (Kingston clan does this too, and also they simply just don't name the fathers on birth certs and so then all the kids are from a single parent home and all are on gov gibs, they call it "bleeding the beast")

Derek seems to be referring to the young virginal girls sent to be mother's helpers for Anna, whom Josh has abused. They had one living in their house when he first got investigated; she disappeared soon after. She probably wasn't the only one during the years since Josh was exhaled from Washington DC. The young girls just got sent to other places rather than having any type of justice.

Their church has been covering for the Duggars for years, as has the family and their community. Derek is ready to spill that shit and I'm here for it. I hope he gets a fat big law job that let's him sue chomos as part of his charity hours.

Edit: this callout post from Jim Holt is where Derek replied. Thr Holts are opening calling the Duggar family liars who have covered for their chomo kid for years, and telling people not to vote for JB.

That I 100% agree with. For me one of the worst things about institutions like TLC and Jim Bob is that because of the power they hold, they are able to put regular people within their orbit into awful situations. For instance, I have a theory that Derick was probably a regular conservative Fundie-Lite type until he had a bunch of huge life changes (graduating from college, father dying, moving, foreign missionary work) that probably made him seek out more rigid structures within his faith and a paternal figure. And at the time, Jim Bob was considered the ultimate Christian Daddy. Classic cult indoctrination story. I'm just glad he got out and took his poor wife with him.

I also found the Duggars super gross and skeevy well before the criminal shit came out. And got told that I just hate conservatives and Christians or whatever. But most conservatives I know can tell the difference between a vagina and a clown car. And I didn't trust any "Christian" who volunteered to work with the network behind "Toddlers and Tiaras." Also there's no denying that there was a vibe coming off Jim Bob and Michelle. And, of course, every time I brought any of this up, I was told I was "overthinking." It's super frustrating sometimes because no one pays attention and it's how shit slips through the cracks until the levee breaks.

I think he's referring to the fact that Jim Bob commoditized his children's childhood and privacy...all in the name of the Almighty TLC Dollar. He also, quite literally, made Derrick, Ben, Jeremy, and probably Austin, fill out PAGES of questions just to be able to be considered as "courting material" for his daughters. Part of that paperwork included financial statements and a full accountability of the young man's "sins". Given that none of the daughters were allowed the autonomy to pick a mate without their father's express permission, that starts to look a little like arranged marriages. Also, the way Counting On was handled was SHAAAADY.
Josh, Jim Bob, and Michelle were told, in no uncertain terms, that 19 Kids and Counting could NOT continue because of their behavior regarding Josh's past behavior and the Ashley Madison shit. The producers said the only way the show could go on is if it were centered on Jill and Jessa and subsequent kids getting married. Jim Bob told Jill and Derick that no one was getting paid...that the show was a "ministry" and he was not taking money for himself. The kids believed him (which is foolish, but whatever). So, the kids are filming and Jim Bob is depositing that money into his own coffers. Jim Bob particularly fucked Jill and Derrick by not giving them contracts to read. The production company limited their life choices for filming purposes and then when Derrick asked for help with medical bills for the children, TLC told him to ask Jim Bob why that wasn't possible. Derrick did and was told by Jim Bob that there was, again, no money...that they were doing "mission work" and all proceeds go to the mission. Jim Bob was a pimp...just because he wasn't selling them for sex doesn't make selling them any better, kwim?
 
Don't forget that Jim Bob and his ilk also believe that gays, "witches", and adulterous women also need to be given the death penalty. I can't remember which book about fundie christians I read that in, but it certainly stuck out to me. Funny how the fundies of different religions all seem to agree on certain points. Especially on women.

It was literal labor exploitation. Jim Bob literally left his daughter with the medical bills for giving birth (the thing his whole cult is supposed to be obsessed with) while profiting off said birth by filming it for the show he was paid for.

Wouldn't help pay for his daughter and grandchild to survive a birth, but paid his pedo son's legal bills for his CSAM charge. Bravo, Jim Bob.

Don't forget Jill was also the 'favourite' daughter when that went down. Imagine just how much worse he treats the girls he doesn't like.

Jill and Derrick did sue Jim Bob over that fiasco and got a payout. I believe they bought their house using that money.

If Jim Bob had just paid for Sam's NICU stay, Jill and Derrick probably wouldn't have left the cult yet nor sued him for wages. They only started to question and openly defy him because he threw them under the bus and showed he gave no shits about them.

Derrick is also a petty bitch and I love it.
 
Jesus, FINALLY. I know D-wreck has spoken out before; but this had a lot more clarity of intent, and wasn't totally written like shit. Good on ya, Derrick! I'm 100% convinced he sat by Anna at the trial not just to extend the olive branch for post-Pest life, but to gather intel to: a.) tank JB's campaign, b.) disseminate intel via gossip bloggers to chip away at remaining shred of credibility to the Duggar dynasty, and c.) write the book and get that money baybeeeee

For all of Derick’s faults (and they are many), I do feel like he genuinely loves Jill. I also feel that if he were given the opportunity to take Josh (and probably Boob too) for a long walk on a deserted country road with no repercussions, he’d do it. Buuuut, he can’t legally do that. He can, however, help Jill expose all this shit and burn the motherfucker to the ground. I say more power to him.

Yeah this whole family is super shady. I dont "stan" any of them. Who knows what else they are hiding. TLC has slowly downgraded over the years.

When I was a kid TLC had shows like Junkyard Wars where teams of engineers would run around a (probably seeded) junkyard and cobble together some mad max shit to serve some competitive purpose.

Now it's just land whales, Fundy pedos and troons.

Agreed. Derick has said some pretty awful things- but, while I disagree with those opinions and positions, I can respect the fact that, in his worldview, they're his opinions. Also, I see *a lot* of growth from these two. Derick came into this family's orbit by asking Jim Bob to be his prayer partner while he was in Nepal. Legend has it that Jim Bob recommended him to Jill. As a college grad, it's interesting that Derick chose to go to Nepal as a missionary. Jill, a homeschooled, people pleasing older daughter, only took the chance on Derick because her father vetted him. But, they've grown so much! I applaud Derick for challenging the status quo! Jill nearly died trying to give birth to a baby at home so it could be captured on camera for the show. When she had complications and baby Sam almost didn't make it, Derick stood up for his family and laid down the ultimatum that, if TLC wouldn't pay him or Jim Bob wouldn't make it right, then there would be no footage. That took some integrity and courage. Since then, they've been figuring it out and not allowing Jim Bob to guilt them or gaslight them. It's progress.

Counting family with voting rights in that area (and their in-laws/family connections), there are @120 adults in their family circle/church. The fact that he could only get a couple hundred non-related people to vote for him is telling. He got less than Jed was able to get and Jed had far less experience and connections. People spoke with their vote and, if I were Jim Bob and Michelle, I'd take the fucking hint and start looking at finding a new path. So glad he lost.
 
I'm curious but also genuinely too terrified to ask about the content of the videos he was caught with.

Hope he dies and that his kids and sisters get therapy.
