Reminder that there is a school on North Love Baptist property. Reformers Unanimous has a residential on Searles (I think) Ave. on the outskirts of Rockford IL. Within reasonable walking distance are a BMX track, Lockwood Park and Observatory which hosts numerous events for kids, and the Children's Farm. People act as if CP has always been some weird dark net thing. Like, they had to make laws and crack down against CP because it was quickly becoming “regular porn”. Like…. I’m not going to link shit. As for Jana's charge, I have a feeling we'll find out that she was cruising with a child who wasn't in a car seat. People are talking about a 'wandering' child; but, looking at the citation, it was issued at a crossroad with the main street outside the Duggar's house. It's also on a route between several Duggar homes. Rural roads. The way that citation is written, it almost makes me wonder if it was a moving violation or riding with kids in the back of a vehicle unrestrained. I mean, this is the same family that has back hoes and go-karts and guns laying around the property. For her to get that sort of charge mean's it's likely that someone was injured as a result of her actions. There are so many adults in that house that a child wandering off wouldn't be Jana's responsibility unless it was HER child. But, if she had a child in her car... or had a child in a vehicle an unsafe manner, that WOULD be on her.

Sheila from To Love Honor and Vacuum wrote a really nice piece (archive) on Josh's verdict and how it seems like in the evangelical and fundie communities, they treat lust as "every man's battle" or just a feature of being a man and expect woman to change to accommodate them. Once you treat sex outside of marriage vs sex inside of marriage as the big moral diving line, it’s tricky to subdivide your moral thinking further, especially if you’re in the type of fundamentalist cult that values black-and-white, all-or-nothing thinking. So in practice all kinds of “sinful lust” just get swept together into the same mental schema, whether it’s sex outside of marriage, masturbation, homosexuality, rape, or spending years downloading and diddling yourself to kiddie porn.

This is one big reason conservative Christian communities have trouble taking rape and child abuse seriously: because they’re sins of lust that go in the sins of lust box, and doesn’t everyone struggle with lust occasionally?

My mother who was from a small shithole in Texas told me as a kid about the practice of stumping- where they would take a suspected kiddy diddler out into the woods and soak a stump in oil. Then they would drive a few nails through their balls and set the stump on fire and hand them a knife. Of course the option was theirs as to their fate and with no medical response team anywhere near. This needs to be brought back. Nobody is seriously defending the Duggars or other child-raping fundamentalist lunatics here, the A&H regulars who have posted in this thread so far were perfectly happy that the pedo got caught, convicted and sentenced.

2. Pedophilia, as others who have gone against the subtext of this thread have already mentioned, has no inherent political, religious or ethnic affiliation. I was confused at first because based on that photo, there should have been more than just two murdered...turns out only the mother and younger brother were at home. Dumb fuckin' homeschooled kid didn't even know how to plot a mass killing right.

I think it was Wife Swap. If not that then Trading Spouses. It was a family that moved from the city to the sticks to get away from crime, ironic since the son killed the mom years later. I remember the family was so messed up that the mother from the family cried over them, and how repressed and damaged they were.

It wasn't just the mum, it was one of the brothers, too. The youngest. The family was the Stockdale family and they were on Wife Swap. The son who killed them tried to kill himself via shotgun mouthwash but somehow survived and is now in prison.

I feel so bad for Jana. She's been more of a mum to the Duggar brood than Michelle ever was and it's pretty damn understandable that she dozed off while watching some of her siblings. I have no idea why she lied to the police. Maybe she panicked? I feel like she can't win. She clearly doesn't want to get married, but by choosing to be single she's signing up to be a parent to her siblings and live under JB's roof for life.
