Well today they're focusing on how Josh's phone and texts place him alone at the car lot, texting he'll be late, but downloading pizza.

Anna wore black again to court. Joy and Austin, and derrick attended.

SHOPPING TRIP REVEALED
Josh Duggar went shopping with his wife, Anna, and made sure to snap a selfie of their outing just hours after downloading child sex abuse material on his work computer, according to text messages uncovered in the ongoing court case.
According to evidence at the trial on Friday, Josh left his car dealership for a trip to Lowes hardware store around 8:14 pm on May 14, 2019.
That was after a mass of illegal files were downloaded to his work computer that evening.
The Sun reporter at the trial on Friday claimed that after the short recess, Josh’s lawyer Justin Gelfand and seemed agitated.

The reporter said Gelfand raised his voice at one point towards James Fottrell during questioning, alleging that it might have been because Fottrell wasn’t answering the way that Gelfand wanted him to.

GELFAND'S ROUTER QUESTIONING
Attorney for the defense Justin Gelfand then asked James Fottrell about the router.
Gelfand said the IP address comes from the router, not a device.
He said a router shows what devices are connected and claimed Fottrell had never done forensic analysis on the router.

    He said the images were viewed through a video player and someone would have to physically be there to turn on the computer and open the files.

    The Sun reporter noted that Anna went to the bathroom and came back and started complaining to another woman, who may work for the lawyers, the reporter added.
    It was noted that her email and phone number were shown and she may have been upset because it was her personal information was on display.
    This was the first time the Sun reporter noted a strong reaction from Anna

There's no rhyme or reason to anything they do. It's not an organized religion with much of a hierarchy. Their church is run by Jim Bob and a few others. Being independent Baptist, each church operates as a sovereign polity. If they decide sinners should only wear green, or any other nonsense, jim bob and the other elders are the final word.

Quick morning break in Josh Duggar child porn trial. DOJ's James Fottrell still on the stand. Computer forensic evidence includes a backup of Josh Duggar's personal iPhone, which Fottrell used to place that phone at Duggar's car lot at exact time illegal material was accessed.

On remote access:
Hopefully the defense isn't able to confuse the jury with this one. I hope the prosecutors realized today that yest may have gone...over some jury folks heads and are trying to be very clear about stuff today

Prosecutors showed jurors screenshots of what Fottrell would have viewed as he examined Duggar’s desktop. On the Microsoft Windows side (which he used for his business) of the HP computer, Fottrell found files involving the setup of the Linux partition.
This also signified that someone had to be behind the keyboard. It’s “impossible” for anyone to use the Microsoft and Linux sides of the computer simultaneously, Fottrell said, and someone would need to process the installation tools and then be “physically present” to select which side of the computer to boot up once it's installed.

Yes and no. It’s very possible to assign a specific IP that the router should be looking for, and then set a matching IP address on the device. This is called a “static route,” since the devices IP address won’t change. This sort of thing is done on smaller networks that don’t change much or with devices you need to have an assigned IP for.

The defense is very clearly trying to confuse the jury, it’s not surprising at all.

Joy brought Anna a hug and coffee at one point but then returned to the back of the courtroom to sit with husband Austin. Derrick sat next to Anna.

REMOTE ACCESS
After the Sun reporter noted that during this questioning, Gelfand was being handed notes by his team, he asked Fottrell about remote access.
He asked Fottrell if there was nothing in his reports about remote access and Fottrell said that was correct.
He asked about Remmina, an app for the computer for remote access, and if a router would help with remote access, and Fottrell replied yes to both questions.
EDUCATED GUESS
Gelfand continued the line of questioning to Fottrell, asking if there was forensic evidence to show how a torrent was installed, and Fottrell said it was an experience educated guess.
They spoke more about torrents and the µTorrent client, which was installed the evening of May 14, 2019.
COMMAND CODES
The discussion then turned to command codes, which Justin Gelfand said were like a foreign language.
He asked Fottrell if he had found any evidence that Tor was installed by the app store, and Fottrell said he saw no evidence for any other way it was installed.
TOR USED FROM DECEMBER 2017
Gelfand then asked Fottrell if Josh Duggar's Mac computer had the Tor browser since December 2017, but not for child sexual abuse material, and Fottrell replied yes.
Gelfand noted that people can go to the Apple store to get Tor.
TOR USE DISCUSSED
Gelfand then brought up that Tor is easy to get and offers more security than other browsers, and that other browsers collect and sell info.
He then noted that someone might want to use it for extra privacy, and Fottrell agreed that someone might want to use it for privacy reasons.
Gelfand said Fottrell made Tor sound sinister, but that not everyone uses it for such purposes.
Fottrell agreed.
WHERE WERE THE FILES CREATED?
Gelfand then noted that the files couldn't have been created on the thumb drive and questioned where the files were created.
He also brought up a program that deals with remote access for the HP desktop.
WHERE IS THE THUMB DRIVE?Gelfand asked if any files were opened from the thumb drive on May 13, and Fottrell replied yes.Gelfand asked where the thumb drive is, and Fottrell said it was not seized by the government and he hasn't seen it.It was noted that the files on the thumb drive were never opened on the Macbook or iPhone.
RUFUS INSTALLATION
Gelfand and Fottrell then talked about Rufus, an app for Microsoft Windows that can be used to format and create bootable USB flash drives or Live USBs.
Fottrell said it was installed to the partition and Gelfand asked if a thumb drive was plugged in on the HP computer on May 13, 2019.Fottrell replied that it was.
CLAYMAN BACK UP
Clayman for the prosecution then questioned Fottrell again.
Fottrell said if Josh Duggar was on the computer at that time, he would have viewed someone else viewing child sexual abuse materials.
Fottrell said that was unlikely.
ACCESSIBLE?
Gelfand asked when a child sexual abuse material video is being streamed, if it could be accessible to anyone other than the person behind the computer.
Fottrell said it was possible, but not likely.
PAPARAZZI ANGLE
Gelfand brought up the paparazzi angle again, noting that personal information could be sold.
Fottrell replied "What information?" and that Tor is to hide location.

He noted that it allows anonymity for websites.
Fottrell said on the Linux side of the HP computer, he found Hidden
Wiki, which doesn't help you avoid paparazzi.
He said it has websites you can get to in order to commit crime.
POSSIBLE THUMB DRIVE DOCS
Two documents were also shown that were saved on Josh Duggar's laptop.
They were titled "Quiz Mommy Amy King Duggar."
Fottrell was asked if those could have been the two documents on the thumb drive.
He said they could be.
It was not confirmed if the name in question is the same as that of Amy Duggar, Josh's cousin.
NO ALTERED CONCLUSION
Clayman asked Fottrell if he had the router, if it would alter his conclusion that someone had downloaded child sexual abuse material.
Fottrell said no.
PROSECUTION QUESTIONS FOTTRELL
Then, William Clayman with the prosecution questioned Fottrell.
Clayman brought up routers and asked if they were significant, and Fottrell said only if there were no devices.
He said the router doesn't have useful info and just keeps track of devices connected to it
EVIDENCE DELETED?
Fottrell also said there was evidence some videos existed on the HP and were deleted.
Gelfand asked if the videos and images came from somewhere else other than the HP and Fottrell said yes for the videos.
However, he said no for 65 images
DEFENSE CASTS DOUBT
Gelfand spoke to James Fottrell about how he was relying on backup for the iPhone from the Macbook, making it limited.
He showed the phone and asked if Fottrell had analyzed the phones of others like Randall Barry, William Mize, Caleb Williams, or anyone else.
Fottrell said no and that he didn't have access.
PASSWORDS DISCUSSED
After the break, Gelfand spoke again of device passwords.
He went over passwords on the Macbook and one for Wholesale Motors from April 2018.
It was noted that the Intel1988 password was also used for the Duggar family Facebook and Twitter accounts.
He went over several times the password was used back to 2014, even when Josh Duggar worked at Family Research Council.
He said it was shared with many people.
SPECIAL AGENT PRYOR KNOWN FOR COVERING FEDERAL CASES
The prosecution called Special Agent Jeffrey Pryor to the stand earlier on Thursday.
KNWA/Fox24 noted that Pryor has been the lead agent over 100 times in federal cases and was the assistant team leader and search team leader in this situation.

Ok, this is the fun information I was looking for that the Sun wasn’t bringing. Prosecution witnesses doing an excellent job explaining how things work here. Computer forensics is an under appreciated field of work, and an important one. Good experts bringing good testimony, and the prosecutor focusing hard on the important link - that Josh’s phone was there, in the office. That Josh was using TOR already to bypass porn filters on his phone.

Defense has nothing. The router logs stuff was a nice touch though, it reminds me of Crazy Pillowman’s insanity. They’re probably hoping the jury is tuned into that world and will glomp onto it as proof the government is lying and there isn’t any proof. It’s a moonshot and a half.
 
The new information is incredibly damning, I'm starting to feel more optimistic about the outcome.

The news that he systematically abused his sisters and used force is incredibly awful and sad. I hope Jill absolutely murders him on the stand.
 
There is absolutely no method of torture painful enough nor hole in Hell hot enough for the fuckers who physically prey on kids themselves and/or the fuckers who distribute or watch any CSAM, and this goes double for “hurtcore.”

The violent nature of some of Josh’s assaults on his kid sisters, and them trying to fight back... And it went on for YEARS?! Fuck. Those poor girls, suffering through all that, and in a church and family that insists as girls, it was all THEIR fault for tempting him...

Predators like this always escalate. There is absolutely ZERO chance that he hasn’t already tried anything with his own children.

I agree with the FB witness that this goes beyond religion—Rimjob and Meech care for their personal image and their deviant rapist son moreso than the safety and wellness of their daughters and being semi-decent human beings—they failed at every single level, not only for their girls but also Josh; while I doubt intervention via proper disciplining, reporting to the authorities (formal report, not a mention to the trooper pal that Rimjob had in his back pocket who “coincidentally” just happened to also be a pedo) for actual punishment, and serious psychotherapy would have done anything for Josh, it WAS THEIR DUTY AS PARENTS and it would have done a substantial amount more than what they actually did. Which just proved to him that he can go do whatever he wants all hush-hush and get a slap on the wrist.

I disagree with the FB poster that Anna is being “genuinely tortured” by being “forced to sit through the court under guise of ‘commitment’,” I think that she would sit out all the evidence and charges if she could, because they’re ‘unpleasant’ for her to listen to, in the same way it is horrifying for ANYONE to listen to, but she would have shown up anyways because she IS committed to Josh! And she cares more about him than their children!

Anna could have left him anytime, she turned down multiple offers from siblings to house her and the kids so they could get away from Josh, offers that started several children and incidents ago... Yes, there’s the complicating elements of being stuck with children and raised in an abusive relationship in a very-patriarchal church that demonizes divorce, and having no marketable skills or life experience, but I also think that Anna just has a room temperature-IQ and she will never leave her piece-of-shit predator spouse.... like, did she ever even take a brief break from Josh by whisking the children with her to visit a sibling for a week or weekend? (Besides from when he was recently placed into a different fundie’s home before jail, I mean.)

Anna doesn’t seem to have any calling in life asides from listening to her husband (and Rimjob), and being a baby factory, which is kind of ironic because I think said husband prefers the kids that she pumps out instead of her.

I am really hoping the support for Anna on the parts of Derick, Joy, and Austin is their way of trying to protect the M Kids. Josh will be gone and Anna can't support herself. Unless she gets out, the kids will end up with Rim Job and Clown Car Pussy and history could easily repeat itself. Providing her support and kindness she needs could finally get her out. Okay, it almost definitely won't, but it is always worth trying when kids are involved.

Can someone explain "geolocation?" It is my understanding that it's like when ER services triangulate your location based on the pings from cell towers, is this the same thing? Is that why some of the headlines say Josh was sitting at the computer that was being used? Cant that shit be narrowed to like, a 10" area?

So is his location essentially circumstantial based in 1) he was taking pics at the lot with his phone, 2) said he was there but busy, which could *technically* be circumstantial, but his Geolocation can't be fooled?

Unforch the sun has the best updates but when journos write about court they can often get it wrong regardless of the network.
I like their updates and I hope they don't fuck anything up and get banned from the courtroom, so Id really like to know how The Sun seemed to piss off the judge.

I’m assuming that he was too stupid to turn the metadata off on his iPhone, so the photos he took have an exact GPS dot of where he was.

Can someone explain "geolocation?" It is my understanding that it's like when ER services triangulate your location based on the pings from cell towers, is this the same thing? Is that why some of the headlines say Josh was sitting at the computer that was being used? Cant that shit be narrowed to like, a 10" area?

So is his location essentially circumstantial based in 1) he was taking pics at the lot with his phone, 2) said he was there but busy, which could *technically* be circumstantial, but his Geolocation can't be fooled?

Unforch the sun has the best updates but when journos write about court they can often get it wrong regardless of the network.
I like their updates and I hope they don't fuck anything up and get banned from the courtroom, so Id really like to know how The Sun seemed to piss off the judge.

Ok. So, geolocation is pretty simple. Your phone is looking to connect to a tower. It’s sending out signals saying “I am a phone. I am this phone.”

If two or more cell towers are around, you can track where the signal is coming from based on direction. Draw a line from each tower. Where they intersect is where he is. This is how your location services and such on your phone work to tell you where you are on a map. It’s the same way GPS works.

Now, there’s a margin of error with this but the more towers you’ve got involved the smaller that gets. Using this location data, even with the margin of error, it shows that Josh’s phone was at a very specific place on the planet - very close to that computer while all this was happening. You aren’t able to lie about that. You can’t really fool geolocation beyond that margin of error. How do you think the CIA is able to nail a terrorist with a drone strike based on their phone transmissions?

However he also found logs on the iPhone11 indicating that Duggar regularly watched adult pornography, despite he and his wife having signed up to an online monitoring service named Covenant Eyes which was supposed to block his access to any online material classified as 'mature teen' and above.

I was wondering about Josh fleeing the country as well.
Scott Peterson was ready to do the same thing, he had his brothers ID, 10K in cash, and an entire survival package in his car when he was arrested.

Rim-Job and Meech have much more money than SP did, and private aircraft. I've always thought they may just help Josh flee.

Josh had to turn in his passport, and is on an ankle monitor. While the family might be insane enough to try to take him to the Caribbean or Mexico on John David's plane, but they'd have to cut his bracelet first. And knowing how drunk on hubris Josh is, and what stupid mistakes he makes while committing crimes, he'd be caught in a day or two, then charged with running from justice. Plus the Rebers would be jailed, and they'd have to agree to this consequence.
