The Queen spent Wednesday night in hospital for preliminary medical checks and is now back at Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace has said.
The 95-year-old monarch returned from hospital at lunchtime on Thursday and is "in good spirits", the palace added.
The Queen was said to be "disappointed" after cancelling a visit to Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
She was given medical advice to rest for a few days, after a busy schedule of public engagements.
In a statement on Thursday night, Buckingham Palace said: "Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits."
The Queen was seen by specialists at the private King Edward VII's Hospital in central London, about 19 miles (32km) from Windsor. Her admittance is understood not to be related to coronavirus.
The overnight stay was said to be for practical reasons and the Queen was back at her desk undertaking light duties on Thursday afternoon.
The King Edward VII's is a private hospital in London's Marylebone used by senior royals, including the Queen's husband, the late Duke of Edinburgh, who received treatment there earlier this year.
It has been a busy period of official engagements for the Queen.
She was pictured hosting a Global Investment Summit at Windsor Castle on Tuesday evening alongside Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
An official record of the Queen's diary showed at least 15 other formal events during October.
On Wednesday, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said the monarch had "reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for the next few days".
He said the Queen was "disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland" - which would have involved an overnight stay.
She is expected to lead a royal delegation to the Glasgow COP26 climate change summit in two weeks' time.
Earlier this week, the Queen declined a magazine's award of Oldie of the Year, saying "you are only as old as you feel".
She "politely but firmly" turned down the award, but sent the Oldie magazine a message with her "warmest best wishes".

Just a preliminary thread for now, but it's worth keeping an eye on, pretty sure this was how it started with Philip...

So earlier today when I heard the news, I asked my phone to play God save the Queen. It started a playlist with God save the Queen... by The Sex Pistols. It was then followed by Anarchy in the UK. Gotta say, pretty appropriate.
You know at one point they were given the chance to play that on top of Buckingham Palace and refused.

Apparently it wasn't very punk or something, which is a shitty response as it would have been very funny.

Why people give these figure head monarchs so much weight I'll never know. That being said nobody deserves what happened to the former Queen.

RIP my homie da kween.

Part of me wonders if the old bat was hanging around this long because she didn't want Charlie to take the throne and hoped he'd do something stupid so she could give the crown to Wills. But obviously she failed and everybody in Britbongland will have that twat's face on their money and stamps now.

RIP Elizabeth, your children all turned out to be scumbags or boring and dull. But you lived through a world war and your capital being bombed to shit, which is more than any of us will ever do.

She was a tough old broad and carried herself with unfailing dignity, and that's a quality that gets rarer by the day. RIP, Elizabeth...it's going to be weird without you.

Probably ninja'd, but what are the chances she decided to die just so she wouldn't have to have weekly meetings with Lizz Truss?

RIP to a nice old bird who's had to deal with decades of managing a dysfunctional family and be the figuregead of a decaying empire. At least Margaret and Philip were funny and Charles and William have a strong sense of duty. The rest of them are absolute disasters.

I couldn't post a meme in this thread that none of you guys haven't already seen/posted everywhere 10 times, but this is a sort of death of the 'Aesthetics' of Britain. Elizabeth II oversaw the complete decline of her country and the odds of any monarch being CLOSE to based is nonexistant.

Really feels like the end, and even if you don't like the UK and want it to die, whatever replaces it will be much much worse I bet

Hard to respect those who regarded Winston Churchill as more than a fat, bloviating debt slave.

I'm glad that old ghoul is dead. Call me an asshole for saying it all you want, I don't care. My country fought two wars so that I could verbally celebrate the death of an English Monarch and not be drawn and quartered for it. I'm glad I can exercise that right still.

Probably not the thing to take from this but she was "only" 96 when she died. Everyone saying she was immortal and yet she was younger than a lot of other stupidly old people (Betty White, Lucille Randon, a lot of WW2 vets, etc).

HM the Queen was assassinated by the Kiwi Farms yesterday in an attempt to get the media pointed elsewhere. This is corroborated by known the site’s operator Joshua Connor Moon claiming to have gotten an uplifting phone call mere hours before she passed, and refusing to elaborate upon the nature of said phone call.

Queen Elizabeth is survived by King Charles and several utter degenerate children.
