I think you all have forgotten that while he may have said some stupid shit, Tim Schafer is still a great game designer, Day of The Tentacle, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango are all classics.

Does anyone else think the next project for Tim Schafer should be a Full Throttle 2? Driving the hot rod in the open world segments of Brutal Legend gave me Full Throttle vibes at times, it'd be interesting to see an open world 3D take on Full Throttle.

It would be interesting to see him return to adventure games (outside of remasters). Full Throttle seems like it would have the most potential to get a sequel.
On that note, three weeks to go!

I picture as open world exploration but with adventure game puzzle solving and hand to hand combat sequences plus motorcycle combat of some type.

If I remember right he's said his next game will be smaller since he doesn't want to constantly be working on big projects. I could see it being something like Stacking again. I kinda doubt he'd do another point and click. Though he has said he's interested in making Brutal Legend 2 and if I remember right they were able to get the rights from EA. Just don't make it an RTS again.

I'd be down for a Brutal Legend 2, that was clearly supposed to be a story that continued considering we never really learn what the deal was with the protagonist's dad.

But of course hopefully the gameplay would be improved.

His next project should be his suicide note.

Psychonauts 2 is coming out August 25th. It seems Tim Schaffer managed to actually put together a game without running out of money this time, but only because Microsoft gave them a bunch of money late in to development.

Here are some various links that are relevant.

I personally run Ubuntu 21.04, and Psychonauts 2 does not natively support Linux yet (though it is planned). When I get it to run I'll post my information about my configuration here.

Probably the first game I've been genuinely excited about getting released in a few years.

did you know?
Tim Schafer is a perfect anagram for Mr. Shitface

Psychonauts is a relic of a bygone age, mainly it being styled like a children's tv show in both jokes and style. Nowdays it's all calarts shit woth terrible colouring, even shit like the Milkman conspiracy won't happen because it will be considered right wing.
I have little doubt the game will have shoehorned politics and degenerate shit.

Big fan of the first Psychonauts, always been proud to say that I bought it when it was new.

I'm excited for this sequel but I am girding myself for the fact that there's bound to be some Woke bullshit, there's no a way a game made in Than Franthisco in current year isn't going to throw in some virtue signaling digs at whatever bugbears those people believe need some digs thrown at.

But I'm optimistically willing to believe it won't be enough to ruin it.

Play the video at 1:36. That 2 second scene is all you need to see.

Did you play the first one? That's not out of character for her at all. It's not them being "ohhhh stronk woman all woman are stronk," that's literally just the character bro. It's kind of campy, but the games are purposefully campy. Seems totally in the same spirit of the original.

I'm honestly not that concerned about it having a bunch of woke stuff. Tim Schafer has always been very liberal and it hasn't affected his writing or design before in a negative way, only in a positive way (like trying to accurately represent hispanic art in Grim Fandango which was great).

I was talking with someone on my profile abiut my hopes for the new one and I said this:

"My favourite [level] is probably the Milkman Conspiracy because its level design just blew my mind as a kid playing it, with Black Velvetopia or Gloria's Theatre being my second favourite. As I get older I think I have a greater appreciation for the latter two for how well they convey mental illness artistically, and feel a slight desire that they would have somewhat more broken the comedic atmosphere of the Milkman Conspiracy to convey the serious suffering people with schizophrenia go through. The comedic part is real, people like Terry or Francis E Dec are funny as hell from the outside, but the amount of suffering they go through is easily more severe than any other mental illness. I hope in 2 they put a spotlight on that duality in one of the levels, the comedy and the tragedy of schizophrenia through the abstract art they're known for, it could be a really profound experience that I think Psychonauts is uniquely positioned to take on."

And I largely think the new one will do that from what I've seen so far. I don't think this is overly optimistic, Tim Schafer has always been Tim Schafer and his games have never really suffered for it.

While I didn't play Psychonauts until about 2017 on my PS4, the game stuck in the back of my mind for a few years due to recalling an episode of Cheat! done by X-Play back when G4TV was still around (Ahhh, childhood memories) before it eventually died.

I've been excited for a sequel and the humor hasn't gotten too shitty, with a few highlights in the second game from previews being a couple in the casino level attempting to have a baby and use it for tax write-offs.

I'm already braced for the woke shit once I saw the black kid intern wearing a dress, way before footage came out.
