I'll try to avoid sharing too much (probably gonna fail anyway), but I was on Risperidone for a few years, mostly during high school. Absolutely hated it, it drained the life out of me and effectively neutralized me into a lifeless machine that somehow kept humming along until I got off of it. This wasn't even 10 years ago, I have no idea why they felt okay with putting me on a first-gen antipsychotic (off-label) when I wasn't an adult yet.

The funny part is that I didn't have schizophrenia or anything remotely close to it, I was just an irritable teenager. Maybe a bit more than most, but I was never violent or anything like that.

I can't describe exactly what it felt like to be on it for so long because that time period is just mud in my mind. On weekends I'd sleep until 3 PM because I didn't see a point in getting up. Even playing video games like a lazy fuck was a chore. Never again.

It's insane that they think this is acceptable side effects. Fucking psychs should be forced on it themselves and see if they like it. Necessary treatment my ass

Destroy everything in your home and tear down the walls.

I dunno. I knew a schizo that was pretty much like that person from that m. night shamalam movie when not on their meds and almost a functional human being while on them. But I also know a guy who was prescribed the same drugs for retarded reasons and they completely fucked his brain up and literally made him insane.

Oh yeah I'm aware of the bad side of antipsychs. It neuters both highs and lows, and you just feel like a bag of flesh waiting to be slaughtered. On the other hand, it can be useful in very, very small doses, depending on the person.

I would suggest to switch meds if you can, and take the lowest amount that makes you NOT want to build a gorilla nest without detrimenting everything else.

Edit:

Lookout, this guy has autism and (maybe) big milkers. Hope you got your money from that class action lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson!

But really, the corporate executives that sold this junk should be haunted by the ghosts of dead retard children.

However, I'm cautiously optimistic about it, because I know thinking you're cured can be part of the whole schizo thing.
Yeah, it's kinda common for schizos who go off their meds to retain mentation for a while so they won't tell you about their delusions because they recognize them as delusions. If they trust you, they probably will though.

I'll never forget my schizo friend in college who went off his meds and started talking about how great he felt and then casually asked if I was aware of anyone who had developed the ability to speak to animals. Buddy if the dogs are speaking English you need to go find that pill bottle.

Imo if your schizo symptoms are harmless you don't need meds. When I'm off meds and agitated I can talk to my (imaginary) very annoying best friend forever but it doesn't impact my life in any meaningful way

Meds work well for positive effects of schizophrenia but it does fuck all for the negative effects so if you're the breed of schizo who's seeing shit and tripping balls all the time but suffer no flat affect, etc etc you're more likely to return to being a normal person on meds

I was misdiagnosed with depression and each drug was bad in its own way. One psychiatrist even tried me on Seroquel because some days I wasn't "depressed". That drug made me incapable of anything.
Luckily I found out about ADHD Rejection Sensitivity, and how I was internalising my overreaction to rejection. I've learnt to break down my response to the triggers drug free and I've become a lot happier.
There's no drug to treat RSD, so oddly it is underdiagnosed.

Not gonna power level, but Byuu suffered from it, and I totally understand why he got so bad.

I have become completely radicalized against psychiatry. Psych meds are a scam. So many people believe that they are fixing a "chemical imbalance" but that's simply not true. They have never found any chemical cause for any mental illness. Unfortunately drug companies have pushed this myth so hard that even many prescribers believe it. They create a chemical imbalance which produces therapeutic effects which may or may not be beneficial to someone with a mental illness. They don't even do this that well. Studies have shown antidepressants are barely more effective than placebo. And the withdrawl can be brutal. I know because I've experienced it myself multiple times. It's so bad it has driven people to suicide. So many people are stuck on these things for life because of how hard it is to come off. Not to mention all the life-ruining side effects that prescribers will never mention to you.

Prescribers hand these things out like candy. When you get side effects they prescribe more pills to counter those side effects. When you try to get off and get withdrawl, they tell you it's your mental illness returning and put you back on them. Psychiatry as a profession is just an elaborate marketing tool for drug companies. They are not interested in curing you. If you want to know their true business model, look at the opiod crisis. It is far more profitable to hook people for life than cure them.

I think one has to accept that this is it and either find their own way to live with it. Shrinks might think they're helping but their field of study is a meme
