I don't think it's meant to be a Yan ID, rather just a callback to him. Yan's story isn't over now that he's been un-booked and is essentially a machine that does nothing but follow the prescripts to the letter; presumably he's one of the Index's best weapons and we'll see him again in future works

That and it'd feel really bad to get what should be such a strong and notable ID at this point when it'll be inevitably powercrept. Yan was a big boy SotC and his key page was endgame, it'd be like giving a sinner a Red Mist or Xiao ID out of the blue

Don has short spiky hair, and the presumed daughter seems to have long straight hair like Ryoshu used to have and her mother currently does.

Well this is based on some data mined stuff, but my assumption was that eventually he un-distorted and the Index installed the weird gear on him in order to forcefully efflorescence his ego since the ID is an effloresced EGO ID. Other than that due to losing all of the stuff he had previously I think if it is Yan, his loss of status and gear would be an explanation for his loss of power.
 
My crackpot theory or prediction on the daughter

First theory, Ryoshu kills her daughter with her ego forest for the flames. Second theory, she is the daughter in this shenario she is taking the role as yuzuki but that theory doesnt hold weight due to ykno name tags like hong lu, dq, and outis being stone while ryoshu has a normal tag for non alias. 3rd theory

I mean, I guess that would be an explanation. But it seems like a real stretch to me. I don't see Yan un-distorting given his reason for distortion was a pretty big event showing that the prescripts aren't just meaningless gibberish and what he thought was free will was all orchestrated by them. I guess he could un-distort if a prescript asked him to
My retarded guess of why it looks similar to Yan's distortion is that the Index are using him as a blueprint to awaken EGO/distort members

But I still think it's most plausible that it's nothing more than a "hey look this ID looks kind of like distorted Yan isn't that cool"
 
And if they really want a Distorted Yan ID, they could've just, ya know, made it as Ruina related walpurgis or someshit, but we got it on Canto 9
which means some special shit must be afoot that it can't just be Walpurgis-related.
 
That wasn't that bad, just beat 9-18 on my second try. I didn't even have to level my sinners this time.
This Canto is starting off so strong. I hope it doesn't lose steam like Ish's Canto.

There's no twinkle in Index Don's eyes. There is no adventure, only the will of the prescripts exist in her mind.

Is anyone else thinking that they won't bring up Lei Heng in Ryoushus past? I know they 'mentioned' him already, but it was pretty offhandedly. He was a teacher for her as well, wasn't he? You'd think she has some memories pertaining to him as well.

I just have a hunch that because he's dead, he won't even appear in the past, despite having good reason to show up there. Or maybe Konfucious beat him so hard he simply ceased to exist even in memory.

He was just a passing tutor, one of many iirc. He might still appear as a cameo, but I'd rather they focus on the Nursefathers.

I'm willing to bet this isn't significant and is just a mistake.
ryoshu's sword for instance looks like someone accidentally hid one of their layers in photoshop.

It's most likely just production images that were left in, I don't get why they'd do some messy ARG type of thing when the parts release weekly, I wouldn't be surprised if we see them get patched in the changelogs

Anyhow I saw this going around, if anyone wants to come up with their own theories at whatever the hell Index Don could be
