I beat the final boss but at the cost of my pride i used a sinking team. 3 attempts too my pride has been shattered. First team was rupture i got to 32 and died. then bleed took 10 turns then i aborted it. then i sold my soul to the devil for a golden violin.
Right now at writing this journal im watching xichun send her farewells off to the sinners i will go off my notes after i see that bitch demain
Rip Lei weng he awakened chesed for us but sadly ryoshu didnt get to great slash horizontal the guy. Vergilius probably got fraud charges after this due to his mang count being 2 while conficius and demain got like 5 while lei has 1. Cant wait to see ryoshu being a former pinky and shi member, I remember hating the orb thing while doing my rupture attempt ig sinking is just too good for fluid sacs and LAMENT. I wonder what jia huan stabbed while fleeing i know they stole like a piece of jia mu n shit while xiren was sweeping water. Oh yeah i cant believe hong lu popped his domain expansion with all the tears he was holding back flooding the house of elderly fans. Oh wow this pass on p good thanks gregor for starting the trend, i think i can sing it above poorly with all the pass ons being on my playlist. Meursault wei id please. Sinclair truly is growing on me hes a tiny ryoshu and heathcliff. While writing this the two fights i struggled on got nerfed im truly the best manager. I may have jumped the gun theres no blue faggot here but ig its ncorp. Now going through screenshots wow gubo and huan got spartan shields why didnt the sinners wait 6 seconds. I wonder if people are gonna edit the 3 words things for the other cantos for background papers cause i'd would love futility determination and love on my pc background for a bit. My favorite elder design gotta be either the bloodfiend or the bloodtank guy. and im kinda sad we got name drops like Rcorp and Xcorp but we only fought the thumb and shi family now sperg is over cause i ran out of stuff thank you for reading ig

While the presentation and fights were nice, the 3rd part felt way too short for my liking and I think the ending was yet another case of being wrapped up too quickly. Grandmother Jia really needed another phase/transformation because she was extremely easy and honestly felt a bit anti-climatic? The hype up of a bunch of factions followed by a beeline straight towards Jia Xichun, which while not a bad thing, certainly made me a bit disappointed too. But despite this, the whole package absolutely shits on Canto VII regardless.

Won't comment on anything else you posted 'cause Im still digesting how I feel on the chapter as a whole, as for the boss a lot of 'final bosses', whether from a Chapter or Railway, seem to be a 'congrats, heres your finalle' and the outright hard bosses / fights come a few before.

Looking back through the chapters,
  • the real Don Quixote can be soloed with Lantern Don
  • Heathcliff and Cathy were more of a setpiece than a fight
  • Ahab can be annoying but if you can clash her you'll win handily
Comparing these to Bloodfiend trio, Nelly, Piquod trio, I would argue these encounters were much harder.

Same goes for Railway,
  • My Form Empties seemed intimidating until you realise you can ignore the mechanic the first few turns to burst down the Lured Bosses to speed up the encounter
  • The difficulty of Sign of Roses was not dieing of boredom before getting to the fight
  • Spiral of Contempt was only hard if you didnt play into its mechanic to remove its resistances
  • King of Binds' summoned pecatula were harder than the actual boss
  • 400 Roses actively made itself weaker if you refused to feed it blood, as well as bloodfiend IDs actively gimping it
Limbus definitely has its difficulty spikes, I just wouldn't go looking for them in any of its finalles

Did people really have *that* much trouble with the Capo? I cleared him on my "first" try, (second try, technically, I just bounced on battle start and filled in my backup members) and I didn't have any trouble. He didn't deal too much damage, or outrageous burn number or anything like that. If I'm going to be honest, grandma kicked my ass way harder than he did.

I liked the last part overall. I kinda wish that the lineup to the final boss had more enemy variety in it rather than mostly being more of the same enemies you fought in the dungeon.

I had a pretty hard time with the Capo/Pinky guy until I used Tremor giving Regret Faust two slots. Grandma was way easier for me since I found it much more cheesable using a Bleed/Faust Fluid Sack team. Other than that I liked the ending, we already got a lot of time with the granny earlier and Qiu being a member of the Pinky makes the second half of his critique about Jiu Huan make more sense to me. He basically called him a rationalist, which is contrary to the Pinky's belief in true humanity.
I also liked being able to put Gubo and Jia Huan on the ropes, their fight was pretty easy but finally being able to catch up to them and partly get in their way was nice. Even if we didn't stop them from completing all of their objective.
The Ryoshu build up was nice as well, I'm looking forward to her Canto more than I did Hong Lu's and Don's.

Finished the 3rd act. Overall this canto is a big step up in terms of scope. It might have more characters in it than introduced in every canto beforehand combined. The sinners also feel like they get respect finally and a lot of things fall into place. I liked the idea of a dungeon in the middle since that doesn't keep the player from replaying the final battles. The battles themselves were alright. The first one is easy until the last part where you have to rush the boss down or he will outclash and annihilate you. I did with a sinking team since it mitigates a lot of his damage. Beforehand I broke the bank trying to do it with Rupture team, but the time to just memorize the skills to get it going is too long and RNG dependent.

Final boss was the opposite, a really annoying start with lots of bleed and rupture to fuck you over, but once you get sanity up it's pretty much an interactive cutscene, one that is way too long considering it took me over 30 turns to do. I think it's worth it to start thinking about nukes, since a lot of bosses give you very little time to attack.

RIP bleed. It was fun while it lasted, but so many bosses pack unbreakable coins, it's a nightmare to keep it working.

Still has its uses in MDs where Wound Clerid + Rusted Muzzle is effectively a blank check countwise, and if you're running Bloodfiends which need bleed for their pool

Finished it all and enjoyed it more than I thought I would, Mili song was really great. Lei Heng wasn't bad with Sinking, even managed an 800 deluge on him and then realized I could have easily got it a lot higher and finished quicker. Only fight I think I found annoying was Gubo and Jia Huan because I was running sinking and they seemed to thrive on that but got it on the first try. Final Boss I did with a Bleed team and had no problems, definitely easier than most of the other fights but I'm not going to complain.

Final bosses being easier than prior fights seems to be the rule rather than the exception

If Kim keeps using unbreakable coins then I have my god given right to spam lenticular strikes and rules of the backstreets back at the bosses for free under the conditions of a 3 node lust resonance.

It's still doable, you just need to wait for Walpurgis Night and shard this.

I managed to get both bosses to 99 bleed and maintain that potency through most of the fight. But it is very reliant on EGO usage, so you need to manage your resources and sanity well.
Edit: By the way, KK Ishmael's S3 doesn't remove bleed count under the effects of Sanguine Desire, making it one of the better skills to slot whenever you use the EGO.

I kept unknowingly tripping at the finish line 5 separate times when the guys health was at .9k-1k.
I ended up beating him with an extreme bootleg team of whatever the fuck has a high clash and of course, old reliable

For once, I agree that this encounter is overtuned.
the N corp fight was hilariously easy considering they were built up to be stronger than us since they were 2nd ranked in coins.
Also, its clear that either ayin or carmen are helping direct N corp's project.

Final boss was meh, better than real don but not really note worthy tbh.

Honestly I was expecting xichun to die and that the new wing war was going to be what heralded the incoming apocalypse.

overall I think 6 > 4 == 3 > 8 > 7 > 1 > 5 > 2

surprisingly Chains of others completely nullify his unbreakable coins from doing -30% instead of -80%

Shoutout to Lei Heng for having one of the hardest death scenes in this game, one of the few moments that this game made me go "Oh shit!"
As for general feelings, I find canto 8 to be a hit or miss, Hong Lu's conflict is more internal so its hard to show clearer character growth without a lot of inner dialogue, the writing is subtle about this and you have to pay attention to the details. So maybe the reason some are dissapointed with it is because they have a more simpler version of the canto in their minds.
The fights were alright, I beat Heng first try without the nerf, N Corp group forced me to read the passives and the final fight took me like 30 turns to finish, what a marathon that was. I really dislike the notion of turning fights into EGO spam performances, but it seems we're headed down that way.
I think canto 6 is at the top because Heath's VA killed it and we love despair, but Hong Lu's is the complete opposite, everything just went right, hope fucking WON and Confucius is welcome onboard the bus anytime

I think one of the major issues is that DoTRC is an extremely complicated work of literature, and like no, the content isn't super complicated, but it's been painstakingly analyzed from every perspective, from Historical Romantic Drama to Feminist Dark Comedy.

Because of this, its not like Don Quixote where everyone sort of "agrees" on what it's "on".

I'm not going to pretend to be some kind of enlightened redologist on the matter, but it seems like this is a commentary on how the experiment of the rock in heaven was basically the Confucius version of the story of Job. The presence of immortals watching and the context of what the rock is is way, way too much to ignore.

But I might as well be an enlightened master for how absolutely fucked the average reader was. The Yang translation (the online pdf) is apparently extremely focused on the romance bits. The problem is, that's about 1/3 and the rest is maid shenanigans and Jia Family shenanigans detailing everything falling apart in the background. Then theres about 500 pages of literal, nonsensical fanfiction that turns Hong Lu into Confucius Jimmy Neutron included without comment.

As a reader, I was very impressed with the portrayal of such a clusterfuck of a setting and how they pulled off a message that (IMO) was a rather unique interpretation. You can read the book (at least my translation, which ends with the rock leaving behind a very confused, utterly baffled Hong Lu) and its a perfectly valid interpretation.

El' Director listened to my prayers for MORE UNBREAKABLE COINS.
Best part is that
when you restart the fight, you are FORCED to watch your sinners get fucked before the actual fight begins.
