Project Wingman reminds me most of Ace Combat 4, most missions involve blowing up a ton of enemies. I don't think there are any gimmick missions. Which is fine to me, I gimmick missions usually suck.

"The enemy... they have a super-sized flying aircraft carrier carrying nukes and it is launching fighter jets at us!" bonkers stuff like that is fun and it will happen unless they changed the formula in later games. The latest game in the series I played was AC4 but it felt like Project Wingman had some of that old spirit in it but I didn't play much of that game. That does sound fun. And it also explains why I probably never made it too far into the Ace Combat games. Always felt wanting more.
And now I want to play Rogue Squadron 3 for some reason... talk about a game leaving you wanting more.
I'd say it is worth it. You get a new selection of talkative squaddies and being on the Fed side the first mission is covering the retreat from the Snowball in mission 11 on the Merc side.So how's the DLC on Steam? Is it worth 5 bucks?
Isn't that basically Conquest Mode, though?Man I forgot how good PW is. Makes me want to go emulate the PS2 trilogy again. My #1 issue with AC/ PW is....I always want more. I hate when I'm done with the game. I'd kill for random mission generators to just go blow stuff up.
Yeah sorta. I was thinking more in the Ace Combat games.Isn't that basically Conquest Mode, though?
Come on, man. The mission briefing usually doesn't bullshits you on what needs to be done.Half the time I had no idea what my objective was
No, the briefing is fine. It's just trying to understand what's what in the middle of the chaos that's hecticCome on, man. The mission briefing usually doesn't bullshits you on what needs to be done.
As a word of encouragement, learning the controls is like 90+% of the difficulty. And given how consistent the controls have been since ~AC4 it'll carry over to other entries easily (I guess that's true of a fair number of genres/series, but it feels particularly true for AC).The controllers are really hard to master.
Half the time I had no idea what my objective was, and trying to understand what each aircraft does was like trying to decipher an alien language.
Most of the shit is just filler, but the general goal is to just kill off everything or taking down a gunship. Except for that one specific mission where you're avoiding shooting down the civilian planes. It's just trying to understand what's what in the middle of the chaos that's hectic
