Possibly. Retroviruses mutate at a prodigious rate, and retroviral drugs act as a strong selector for resistance strains. In each patient, the virus follows a different -- and individually identifiable -- evolutionary trajectory. So each HIV+ patient is in effect carrying a genetically slightly different virus, and you can use this info to trace the very person who has pozzed your neg hole.
 
Perhaps, a strain of the virus has found a way to manipulate the host in to having the desire to spread the infection. it would be both fascinating and horrifying at the same time.

Or maybe the weakening of the immune system allows other diseases that fuel such behavior to become more dominant.

Both the toxoplasmosis parasite and the cordyceps fungus did that.

Correct! Parasites and viruses are pretty similar to each other. Remember that drug that caused a shitstorm because it was price hiked by Martin Shkrelli? That drug can treat toxoplasmosis. An AIDS patient needs to kill that parasite quick as their immune systems fucked.

Except that Toxoplasmosis is especially harmful in people with COMPROMISED immune sytems. You know, the same thing that HIV does to your immune system.

He price hicked it because that medication was painfully inefficient at killing toxoplasmosis and he wanted to use the overpriced sale of it to fund research for a better treatment.

Or so he claims...
