In some places, there are HIV-specific laws against it. In other places, it might go under some kind of mayhem statute, or attempted murder, though that would have been more likely when it was a guaranteed death sentence. Almost anywhere, the victim could sue you for negligence at the very least.

What laws would be broken would really depend on the context and the motivation for doing it.

Pretty sure it counts as some form of bodily harm under UK law (can't remember the difference between 'actual' and 'grievous', but it's one of them).

Yes, round about 2000, there were definitely prosecutions of HIV positive guys who'd been wilfully spreading it around like there was no tomorrow. (Which, I suppose from their point of view, there wasn't...) I don't know if there's been any in recent years, though...

Where's the FBI when you need them?

The deliberate attempt to spread AIDS, consent or no, should be a universal felony. The more they spread it to each other on purpose, the more they risk accidental spreads to the general public.

Also, if you play "bloodsports" you're fucking retarded. Nevermind HIV, have fun with that cardiac arrest, shithead.

From what I understand food preparation has a very low risk of HIV transmission so at least the restaurant isn't nearly as bad an idea as, say, having unprotected sex with random people from Craiglist.

Imagine if one of the cooks cut their hand and didn't realize it. The chance of infection is low, but you can't mess around with AIDS, considering it's a lifelong disease.

I ain't going to the Hep C or Gonorrhea restaurant either, but I guess those aren't supposed to be sources of pride?

Incurable, cannot be vaccinated, cannot be held at bay, unleashes other dormant diseases, will eventually kill you.

No chance in Hell.

Oh it gets worse! One of the most common treatments for AIDS is an antiretroviral drug known as azidothymidine. It is effective...for a while. The virus can evolve rather quickly and end up being resistant to treatment.

So you mean to tell me that carriers receiving treatment are actively making this disease stronger?

Beautiful.

At the moment, HIV doesn’t seem to be a death sentence anymore, at least in the West.
Thanks to newer antiretrovirals, HIV is now a chronic condition. It’s still shit to have and there are sideffects to the drugs, but it’s somewhat manageable now.

Irrelevant, it will always be morally repugnant to deliberately inflict suffering on another being, especially for your own enjoyment
