A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier was shot Friday afternoon in Everett, and a package delivery driver is in custody, according to Everett police.

Officers and medics received a call at around 12:50 p.m. to respond to the West Mall Place Apartments for reports of a shooting, according to police.

The mail carrier was delivering mail and was confronted by another individual, according to Postal Inspector John Wiegand.

“A small altercation took place where unfortunately the carrier was shot in the face," Wiegand said.

The mail carrier was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment, according to Wiegand.

Neighbors tell KOMO News they are shocked to hear about the shooting.

"It's just heartbreaking," said neighbor Jelani Jones. "I know him as the mailman, he’s a good dude. I can’t believe that. He’s always good with people in our neighborhood.”

Residents also said they felt safe in the building before the shooting, which they believe happened in or near the mail room of the apartment complex.

Around 4:15 p.m., the postal truck and Amazon delivery van were removed from the scene. An Everett police officer was following the tow truck that was carrying the tow truck.

Police did not confirm the shooter is a delivery service partner, but witnesses reported the man went to the office of the complex and reported he had just shot a postal worker.

Police said the suspect is expected to be booked into the Snohomish County jail tonight.

“USPS workers don’t let people in the area when they have the mailboxes open. The Amazon driver didn’t particularly like that, they got into an argument, which escalated to a shoving match, which escalated to the Amazon driver shooting the USPS guy in the freaking eye!!! Then he sat there calmly and waited for the cops to show up and claimed self defense,” a poster named Rich Ryan said on Facebook.

I know more about this than the average Kiwi I guess. Most new apartments have locker systems for carriers like Amazon, UPS and FedEx. They are often in the same room or area as the USPS mailboxes. For whatever reason, USPS has to open every single box all at one time. I have often heard them ask residents to leave the area but never another delivery driver. It's kind of understood everyone has a job to do and you don't fuck with each other, especially because your paths shouldn't intersect.

So, unless it was a probationary USPS employee*, I doubt this was a first incident for these guys. Either they got into it before or the Amazon guy tried to grab mail or something.

*They would be able to be terminated for it if they were caught letting someone in the area. Once probation is over, the union won't let them get fired.

Amazon = Nigger or Jeet
USPS = Crapshoot. Could be anything.
Bzzt, sorry no points. Crazy white fatty who thought he was being stalked by the mafia and alleged he had been shot before on the job. Victim will survive but lose the eye.

The Amazon contractor, identified as 26-year-old Blake Michael Kuhlman, was arrested Friday after Everett police responded to a shooting in the 9300 block of West Mall Drive around 1 p.m.

The USPS worker was shot in the head and taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The report released Monday indicates the postal worker is expected to survive, but will lose his eye.

A witness to the altercation between the Kuhlman and the postal worker said the two were arguing prior to the shooting.

In the arrest report, police quote the following from the witness' statement.

"I saw the mailroom door close and argument between the USPS man and the Amazon man. The USPS man shoved the Amazon driver and shouted 'why the f*** are you shoving me? The Amazon driver then pulled out a pistol and shot the USPS man in the head."

Detectives said Kuhlman told them he was being "cyberstalked" by the mafia and he had "suspicions that the USPS worker may have been a mafia assassin."

"(Kuhlman) also reported having been priorly shot by both rifles and crossbows while on the job delivering packages, but that he had never reported this to the police as there was no evidence, and this was why he was wearing the plate carrier at the time of his arrest," the arrest report states.

Kuhlman was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on a charge of first degree assault. Kuhlman appeared in court Monday afternoon. Prosecutors argued that Kuhlman is a public safety risk and asked for bail to be set at $1 million, which a judge agreed to.

"Throughout the interview, (Kuhlman) continued to assert that this was a clear case of self-defense and he was expecting to get all of his property back, and was surprised that he was being booked into jail," the report states.

According to police, Kuhlamn had two firearms on him, as well as a bulletproof plate carrier with a large knife mounted to it and a pistol magazine holder. An investigators said the weapons and vest were concealed under Kuhlman's Amazon uniform.
Looks like his brother(?) is better off at least
