Didn't see much of a thread regarding all the fine antics of Portland and the people who live there, so I thought to make one.

Lesbian bar shuts down one week after opening because they weren't woke enough

Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.” Similar to the story I wrote a few weeks ago about the queer-owned cafe in Philadelphia that was shut down by employees for not being woke enough, Doc Marie’s was cannibalized by the woke mob.

The crowd on opening day was huge. One woman said that the line for entry on opening night was “wrapped around the block” with “literally 200 lesbians” waiting to get in.

But the excitement about a new progressive hangout dissipated quickly. Within days, Doc Marie’s found itself on the receiving end of accusations of not being inclusive enough for trans people and people of color. Despite mask mandates being lifted in Portland, patrons accused the bar of not implementing enough COVID safety measures. Patrons also claimed that Doc Marie’s had “culturally appropriative art” on the walls.
One TikToker, who says she attended the grand opening, breaks down the accusations against the bar:

Employees of Doc Marie’s created an Instagram page to echo these concerns. They claimed that the owners weren’t proactive enough in creating a safe space and accused the owners of racism. The employees also demanded that the bar host “free opportunities for education” for the community.

Eventually, the employees demanded the owners relinquish ownership of the bar and hand the business to them. The owners were given a “24-hour deadline” to adhere to the ludicrous demands.

Just five days after opening, the bar announced on July 6th that they had to close temporarily in order to address the cries from the woke mob for a “safe and inclusive space.”

Surrendering to the woke mob doesn’t appear to be working out in Doc Marie’s favor, as the bar remains closed with no public plan to reopen.

Putting a drug addict in jail doesn't stop them them from using majority of the time. They get caught with dope, do a month in county jail, get out, go score some dope and continue to commit petty crimes to feed their habit. This cycle continues for years and years. If you give them harder sentences you are clogging up prison and jails with non violent offenders who really don't even belong there if you don't punish hem at all they just shoot up on the street and menace people. You can't really win. Most don't want treatment or any sort of help. I have no solution.
Junkies are less of a societal burden in jail than outside.

It's called an insane asylum. Imagine all the hobo encampments and freaky weirdos in Portland and most every other city on the West Coast, but all under one roof.

I think if someone is an addict they don't care if it's illegal or not they are going to get their next fix. Do I think we should decriminalize drug through? Not at all. I don't think a heroin junkie is deterred by jail time at all.
You guys can pontificate all you want, I see the actual real world results of this shit outside my home every single day. It doesn't work.

Looks like the Multnomah county DA, Mike Schmidt, who refused to actually prosecute criminals was defeated by a candidate who claims to want more tough-on-crime policies.

Schmidt was a Soros DA, so it's good that he's gone. But since it's Portland, even a "moderate" DA is likely to be far softer on crime than necessary. Still, it's a white pill that even the absolute braindead retards in Portland seem to be able to recognize that not prosecuting criminals makes people's lives worse.

Funny because I see far more of the thisisfinedog.jpeg retards in this city than the wimpy leftists who will at least admit shit is fucked but don’t have the balls to break away from the cult and vote different. I “respect” the wimpy leftists more because they at least are willing to admit things are bad and need to change, the majority of Portland though is the extreme Jim Jones cultist types who will almost certainly vote to keep Mike Schmidt in as DA and continue this city’s downward spiral while gaslighting anyone who says different.
The same as the liberals who realize that troons are sexual predators, they'll just blame strawman conservatives somehow, and keep on doing their best to rot out society.

The race is being called for Vasquez, but it seems like there are still a bunch of last-minute ballots out there that have been strongly favoring Schmidt. If they reverse this with newly found/printed ballots, local politics could start to get real interesting.

Time will tell. It only took Schmidt a few years to turn Portland into a third world country under siege. The biggest challenge will be reforming and hiring police that would WANT to do their job. Many "good," seasoned police went out of dodge after the riots. Who can blame them if their city will undo their work and put their head in the guillotine from public pressure.

You know every election I should expect it, but I'm still surprised by how many FUCKING measures pass for public funding that are supported by property taxes. Multnomah county is the highest taxed in the country, unironically, and people are bitching about housing costs without realizing that this shit trickles down to rent prices because OBVIOUSLY it would.

I swear, every year I've seen a measure that's basically "increase property taxes to fund schools more", and 90% of the funding gets siphoned into useless faggot superintendents or other admin staff while every class is 50 hispanic kids to 1 teacher.

I've been wondering for awhile if our elections are "fortified." Mostly just because it's hard to believe that the voters can be so dumb.

Put them in some sort of institution where they get whatever drugs they want, but they're not allowed to leave unless they choose to get clean. It actually would be fascinating to see how many would agree to that.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A person was electrocuted and then fell 40 feet near Sellwood Riverfront Park Wednesday evening.
Portland Fire and Rescue said they responded around 5:05 p.m. on reports of a person climbing a steel powerline tower. Investigators later learned the person was trying to take a selfie. While the top of the tower contains a powerline with 57,000 volts of electricity, it’s unclear if the person actually grabbed it or if the powerline arced while the person was on the tower, officials said.

PF&R said in a turn of “incredibly good luck,” the individual was conscious and alert after falling into some bushes below. The person was walked to a nearby ambulance and transported to a trauma center to be evaluated.
Authorities said this is a reminder that it’s not worth it to put yourself in dangerous situations for the sake of a selfie.

This "person" nonsense is setting off my troondar, which makes sense because while I can't imagine a woman climbing an electrified tower just for funsies, I can't imagine a non-troon man taking a selfie either.

I kind of wonder if the person lived. The nasty thing about electrocution is if it went through you, then you might be talking at first... as your internals slowly turn septic and die from the electrical burn.

Nasty, nasty way to go out.

@a hapless toad just because they're walking the day of, doesn't necessarily mean they'll be alive a week later. It's slightly terrifying what the human body can do under adrenaline. I knew of a guy (heard about it and was read the incident report after it was done) who took a face full of high pressure steam to the face, climbed out of the bilge of the ship, climbed the equivalent of 7 stories of stairs to get to medical, and died in the helicopter that was medivacing him off the ship, because his lungs were completely boiled.

And going through electrical safety classes, I've seen some pretty gnarly pictures, where you see the progression from "eh, not so bad", to "ew, that's nasty", to "oh god, no", to "the patient died". Frequently they were copper thieves who weren't lucky enough to die from the initial electrocution.
