Didn't see much of a thread regarding all the fine antics of Portland and the people who live there, so I thought to make one.

Lesbian bar shuts down one week after opening because they weren't woke enough​



Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.” Similar to the story I wrote a few weeks ago about the queer-owned cafe in Philadelphia that was shut down by employees for not being woke enough, Doc Marie’s was cannibalized by the woke mob.

The crowd on opening day was huge. One woman said that the line for entry on opening night was “wrapped around the block” with “literally 200 lesbians” waiting to get in.


But the excitement about a new progressive hangout dissipated quickly. Within days, Doc Marie’s found itself on the receiving end of accusations of not being inclusive enough for trans people and people of color. Despite mask mandates being lifted in Portland, patrons accused the bar of not implementing enough COVID safety measures. Patrons also claimed that Doc Marie’s had “culturally appropriative art” on the walls.
One TikToker, who says she attended the grand opening, breaks down the accusations against the bar:


Employees of Doc Marie’s created an Instagram page to echo these concerns. They claimed that the owners weren’t proactive enough in creating a safe space and accused the owners of racism. The employees also demanded that the bar host “free opportunities for education” for the community.

Eventually, the employees demanded the owners relinquish ownership of the bar and hand the business to them. The owners were given a “24-hour deadline” to adhere to the ludicrous demands.

Just five days after opening, the bar announced on July 6th that they had to close temporarily in order to address the cries from the woke mob for a “safe and inclusive space.”

Surrendering to the woke mob doesn’t appear to be working out in Doc Marie’s favor, as the bar remains closed with no public plan to reopen.

Isn't that kind of true though? Weed was a schedule 1 drug for half a century and was widely smoked throughout the country during that whole time. Alcohol was criminalized in the 1920s and people still drank. Fentanyl and methamphetamine are illegal and yet that shit is rampant in cities. I think if someone is an addict they don't care if it's illegal or not they are going to get their next fix. Do I think we should decriminalize drug through? Not at all. I don't think a heroin junkie is deterred by jail time at all.

A vast majority are aware that Things Aren't Working, and think that the local government are a bunch of fuck-ups. But all of that is so dug-in, and the solutions so outside their personal Overton window, that they can't come up with anything better.

Hopefully the switch to the new municipal structure will get some of the dysfunction out of there, but the needed housecleaning can't be done with existing civil service job protections.

Many of them think their city is shit nowadays because it's overran by drugs, homeless, and criminals and looks like an oppressive Eastern European shithole with boarded up windows everywhere. But they then go and vote the exact same way, every single time. They blame it on the loudest and most extreme activists for coming up with bad policies, but then go vote for the politicians who support almost the exact same shit like Ted Wheeler.

Speaking of Ted, he's not running for re-election but the list of candidates are all just as insane like Mingus Mapps (yes, that's his real name, it sounds like what you'd name a stereotypical corrupt black politician in a shithole city). Plenty of diversity hires in the mayoral race, so you can expect the city is only going to get worse because the only thing worse than having a white far-leftist run your city is having a non-white far leftist. Remember, the only parts of Portland that don't look run down with endless decay are the neighborhoods where the limousine liberals with the "in this house we believe" signs in their tiny yards live.
 
Wasn’t Mapps part of the beginning of the “throw the retards out” sentiment? He replaced the certified retard Chloe Eudaly, who was emblematic of the source of most of Portlands problems: progressive white women. Many such.

2015 was when Mayor Charlie Hales declared the housing emergency that allowed unmolested sidewalk camping.

This increasingly seems like the zenith for being a pleasant, walkable and thriving city.

A friend of mine has a very interesting way of finding good neighborhoods. He said he just checks where the highest density of synagogues is in the city, and no shit it's straight up west hills, Tigard, and Lake No-Negro. Plus these days I bet those neighborhoods are circling the wagon in case Antifa comes to decolonize their windows.

I mean the problem is Trump drove much of Portland insane and the insane COVID and lockdown policies radicalized a lot of people who were making it by working in some queer vegan kitchen into methed out homeless anarchists. These guys blamed Trump and Trump supporters for all their problems when they themselves induced this pain. The escalating tit for tat violence had also been rising the crime rates slowly before 2020. The problem with liberal leftists is a perfectly sane and rational person can go into a frothing I mean unreasonable frothing rage over Trump.

Progressive white women are the people who will refuse to listen to the most common sense policy because it sounds bigoted or mean or Republican. These people are almost always the sort of control freaks that make even the moral majority Christians seem libertarian. Which to be fair what you did in your own home with your wife the moral majority types couldn't see or care enough about.

I feel like it peaked a bit earlier than that, and that by 2015 we were starting to see the uptick in homeless already.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A person was electrocuted and then fell 40 feet near Sellwood Riverfront Park Wednesday evening.
Portland Fire and Rescue said they responded around 5:05 p.m. on reports of a person climbing a steel powerline tower. Investigators later learned the person was trying to take a selfie. While the top of the tower contains a powerline with 57,000 volts of electricity, it’s unclear if the person actually grabbed it or if the powerline arced while the person was on the tower, officials said.

PF&R said in a turn of “incredibly good luck,” the individual was conscious and alert after falling into some bushes below. The person was walked to a nearby ambulance and transported to a trauma center to be evaluated.
Authorities said this is a reminder that it’s not worth it to put yourself in dangerous situations for the sake of a selfie.

In my experience almost everyone living in Portland knows to some degree things have gotten worse. I have ardent leftist friends who will slip up and admit they saw some homeless guy shitting outside their work or how they got harassed on the MAX. They know what's happening isn't good but refuse to believe it is due to policies they helped vote for. Then you have a small minority of people with their heads completely in the sand who will swear up and down nothing has changed and that the people complaining about the homeless are reactionaries. This second group was more common during the 2020 riots and has become less and less numerous.
 
Funny because I see far more of the thisisfinedog.jpeg retards in this city than the wimpy leftists who will at least admit shit is fucked but don’t have the balls to break away from the cult and vote different. I “respect” the wimpy leftists more because they at least are willing to admit things are bad and need to change, the majority of Portland though is the extreme Jim Jones cultist types who will almost certainly vote to keep Mike Schmidt in as DA and continue this city’s downward spiral while gaslighting anyone who says different.
 
Leftism really is a fucking cult isn't it? You literally see the city you grew up in go downhill shockingly fast but you aren't allowed to admit to yourself or your friends why it's happening because you are afraid to being labelled right-wing or sympathetic to right-wing views. It's wild man.

Putting a drug addict in jail doesn't stop them them from using majority of the time. They get caught with dope, do a month in county jail, get out, go score some dope and continue to commit petty crimes to feed their habit. This cycle continues for years and years. If you give them harder sentences you are clogging up prison and jails with non violent offenders who really don't even belong there if you don't punish hem at all they just shoot up on the street and menace people. You can't really win. Most don't want treatment or any sort of help. I have no solution.
