I firmly believe that Poppy thinks showing up to therapy = making progress. To really get something out of therapy, you have to be willing to make difficult choices and changes to your behavior. It may take you a long time to do so, but that’s the point.- all point to him having never ever received any decent therapy.
During the fake sobfest, Poppy wailed that the therapist told him that the “rape” wasn’t really rape and that he had to throw a tantrum to get his way with the therapist. That is not healthy therapy.
ETA: the other red flag should be the fact that Poppy makes his partners get therapists in order to date him.
The conversation isn’t “hi, I have BPD, these things might trigger me or I might behave this way. I’m working through it but I wanted to give you a heads up” but rather “hi, I have BPD, these things might trigger me or I might behave this way. Here is a list of therapists you need to go to and articles for you to read in order for you to learn to deal with me”.
