Don't usually post these but it's my favorite mon that I've been waiting years for a video on so fuck it.
Sad part is though, genius GF outright deleted the coverage move they just gave it last gen (Jump Kick), unless they just switch it out for High Jump Kick if CT brings my boy back.

What I'd really like though is a future regional variant, but the idea for it is something they literally just did with G-Zapdos (more terror bird-like with beefy legs, only Ground/Fighting instead for new type combo's sake) so, bleh. Also an actually good ability like Guts or Adaptability since that's always been one of Dodrio's major issues along with its done-to-death typing and (pre-gen VII) lack of coverage.

I want a 'Straya region with regional variants of Dodrio and Kangaskhan, among others.

Even if the game is hot garbage I'd honestly love the idea of more Downundermon.

Maybe even a region-exclusive evolution for some, like that shitty koala with the log or Ariados. Or hell maybe the option to finally raise a baby Kangaskhan.

Unfortunately Dodrio isn’t set to return in TCT. People have already datamined one of the more recent Home updates and discovered that Pokédex entries for some Pokémon that have been straight-up deleted instead of being left blank, a similar pattern that was noticed with IoA’s returning ‘mons.

I'm sadly aware... Though weirdly the moveset datamines tell a different story since some mons including Dodrio got updated movesets for the new TM/TR list despite allegedly not being included in either DLC pack so, idk.

My dream for an Australian region (as an aussie myself) is a Regional Psyduck Platypus.
It would also be a good opportunity to bring back the unused Kiwi pokemon or Doduo's baby form... but that's not likely to happen.

I'm half expecting the next region to be China-based considering one of the last two games apparently had a Chinese village and those panda pokemon too.

That and GF really wants to establish a market there.

I thought that was based on Johto/Japan?

Regardless, I don't think they're going to introduce many more baby forms to old lines any time soon. Two reasons:
1: They're ultimately not useful. They take pokemon out of Little Cup and fill spaces a new competitive pokemon could. While we're in the age of the 70-80-ish newmons, they're not gonna pass out old babies.
2: While they stick to the three-evo rule, it takes out an opportunity for a new final evolution.

Unrelated, but it's something I've been thinking about.

Sword and Shield's maps are designed in such a way that you can never walk over or under another walkable space. The walkable terrain never crosses over itself - any bridges are either low enough to not be surfable under or high enough to be on another map.

It's weird because you could do it just fine in games like ORAS...

Well there's some verticality in the Not!Manchester city. GF liked showing it off in Gen 4 because it was somewhat innovative for the series. Does this discount Gen4 remakes? Not really, but I do think they were mindful during design that Galar was fragmented into 3(4?) zones rather than a united region, and adding verticality would make those areas feel even smaller.

For what it's worth I started playing it again 2 weeks ago because I lost enthusiasm in the first mine. Finished the game yesterday and its not as bad as it could have been. Sure it could be better but I went in expecting the opposite of a fun time and wound up getting one.

My only real complaint (dexit aside,, no way am I paying for the Home) is the game was a bit generous with xp and NPC healing... youd go through a route with 1 fainted pokemon and somebody would just heal your ass completely unsolicited. They even did this bit with the Elite 4, which makes sense looking back but it also meant I bought 20 revives for no reason. I always thought being economic with your resources was half the challenge of the E4

This is just a heads-up but a lot of Pokemon “fans“ on /vp/ are hoping that the Poketuber and competitive communities undergo the same upheaval that hit the Smash Bros. and FCG scene recently.
If that happens I get the feeling that Verlisify will be the only one remaining atop the pile of ashes because of God having a sense of humor

With 6 generations of starters to choose from I guess it makes sense they cut down the non-starter choices to just Pikachu and Riolu. Though either way I'm finding it pretty dificult to choose my player character. I'd just go with what the game picks for me but I know I'd just reset if it gives me a mon I don't like such as Pikachu.
The personality test does say you're a pikachu. So, does that mean you hate yourself?

Mystery Dungeon DX determined I was a Pikachu, does that mean you hate me? j/k

Although wouldn't it be hilarious if you reset it not once but twice and you still end up a Pikachu? Maybe that'd be a sign.

I couldn't decide which pokemon I wanted to be, I'd take the test in Dx, play, and restart because I wasnt happy. I got chikorita 9/10 times. I dont hate chikorita but I've never cared for it because I prefer Totodile (had him for the first playthrough of Silver I can remember in Silver and hes a croc/gator) and cyndaquil is close second. So having gotten it multiple times has annoyed me into not liking it, but I can only assume it's my true spirit pokemon because I was answering the questions honestly. I ended up picking cubone and Totodile as my partner, but in my heart of hearts I know I'm a fucking chikorita.

At least you're something. Every single run of PMD ever has me ending up with a random ass mon whenever I try to answer truthfully because I'm a soulless husk, apparently :(

So I did the quiz and it gave me cyndaquil, just like in Explorers of sky. Guess I'm consistent. Pikachu ended up being the partner it recommended. Though since I didn't want to play as a Cyndaquil twice I just chose to play as Snivy with a Fennekin partner cause I just like Fennekin too. I may regret this cause Snivy's movepool is lackluster, but I just like the smug snake.

I'm not that far in but I immediately noticed how extremely handholdy the tutorial is here compared to Blue and Sky. I know it's pokemon and pokemon is babby game, but I don't remember the first two games literally taking control away from you for certain sections. On the plus side it's kinda funny how appropriate my partner choice was considering he's a troublemaker. Foxes gonna fox.

Oh sweet, I found the rant my friend did of Super Mystery Dungeon last year. In spoiler tag for gameplay spoilers, but it's a warning for Fenneken players.

Imagine not being allowed to grind in an RPG that expects you to overcome a final boss that you can only safely beat (read safely as “this is the only way it’s possible”) with ranged moves is immune to psychic moves, meaning if you chose fenniken fuck you, restart the game, because the only one you learn by then is psybeam unless you somehow had the foresight to take flamethrower as a TM (if it’s possible to get, which I don’t remember) which has a shit PP and in a game where your base non-move attack does next to no damage at all levels (aka it’s worthless and shouldn’t have been programmed in if it’s gonna suck as bad as it does) means you’ll run out of PP like crazy and not take it because you want to maximize the amount of moves you can use before hitting the max elixir. In other words, don’t have the foresight to play the way the game wants you to instead of how you want to? Get fucked! PSMD is going in dry, motherfucker!

Oh, should we also mention that final boss had way too many stages? And all those stages are almost the same thing except they narrow down how you can beat said boss. Oh, should we also mention that if each stage has an unskippable cutscene? And they aren’t short. I lost to the boss and had to watch them over and over and over and over and gave up because the game doesn’t realize that it made it impossible for certain Pokémon you play as.

Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon is not difficult, it’s fake difficulty. The illusion of a challenge. There is no challenge when you don’t have a chance to learn from your mistakes and find a better way to do it aside from restarting the game, which is fucked.

Mystery Dungeon final bosses have always been a crapshoot mostly based on which pokemon you picked right at the start of the game. Choosing a grass type in the first game was always suffering.

I finally beat White 2 for the first time!

As I played through it, I was amazed at how stellar the music was. Together with Platinum's own pieces, I'm floored with how powerful the DS soundchip was.

Game Freak put their heart into this game, and I'm glad I got the chance to play it.

I actually know someone else who mentioned being stuck there as Fennekin, but this gives it a lot more context aside from my initial assumption that it was a water dungeon. Yikes.
