Honestly I think SwSh is getting a bunch of crap it doesn't deserve.

The National Dex thing is annoying as all hell but this isn't the first time Gamefreak has done this (and everyone but me jerks off to gen 3) and outside of that the actual games are a huge step up from Sun and Moon. The Gyms actually felt like a real professional sport.

My theory has always been if it would of stayed a 40$ handheld game as designed people wouldn't of cared, I mean it has some of the bigger issues Pokemon has had over the years, low difficulty, no story, 1 hit KO moves, cut features but they always had those issues.

I think the wild zone and the national Dex did a lot of the damage and feel unfinished and thrown in last second, like nintendo let them know they couldn't port it to the 3DS three months before release. Admittedly the areas outside the wild lands can be beautiful and the pokemon interaction were amazing at times. One moment that got me was in glimwood tangle where one path is blocked off by an impidimp and if you chase after it it leads you to a dead end and a morgrem attacks you. The fact that the even references the pokedex entry was amazing. Or the Octolocs on route nine that were 5-6 levels above the pokemon in the route and acted as barriers to items.

As for the national dex, it was something that pissed the fans off and frankly had no excuse. The models didn't have a huge upgrade the move pool was reduced and the fact that the wild lands routinely update with new Mons and have various weather patterns you had the room to put each Pokemon in an area.

The game pissed of the fans and because fans atacked it everyone dogpiled on it because it was, and always has been, an easy target. I always found it funny when people kept positioning Tem-Tem as the mon killer, it wasn't, and they just showed how little people understood about pokemon. Some of my favorite quotes was how Tem-Tems had abilities, status moves, priority moves, hidden abilities, EV's, Egg moves, Breading for IV's, Same Type Attack bonus and my favorite hold items. People showed how little they actually knew about Pokemon.

So any final bets on the Galarian Form they have been keeping under wraps for the final pop off? I'm betting, Heracross!

Some key insights:

There are two specific things I want to point out from my hands-off demo. First, I noticed that the Pokémon in the first trainer battle were around level 60 - the same as the highest level Pokémon in the trainer's party. Nintendo’s Demetrius Boggs told me that the new Pokémon expansion pass areas’ trainers and wild Pokémon scale with your own Pokémon's levels. Specifically, Boggs confirmed the DLC areas would even scale to match a team of Level 100 Pokemon.

Not only that, but these areas can be accessed as soon as you reach the Wild Area of Pokémon Sword and Shield, just a few hours into the games. So whether you've just started or have already completed every post-game activity and have a full party of level-100 Pokémon, both parts of the expansion pass, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, will match your Pokémon's level.
...
Overall, each of these micro areas seemed to be a little more full with environmental touches like logs or trees than the mainland wild area was. I also saw Pokémon interact with their surroundings in ways I hadn’t before. For example, I saw a Pokémon on a tree branch in the forest. Though Nintendo couldn't confirm how we could interact with this Pokémon, I assume it could be lured down from the tree by whistling at it - like you would lure flying Pokémon down from the sky in the base Pokémon Sword and Shield.
...
One of the challenges involves collecting Max Mushrooms, which are used to create the previously revealed Max Soup which unlocks the ability for a Pokémon to Gigantamax. Though I only saw a single different trial (one I can’t reveal just yet), it reminded me of the minigames you might encounter as part of Pokémon Sun and Moon's Island Challenge, except perhaps less involved.
...
I didn't see the menus for this, and Nintendo and the Pokémon Company couldn't give me any additional information, but I saw two different bikes with different “trails" similar to the trails you unlock for your cars in Rocket League!

The first one in particular is a relief. I was wondering how they'd balance it - for early game or for endgame - because it seemed like it was tuned towards starting players.

Alright so:

  • Pokemon brushing app for children
  • Pokemon Cafe puzzle game for both Switch and mobile
  • 2020 Pokemon Snap
  • Shiny Zeraora G-Max Event.
Also, mega evolution and Galarian Farfecth'd are getting added to pokemon GO, but I don't know how many people in this thread actually play it for it to matter.

NEW POKEMON SNAP

NEW POKEMON SNAP

THAT'S THE ACTUAL NAME SO IT'S KINDA STUPID-SOUNDING BUT NEW POKEMON SNAP

Also, there's some 'big project' they'll be announcing in a week.

Can't wait for the Pokemon Company to make a game about how to shower or use deodorant.

Feels like a push by them to make it so people don't reek of bad breath and eventually BO.

Why didn't Gen 8 look like Pokêmon Snap?

Watch the next mainline game be a tremendous graphical downgrade by the series' own standards now.

We know whose really behind these apps now

Because bandai namco is developing it and not game freak

NewPokemon Snap has caught my eye. I'm not interested in a photography simulator, but graphically it's where pokemon's debut on the Switch ought to be if it came from a somewhat competent developer.

As for the Isle of Armor, dataminers have been quick to work with the new DLC, and have provided a list of all new 'mons, which are available to everybody in the new update, regardless of whether or not you bought the DLC:
They also provide a separate file for pokemon still not available in the game:
So a bit of maths for anybody interested. Base SwSh had 400 / 890 pokemon available. This DLC adds 140.
Added by gen: Gen 1 +42 | Gen 2 +14 | Gen 3 +7 | Gen 4 +10 | Gen 5 +29 | Gen 6 +9 | Gen 7 +24. Then plus 5 additional gen 8=140
#Still missing: Gen 1 -56 | Gen 2 -53| Gen 3 -87| Gen 4 +-59| Gen 5 -41| Gen 6 -30| Gen 7 -25. Total missing: 353
What I want to know is if the next DLC adds well over 100 like this one did, why not just do the final push and complete the dex? I get the real reason is to set the precedent going forward, but they'd be so close and it'd be such a PR win it's crazy.

it's probably because they are saving that PR win to next gen, imagine it, gen 9 they say "we listened and added the rest" despite the fact they already did most of the work for the DLC, it would be relatively simple to finish and have everyone say they are the good guys. but would also promote the hype cycle of that next game.
