My favorite is definitely Cincinno. Little bastard is cute and hits a lot harder than it has any right to. The thing that sold me on it was when I was fighting Ghetsis in Black and they dropped Hydreigon - only for the dark dragon to get its shit stomped in by a Technician Wake-up Slap boosted by an Expert belt. It can't take a hit for shit, but the technician variant has spiky damage while the Skill Link version trades the spikiness for consistent damage and being a flinch machine.

I played the mainline games up until Heart of Gold, which was a masterpiece and everything I wanted in a Pokemon game and I was in college by then so I quit at the peak; though I occasionally will download an emulator romhack to waste time.

If you ever want to play one of the games again I recommend Black or White. Starters are weak, but that Generation really was a good one.

However, I also have to give an honorable mention to the creepy cyclops-reaper, Dusknoir. At first I wasn't a fan of the design, but then went ahead and evolved my Dusclops in Diamond, then I slowly warmed up to the design. Add in the fact its a Ghost type with high Special Defense + Attack made it a natural counter to the Gengar/Alakazam/Gardevoir spam my friends were running sophomore year of high school, and this dark abomination climbed its way into my heart:

I've never tried out the Duskull line, but I came to love Dusknoir thanks to Explorers of Darkness. He was just so creepy in it, I loved it.

Speaking of, did anyone ever have any trouble with Darkrai? I feel like I was the only one in which Darkrai hardly did anything because he just stared at me. Primal Dialga, and I think also Palkia was more hard than the final boss. It was weird.

The boss itself isn't much of an issue, the problem in general with that battle (or the dungeon itself) is Cresselia. Not only is she really weak compared to your own team, she's useless against Darkrai, and ends up being a Reviver Seed drain, and if she's defeated with no Reviver Seeds, it's back to the beginning with you.

Do you all know if Miramax still owns the Pokémon movies they distributed in the United States and if so, would Paramount make them the owner since they bought their library?

Would you guys say MDDX is worth buying? I've always enjoyed them well enough based on gsmeplay, though the writing usually has me rolling my eyes by the 20th time your brain dead partner repeats some obvious fact like he just discovered air for the first time. Is the gsmeplay solid? Graphics okay? Is my boy Gallade in it since it appears some of the post Gen 3 evos were added?

Gameplay is somewhat the same as other PMD games, a big difference is that there's no regular attack any more, when you press A it either does an attack to waste a turn, or it uses the move that will deal most damage to the enemy in front of you (or the only move that can reach it, like Flamethrower if it's 4 tiles ahead or Blizzard if inside a room). You also need to press B while moving towards teammates to swap with them, but this was in Super, so it's nothing new. IQ skills are replaced with Rare Qualities, and Pokémon can only have one, and they're random, obtained through eating Rainbow Gummies or DX Gummies, with the latter guaranteeing a Rare Quality. In general they're rather good, some better than others, and they apply to your whole team inside a dungeon, so that's pretty good. Orbs can now be used against bosses too, but to make up for that they're much rarer. One big problem is the fact the game autosaves with every action, which means if you die, you lose all your items and money, and this time it actually sticks, so if you get screwed in multiple dungeons in a row, you'll have an uphill battle when it comes to progressing/recovering.

Graphics are okay, the environments look pretty good, but whether you like the artstyle or not is subjective. I personally do, it tries to imitate the artstyle of the various artworks that the main menu always had in the background and it works nicely. The problem are Pokémon's models, they're much simpler than the main games' because the game uses Unity, and it's especially visible in quadrupeds, where some bones that really should be in them are removed. Animations are also pretty simple and bland, the Pokémon don't look very lively and instead look kinda static because of that. It's another example of 2D sprites being better than 3D models, which is a horrible trend in Pokémon now.

Gallade is in it, yes. You need a male Kirlia (obviously) and Evolution Crystals, which you'll only start getting in the postgame dungeons.

Is it worth buying? Well, if you enjoyed the original Rescue Team, you'll probably enjoy this one. I've played every PMD except for Gates, and I've enjoyed this one. Thankfully the autosave thing hasn't screwed me over yet, but that's because I hoard Oran Berries and Reviver Seeds, and always start a dungeon with 3-5 of each as well as Apples and Ethers/Elixirs, and always an Escape Orb in case it ends up all going really badly.

I believe it's Lionsgate now.
Lionsgate was distributing Miramax titles after Disney sold them off before Paramount bought a 49% stake in Miramax last Friday though, so I’m wonder if they still have rights to those Pokémon movies. Unless they bought them back.

My favorite Pokemon is the slick, slender sandstorm-serpent Flygon. Something about the design, the colors, the eye shields: I love it!
I also dig the Speed + Attack combo, plus being Ground it gets STAB for Earthquake (meanwhile most Dragon types are also Flying, so its not like Flygon is losing much by being double-weak to Ice).

Dusknoir is great! He’s slow as all hell, but he can afford it because he can take a shitload of hits and keep fighting.

As for my favorite, I guess it’s a tossup between chandelure and Alakazam. I like set up damage over time status effects a lot and Chandelure is great for that since he can learn a good variety of them, and he can learn hex to boot. Also his design is rad. Alakazam’s been my favorite since I was a kid because he looked mystical and shit, and now that I’m older I like him even more since he can learn a whole bunch of moves that can completely fuck up the strategy of anybody you’re fighting against, which is perfect for me.

Anyone else remember how you could change a pokeyman's colors in Pokemon Stadium (not the GS one) by renaming them? I don't know if you can do that in the GS one because shinies became a thing.

They've never played dungeon crawlers in their lives, I take it, or don't like it when Pokémon tries new things.

Or it's "too hard" for them 'cause you have to strategize your inventory and have luck on top of that to get through dungeons. Because it's not like Pokémon has ever been versatile to challenges, self-made or otherwise.
What is wrong with these people.
I loved Mystery Dungeon as a kid. It was the most intense shit ever to be trekking through the dungeons that had darkness, where you could only see a few tiles in front of you, never knowing when you'd come across the next apple when food supplies got shaky, the total "oh shit" moment when you found yourself in a monster house. I felt so accomplished when I could look back and see that I worked through longer and longer dungeons until I could smash through those 99 floor beasts with confidence. Those games really taught me how to prioritize and to pick my battles wisely.

Since I'm talking about PMD, I have to ask. I had Blue Rescue Team and the IQ thing that let you dig through walls. Rarely I found items in the walls, not behind the square walls that scream "treasure here", I mean walk in a wall and see the sprite appear as soon the tile became walkable floor then disappear a nanosecond later because I picked it up. Did anyone else see this shit? There's no info about it online. I called it a glitch because it didn't seem like something that's supposed to happen.

How is your bull, garchomp, treating you?

No, I don't think that was a glitch. Was this in Buried Relic? Because PMD DX straight up mentions this, and when you use X-Ray Specs in that particular dungeon, you can indeed see items inside the walls that you can only obtain if you have the Rare Quality that does the same as the IQ skill you mentioned. As for no info about it online, the Bulbapedia page for Buried Relic mentions "buried items", which should mean the items inside the walls. Unfortunately Serebii only includes the most basic info about the dungeon in the original PMD's page.

Yeah. Nothing beats taking a Shadow Ball to the face from a Gengar and surviving it just to watch it get BTFO'd by a Shadow Claw because of virtually non-existent defense.

Yeah I don't have anything against Alakazam (Or Gengar & Gardevoir for that matter), its just that my circle of friends circa 2008 all played at least one if not two of the three, so Dusknoir was a natural salt machine with the type + stat match up.

I haven't played much post Gen4 but I remember Alakazam + Focus Blast being a game changer for a bunch of Dark types.

I actually love Garchomp's design.

I am a little sour it stole Flygon's dragon/ground thunder though. Not sure why Garchomp is even ground to begin with?

Dusknoir can't learn Shadow claw (unless that changed in the recent generation). The physical ghost type move it can learn is Shadow punch.

Really? I could have sworn it learned it naturally as Dusclops?

EDIT: Yeah, no, you're right. Just checked Bulbipedia. Feel free to rate me autistic.
Its weird because I remember the fact it doesn't miss but for whatever reason I visualize the Shadow Claw animation

IIRC the reason why the Mewtwo Returns DVD couldn’t be reprinted was because of licensing issues relating to Miramax.

So to anyone interested, I have a perfect IV Milotic I'm looking to give away. It's completely legit and was a gift to me from a "friend" years back. And now it's nothing but bad memories to me; nor do I have any desire to use it. Seems like a waste to just release it or trade it to some random stranger.

If you have a gen 6 game (X, Y, AS, OR), it's yours. Just DM me for details. (Can't trade to anything else; I will never waste money on the "Bank")

Do you mind giving us a little more insight as to why it's bad memories?
