You don’t have an Etsy store do you? These are great.
You're the third person to ask this today. I didnt realize how much people like these.... I will see about setting one up. For now if you (or anyone) wants to shoot me a private message I can send you my ID on discord. I'm not even sure where to price or begin with this.

I've gotta hand it to them, they're being extra sneaky with all these paywalls. First it was the returning 200 mons technically being free, now it's Home (and the GTS) technically being free. Just enough bait to get people to defend every money grubbing tactic they've been pulling off. Seriously, go through any comment section and that's one of the first excuses they pull up. It's genius.

So it seems like Home Basic is pretty much just meant to be a transfer system, and home full is meant to be a full storage.

For a transfer system, it’s a functional amount. You can get Pokémon through it pretty quickly, and... that’s about it.

For the full thing, it’s 10 dollars more than bank for double the storage+mobile access for trading and all that. Up to you if that’s worth it.

$1.25 per month.

If you’ve got a living dex or less, get around it and don’t pay. Transfer your mons through to SwSh, there should be just enough space for a living dex.

one flaw with that line of logic

Bank is free for a month but basic cant transfer from it. so if basic is intended as a transfer service, you still need at least one month of premium

Hmm. I interpreted that as allowing for freee transfer from bank. But I’ll admit your interpretation is more plausible @rotollo.

You can't put a living sex in switch? How big is the rock you've been under?

Bleh, poor choice of words.
Sword/shields max box size is 30something. So theoretically you could put a living dex worth of mons in there.

My thoughts on it Home right now:

Eh. It seems alright for now. Understandable for some to be upset that they have to cough up some more cash if they either:

1) Want to bring their Bankmons over to it

or

2) Want some more room for their Across Generation Living Dex (or AGLX)

Although seeing as getting premium will give you both of those and that I, with many others, aren't all that interested in making one of those any time soon, I'm not too bother by it. At least you don't have to ditch your Bankmons (for a price, sure, but that's beside the point).

My issue with the whole "GTS" thing is very similar to the nintendo switch online app being the only way in some games to use voice chat instead of just directly through the console itself, it feels needlessly cumbersome

Been doing some thinking. The fact that they specifically are only adding back 200 or so mons instead of just putting them all back when we know damn well it's more than doable (again, people were bringing them back from the dead not even a week after release) is really suspicious.

I wager that, in the end, you really will have to shell out an extra $60 to truly "catch them all" again, because they'll put the remaining 200 into whatever next year's shlock and bank on having them all back as a selling point when they've already nickle and dimed you every step of the way for everything else. These are the same people who used a fucking movable camera (in ONE AREA ONLY mind you), a mechanic that's stock-standard for the overriding majority of 3D games for decades now, as a noteworthy feature worth putting into the pre-release advertising. So I actively expect them to pull something like this.

And there's no chance they'd update SWSH to be compatible with the missing 200 for free by that point, we're lucky they haven't made the pass mandatory for the current returning 200 as it is. They're being coy with "free" stuff for now, but they're already seeing the blood in the water from the whales waving off every little bite on their person, and those bites will only get bigger and more frequent as time goes on. Indeed, with Home going over double Bank's annual price along with semi-locking a previously standard main game feature behind it (the GTS) while tons of people actively, vitriolically defend it, we're already witnessing such a phenomenon as we speak.

And the worst part is, even if we do get them all back at some point, it will be extremely temporary. Then the next gen will start and everything will be reset once more with a very limited pool of mons, and the nickle and dime process will start all over again, possibly on an even more predatory scale than it is currently.

I'm gonna rate you paranoid on the charging for dex compatibility, not because you shouldn't be cautious about these things, but because i think you're attributing their giving the 200 back even to non-owners as a tactic rather than a necessity of going DLC.

In a competitive game, even if players don't purchase a piece of DLC, they still need to download enough that they can smoothly play multiplayer with someone who has. If I buy the expansion pass and you don't, and I want to fight you with expansion pass mons, I need you to have downloaded the data for them. And in a game about collecting monsters, having the data to use them and having the data to battle them is a very small distinction.

This hasn't been the standard with Pokemon, but that's because DLC hasn't been the standard either. Plus, there's every chance that they could just expand the DLC further, at which point the same standards would be expected.
