You know that for every trade you do the 'good' way, someone has to roll up their sleeves and do it the bad way? Like, how good your strat is, is literally dependant on how many people aren't doing it. That's not a good system, just an exploitable one.I said it before and I'll say it again: If your main complaint about the GTS and the reason why you're happy it's gone is "I don't have to dig through countless crap trades to find what I want now!" then you used it wrong. Using the GTS "correctly" means YOU post the trade requests and wait for your request to be accepted, almost all reasonable trade requests that don't involve Legendaries are eventually accepted.
the looker sidequests are decent. that's about it though. and they're short.Do you really go into Pokemon games for the story? Why would you do that to yourself?
Pokémon Home is free to download but it has paid features. It tells you with small text, seems like many people missed it. :/the returning old mons are technically free, but only through other people who've bought the pass themselves, Home (which we still don't know the cost of)
METAGAME IS HERE@A Welsh Cake's avatar has become bloody hilarious, now.
Yes completely a step in the right direction. Really all expansions that you pay money for in games tend to alienate some portion of the player base thats pretty normal. Here's a question for ya'll. Since they're pretty much assuring us the Expansion pass will be the replacement for the third game, how do people feel about it being stacked up to that?
I ask because many people are focusing on the exclusive different side: new plot elements, New Legendary storyline, new areas, new trainers, QoL features, varied pokemon, etc. But when I think of the third game part of that is also experiencing the main game to the point it branches off.
Like Platinum plays the same beats to D/P but also has it's variations to make that same playthrough more varied. Like now you can catch Eevee early on and play the game with a Leafeon, etc. Stuff like that does change my opinion on the third version since it allows for new replay options for the main story. Then when the differences start happening I obviously get more invested since it's new content to me.
I've stated this earlier but I'm someone who generally plays through the story and finishes the game, but never bothers to catch all the pokemon since I like tackling the game with different teams. I'll usually restart a file, ditch my starter, and make a team of pokes I've never used before and play through the game in that way. So to me the concept of a third game is refreshing since I can experience the difference in story but also have new options to build a team with.
Now that the expansion pack is post game content it's a new type of field where we either bring our current teams from SWSH to the new areas and I feel it's a step in the right direction I think it may alienate more people from getting to that point since costs additional money and many people may decide to not even go there.
It's fine to me since I think sword and shields main game is kinda beyond saving, alot of the shit platinum did like adding nuance to cyrus and having looker around which was probably the best story wise addition the series hadI ask because many people are focusing on the exclusive different side: new plot elements, New Legendary storyline, new areas, new trainers, QoL features, varied pokemon, etc. But when I think of the third game part of that is also experiencing the main game to the point it branches off.

You could build on it, but it would take more work then just making a new villain. I like Generic royal *slowly claps after loseing* anime villain, over the post game Sword/Shield Other-kin guys that show up out of nowhere and play the role of Chaotic Stupid villains. It's fine to me since I think sword and shields main game is kinda beyond saving, alot of the shit platinum did like adding nuance to cyrus and having looker around which was probably the best story wise addition the series had
With Gen 8 the main campaign is so bad plot wise and DARKEST DAYS man is such a shallow character I don't even think its possible to build on that foundation
I also try to do playthroughs with different teams every time just for the variety. A third game can be good for this, but the last third game releases were really bad. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon weren't different enough to justify a third release. They still made you slog through hours of what is basically tutorial handholding content all over again for an experience that wasn't substantially different. This style of release did not respect my time. So many people buying these games are adults with outside responsibilities. I'm not a kid at home that has endless hours to spend doing the same shit over and over again. I'm not inherently opposed to a third release that substantially changed the story or some other big twists, but it seems unlikely that's what we would be getting. Hell, there's no reason the existing games can't have a New Game + mode that unlocks when you beat the main story. Here's a question for ya'll. What game did you play? The game I played only had one good route (9).The routes are actual routes and not the straight lines of sun and moon (the caves suck though).
I'd like to just state for the record I called the DLC on November 18.I get that, but it could get worse. Just consider Mario Kart World Tour. It was regarded by several people as some of the worst microtransactions behind an EA game to date.

Mario Kart Tour's Microtransactions Feel Gross In A Post-Apple Arcade World
Mario Kart Tour is a fine racing game. The graphics are lovely. The simple touch controls are fine once you get used to them. It’s overflowing with colourful Nintendo brand polish. Mario Kart Tour is also a free-to-play game with a microtransaction-fuelled gacha collection mechanic and game...kotaku.com
What's to say that the lack of the national Dex isn't just a scheme to eventually sell it back to idiots who will pay for it? The avenues to do it with something like DLC for Zelda Botw already exist or DLC for smash brothers. The weird PR up until this point seems like they are bitting their tounges and I haven't seen anybody directly ask if they have DLC or anything for it like that planned.
You got it right for the most part, except there are free means off getting the cut pokemon.I'd like to just state for the record I called the DLC on November 18.
There are free means for old fans and freeish means for new fans. Bottom line is there are hoops to jump through to get them free which will result in people coughing up the $30 for a dlc pack. You got it right for the most part, except there are free means off getting the cut pokemon.
I don't think so. I assumed it would be yearly like bank but who knows. I dont think yong is looking too closely at this, he's just covering it because it's the sort of thing he's expected to cover.Hey quick question, was it ever stated that Pokemon Home was a monthly service?

“I'm sorry, but what? When was it announced that Pokemon Home was going to be a monthly fee based system? Did I miss something? Cause Yong, what the hell? If you're basing it on PKM Bank, that's a YEARLY SERVICE. https://t.co/gLV6JPxEUX”twitter.com
route 7 is good too. but generally they're a bit bigger and with a few more paths to take than the last gen (except the first couple and the caves anyways), not that this is saying much, sun and moon were basically final fantasy 13 in that regard. you cant go anywhere but up. they feel like okay pre-sunmoon routes. nothing compared to gens 1-4, and even 5 or 6 in size or quality, but they're okay. I guess I should have specified they were simply actual routes again and not great routes. I didn't mean to talk it up.What game did you play? The game I played only had one good route (9).
Weird, I feel like Sword and Shield are the most FFXIII-esque games yet.I don't think so. I assumed it would be yearly like bank but who knows. I dont think yong is looking too closely at this, he's just covering it because it's the sort of thing he's expected to cover.

Still, it's sad to think the best routes in this game are only about as good as the average route in previous titles. 7 is no more complicated than viridian forest and that's early game. 9 is a little more complicated, but that's the last real route (slumber wield is just a straight line again). The new late game is the old early game. I think someone earlier in the thread said game freak got scared of japanese players complaining about getting lost like they did in gen 4. I bet that's what happened. I don't see how that's a bad thing, it's an adventure through the wilderness it SHOULD feel kinda mazey. 5 and 6 were more linear as a result and then 7 was just on rails until you beat the island kahuna. this feels like a tiny step back in the right direction. I'd like to see the next game be one big sprawling series of wild areas with complex forests and cave systems to get lost in. maybe some ruins or buildings to enter. I doubt we'll get anything like that though.
