Guess that microsoft partnership went well
Not looking good
Eh, the joycons tends to go bad after a few months. But this is the result of someone getting a few important lines of code wrong and overclocking the system with the graphics.
Is that joycon drift really that common? suprsingly I had my switch for the past 2 years and I never had to deal with it

It's caused by dirt accumulating under the sticks. There's an way to fix it...but doing so runs the risk of fucking it even more.

It happened to both pairs of mine (which is unfortunate because I got the special edition Smash ones). It was likely influenced by Super Mario Party as well though... fucking stupid game I regret buying it lmao.

Not to derail too much but...

For all users here who have actually played the game, are you enjoying it? I’m seriously looking at getting it despite all of the shit going down with Dexit and that it apparently eats switches for breakfast. I played the shit out of gen 1 Red, dabbled in Black 2 and haven’t really gone back. But I’ve got the urge. Will this disappoint an old fart like me?

So it officially happened., someone decided to set themselves on fire outside a Gamestop, in protest of Game Freak's changes in Pokemon Sw/Sh. Hope he actually didnt set himself on fire. His tweets are pure gold.

Obvious bullshit. There are no news stories of someone setting themselves ablaze outside Gamestop or any other game store. Stories of people self immolating get a lot of attention and spread fast, especially if news sites can get dem clicks by roping Nintendo and Pokemon into the headline.

I haven't played (watched streams like a degenerate) but you'll probably like it. The Pokemon formula works. Just a rip off for the price and the worlds super shallow, no areas like Mt. Moon or Victory Road, Rocket Bases etc.

My advice is to buy it used or pre-owned and maybe wait. This game can not be "300 for a new switch" kind of fun. If you are seriously considering risking your Device just because you want to play the game now instead of waiting until they at least patch it then I honestly don't know what to tell you.

The only way I would consider owning it is at a heavily reduced price and after a few major patches. You could go get Sun and Moon for under 30 each and a cheap 2ds or 3ds to play it on. Unless having it on the TV is just too enticing. I don't know. Do what you want.

Meanwhile the competitive scene is an absolute shitshow just from the new battle gimmick alone. Dyna/Gigantomaxing is so unbelievably broken. You thought megas and Z-moves were bad? Try effectively being able to spam Z-moves for 3 turns in a row, each attack doing crazy bullshit effects like raising stats and even summoning terrains and weather. What's more unlike the past two gimmicks it doesn't take up an item slot, and any given mon can Dynamax so the prediction factor of who's gonna do what is gone. What's more, you aren't even locked into choice items while in that mode.

In short, any semblance of an excuse for "balance" has been tossed out the window so hard it's smashed the entire side of the building off.

So basically Mega-Ray but even more fucked up? Impressive.

I heard that the villain team is bunch of cows, like ADF-level of annoying. And you got the fossils made by retarded scientists.

Kinda surprised that the game is still selling, despite the glitches.

Depends what your play style is but it's decent. It does take some time to get going but once the world opens up there is some fun to be had just running around catching pokemon. It benefits from a more casual approach I think. And as much as the glitches take up a lot of time in this thread, the game is very playable. I haven't experienced any problems whatsoever so far. I am playing the physical version though.

That's not to say it's perfect. In terms of the actual game, my main issues with it are the fact that there's a lot less npc's to battle, camping sucks and isn't worth the effort for the hp or friendship boost, and on the whole the game feels like it was designed with new players in mind. I don't know if GF expected to get a lot more new players picking up the game to give pokemon a try now that it's on a home console rather than a handheld, but it certain feels like that was their expectation. It's not exactly a problem, but if you're experienced with pokemon games it can feel like you're being spoon fed sometimes.

But I'm mostly in the same boat, starting gen 1, dabbling and sitting out a lot of the later gens and I'm finding it quite enjoyable. Especially if you forgo your favorites and just play around with some of the newer pokemon.

Well it's selling with kids I'm sure. The ones running around defending the game are the adults who play. Parents aren't following video game news and don't know the game could mess up Johnny's new switch lite. Any GameStop, Walmart, Best buy, Target employee is not going to tell the parents that even if they did know about it.

I get the feeling that some of the vocal defenders of it are trying to take whatever success they can to make a point. Like this guy:

All they have so far is UK sales data but they are treating it like a victory lap over those "darn dirty haters". This guy is having so much fun playing his game that he spent hours making a YouTube video to complain that people don't like his new favorite game instead of playing it..... That is if he is even playing it. I'd be interested if these die hard defenders started posting screen Caps of their play time. I'm curious if the game is a blast like they claim or has this just become some arbitrary culture war for them to try to win.

Using sales as a metric for quality is stupid. SuMo sold over 16 million copies but have no replayability because of the hours upon hours of boring unskippable cutscenes. XY also sold over 16 million copies and are probably the most shallow core games to date. McDonald's is the most successful burger joint franchise in the world but that doesn't mean Big Macs are good.
