Game Freak is admittedly pretty stupid, but even I doubt they would be this exceptional. Even if they did have some the of Pokemon that weren't going to be in the games in the code, it would save them a lot of backlash when the games get datamined and people find out that even those were hidden in there this whole time by just not having them in there at all. Then again, considering all the shit they've done in the past in regards to the coding, it does seem like a place they would screw up in. Feel free to hit me up if it does turns out all of the Pokemon were hidden in the code and I'll take my much deserved L.

The thing I find funnier is not only how he's acting like a victim, but the fact that his fans are defending him like he was literally God, especially considering how if he hadn't made his videos on Sword and Shield, virtually nobody would know or care who he is.

If all the models are literally ripped from the 3DS titles..... don't we know this already? I mean the whole conversion thing to the Switch seems to be pure bullshit, I would be pretty surprised if this isn't a scheme to sell the rest of the Pokemon back to us through DLC. Also the game looks terrible from a visual perspective, so they haven't been working on that shit either. I really do hope that though that the game isn't as bad as it looks and GF is really holding back all the info on the new Pokemon and such. Otherwise this game will be a complete waste of time, though I still may not buy it even if there's some redemption being hidden away by GF.

I meant it more as the Pokemon that aren't actually in the games as useable Pokemon, but rather they're there as say models that are hidden in the code, kind of like the running animations in SM, if that makes sense. The games do look pretty lackluster graphically, and I was originally thinking the rest would be added as DLC, but since apparently there's no plans to add them in at all, I'm guessing that kills that idea unless Masuda was just lying to make the DLC announcement a surprise or GF changes their mind later. I'm also hoping that they really are hiding other stuff for release, since if what we've seen is essentially all we're getting, I'm probably going to skip these games as well.

The real prize would be if every Pokemon was still in the coding in some form or another. Just imagine the absolute perfect shitstorm if that were the case. I doubt it since at that point why give up halfway through, but you can't put anything past GF.
IIRC that actually happened with LGPE but a majority of the data for missing Pokemon remains unused while the models and textures aren't even present.

I understand people's frustration with this, but I don't know why I can get myself to care about the bad graphics or sprites.

I think it's because every Pokemon game to date has had shitty, goofy graphics. They're have been huge improvements from game to game, but the graphics were never outstanding, and that's fine. I don't go into a new Pokemon game with the expectations that it's going to look like Death Stranding in 1080p or even along the lines of something like Breath of the Wild. At the end of the day, Pokemon's a game where you catch a bunch of cute critters to beat the shit out of other cute critters.

The people who are boycotting the game because of a poorly rendered Gyarados or because Wingull don't flap their wings in the overworld screen I think have completely forgotten why the games were so fun to begin, which are the gameplay and the cute critters.

This is exactly why GF will never get any better lol.

I would argue that the people who harp on the animations of Pokemon super hard actually care the most about the critters. The reason why a lot of arguments go back to the old Genius Sorority games on the Gamecube and Wii (Colosseum/ Battle Revolution) are because the Pokemon all have unique animations specific to them that highlight what they're all about, add personality and all that. You don't get that in GameFreak games. The most work in animations I've seen is the new Camp thing they have; its cool we can play with our Pokemon in a small little babby field, sure, but where is that same quality and attention in the battles, the actual gameplay of Pokemon?

I still don't get why and how anyone ever thought an infinitely scaling amount of digital creatures being stuffed into cartridges/files plus the actual game content was going to sustainable forever.

Imo if it comes down to "no new Pokemon/Pokemon games ever again" or "new Pokemon/Pokemon games but we leave out around 100-200 of a selection of mons out each gen/game" I think I know which is preferable.

There's no digital animal im so emotionally attached to that I'm going to go and pitch a fit on a public forum over it not being included in a Pokemon game.

Remember, when pokemon first came out, there were no plans for it beyond generation 2, they didn't expect the amount of success they got. Even then, I doubt anyone would've expected for a quarter of a century at this point, that the games would still be relevant to this day in any regard.

But now you've got people who are acting over emotional and pulling bs out of their asses, serving it to butt hurt people who are 'hurt' because a corporation didn't cater to them. Yes, you can complain about it, but when the corporation answered your cause directly and because you didn't like the answer, you (not you specifically mind you, the royal you) stamping your feet won't mean anything.

Hell, with all the 'gusto' of saying "Don't buy the game!", you know these people will be at their local gamestops on the 14th, cash tightly clasped in their fingers, waiting in line outside with snow coming down, clenching onto their sticky Scorbunny and Sobble plushies - and buy these games.

Oh, they'll come up with excuses - "I'm buying it to review it." "I got a copy from a fan." "Nintendo gave me a copy."

But we all know it, deep down...

it's true.

Any thoughts on that Team Mystic leader “””apparently”” being non-binary?

In any other circumstance we'd all be in at least some level of agreement with that here, myself included. The problem however is that GF cited "high quality animations" as one of the reasons (along with other bullshit excuses like "balance", since when the fuck have they ever cared about balance when things like Mega Rayquaza were allowed to exist) behind Dexit happening, that in order to make the game look better that had to cut the work load of putting all past mons in the game.

That is the real reason why people are looking through every screenshot with a microscope when they never did before. And given how it's obvious they've done the absolute bare minimum of transitioning to an HD system aside from some fancy smoke and mirrors with the battle effects, that's drawn a lot of ire. If they were more upfront and honest about the reasons behind the cuts the anger wouldn't have been as severe, but with how they've worded things with evidence clearly pointing to the contrary it just comes out off as outright lying to our faces.

That's the other part of it, too - they don't really have great balance for thier game. Most (non-legendary) single stage pokemon are not very good in the long run, a lot of two-stage pokemon aren't good either (excluding Gyrados), a lot of pokemon that evolve early (most bugs) aren't super viable long term as well.

Even if you have a good stat base, there are some types that are just basically better than others (Psychic, Metal, Dragon, Ground come to mind) and your pokemon needs access to good moves that use it's stats (physical moves use pATK, special ones use sATK). Once you approach it like that, there aren't exactly tons of pokemon that are viable.
My Galvantula would like to have a few words with you...After it gets done spitting electrified web at my cat.

We haven't gotten actual third versions since gen 4 (BW had sequels, XY got nothing, and with SM they slapped Ultra into the titles and called it a day), so I really don't get why some people still get their hopes up for them.

Anyways because I'm a sucker and need more games for my Switch I'll give one of the new games a go, but I can't decide which one. Usually I always have one game each gen I favor over the other for whatever reasons, but nothing's really pulling me over to one or the other side this time.
I guess I'll just flip a coin when the day comes.

Believe it when I see it. Japanese companies usually don't try to make political statements in their games though.

Strong doubt sounds like the usual Tumblr/Twitter shit of slapping labels on characters because of the insecurities the person and group who is spreading this rumor.

Toby Fox got to compose a song for the game! And yes, this is real:
