Given Game Freak's propensity to hold stuff back until secondary games/remakes, I guarantee you not patching in the rest of the mons later on has anything to do with it being "too hard." It's all about sheering the sheep as much as possible.

It's already been brought up here multiple times but it bears repeating how it would be just like them to put all if not at least most of the back for whatever the next set of games is, and treat it as either this "new revolutionary feature" or that they've "listened to the fans" to make themselves look good.

They've already done something similar to this before with both megas and Ultra Beasts. ORAS received new mega stones that could not be traded to X/Y or even be used to battle with someone who was on one of those games in an online battle. And USUM took this a step further with new Ultra Beasts with the exact same restrictions. So it wouldn't surprise me in the least that they'd stoop so low as to hold old mons hostage as a bargaining chip.

...Ok, if I were Masuda I'd just say fuck it full steam ahead because there's no way that's real.
Sadly it’s real and some people in the #bringbacknationaldex are claiming it’s either justified or is trying to cover up.

Well, now we're definitely not getting the National Dex back.

Sadly it’s real and some people in the #bringbacknationaldex are claiming it’s either justified or is trying to cover up.
Thankfully, most people seem rightfully pissed, and calling it the blatant slander that it is.

Pokemon is such a cultural monolith in millions of people’s childhoods that I forget it’s susceptible to developer blunders and fandom insanity just like any other franchise. At some point we were all just kids battling mons on our consoles and now look where we are.

But just like any kid, they'll get real pissed when their parents their toys are taken away.

Only with Pokémon games, it's frequent and lasts forever.

Hey, remember when the biggest pokemon drama was that dude selling his shirt design and them taking out the custom shirt design a day after they announced it?

They have not had a good few months.

Well if there's one way to fuck up your movement, this is it.
Either someone is doing it for attention, they think it will actually help somehow, or it's a false flag from the white knights. All three are exceptional reasons and I don't doubt any of the three being the reason.

Apparently there's another instance of the movement getting out of control with people pestering masuda about the national dex when he made a tweet congratualating someone for their marriage.

I remember someone calling people who didn't agree with the hashtag battered wives, and referred to Gamefreak as jews.

As a side note, what's the jury on calling pokemon 'mons'?

I always found it to be... Strange. Thoughts?

I saw that. Kinda stupid and completely pointless. Masuda may be the reason for the decision but his personal life has nothing to do with pokemon. Then again, you can't stem the hand of an angry man so easily.

I find it to be lazy shorthand but it does make sense even then.

Is it bad that I think this is kind of funny? I mean obviously I don't believe there was any sexual assault but c'mon this is some funny shit.

Nah.

Have your fun.

But for some people...

Edit:

So now apparently the #fireMasuda is a now a thing.

I feel like the Espurr picture is now more appropriate.

I can't but suspect that someone did the rape accusation on purpose as a defamation tactic. People have become so vitriolically autistic in defending GF's boneheaded decisions and putting down the "evil entitled gamers" that dare to ask for higher quality out of a gazillion dollar company that it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest that they'd pull a stunt like this.

I dunno man, we live in a time where people are complete idiots. This is the generation where you got people who do make up fake allegations like this just to get attention. We've seen this.

I'm not saying the possibility isn't there, but remember we live in the times of professional victims, especially when you can make a career out of it.
