I gotta admit, after in real life calling my coworkers stupid for leaving the dining room to go into the forest to search for Magnemites, Voltorbs and Zubats, when Pokemon Go came out two years ago, I might have to finally join the dumb bandwagon since I am also getting an iPhone for my birthday (my first smart phone, believe it or not).

It would make sense since I am definitely gonna be getting Pokemon: Lets Go Eevee.

After some digging, I found many interesting move-pool differences in the G/S Beta compared to the final version:

-The Chikorita line gets Sleep Powder. In the final version they only get Poison Powder and Stun Spore
-The Mareep line gets Hypnosis. Possibly a counting sheep reference, depending on whether of not the phrase exists in the Japanese lexicon or not.
-Murkrow not only got Spikes for no real good reason, it was the only Pokemon that could learn it at all.
-The Houndour line gets Bonemerang. They do have a skeleton motif, Houdour even has a spine on its back sprite unlike its final design
-The Qwilfish line gets Thunder Wave. While Qwilfish got it later on via Move Tutor/TM, apparently it was originally just going to get it naturally
-The Horsea line gets Octazooka via level up. In the final version it only got it via breeding. They also have Quick Attack.
-The Remoraid Line gets Zap Cannon. In the final version they cannot learn either move at all, even via TM.
-Chansey Line got Pain Split. This move would be suicidal on it, due to its massive HP.
-The Growlithe line and Moltres got Sacred Fire. Seems it wasn't originally a signature move, especially since Ho-oh isn't even a Fire type in the beta.
-Poliwrath got Low Kick. While it sucked in Gen 1 and 2(just has the power of 50), It really would love to have that move now, seeing as it lacks any good physical fighting type options even to this day.
-The Gastly line actually gets a poison move via level up(Poison Gas). As of Gen VII, it still doesn't have any
-The Tangela line gets Night Shade, for some reason.
-Unown was not only Normal Type in the beta, it seems that its only move was Psywave instead of Hidden Power
-Proto-Delibird has a much larger level up movepool. On top of Present, it also got Pound, Growl, Powder Snow, Double-slap, Encore, and Blizzard
-Far more Pokemon get Moonlight and especially Morning Sun in the beta. In the final version Morning Sun can only be learned by Espeon(disregarding a few extremely obscure events that very few people even knew existed), and while Moonlight is still learned by a decent number of Pokemon, it's still far fewer that it was initially.

I remember the last time I played Blue years ago (on an actual cart), I did the mew glitch and got mew. My game got minorly glitchy cause it kept trying to evolve my Pikachu I had in my party (PS, Pikachu doesn't evolve without a Thunder Stone). I don't think there was any other glitches. Never got it on camera, since it randomly did that whenever I leveled up. *sigh*
Were you using a Growlithe? It has the same number value as a Thunder Stone, so, if you have it in your party in Gen I and level up an Eevee or Pikachu, it will evolve.

I don't think so. It was like 8 years ago I can't remember. I wanna say no since I remember it happening before I got to route 7 & 8, where you can catch one for the first time.

Is there a regular pokemon topic? I was wondering if people here would be interested in trading and training NU/PU tier teams going by smogon's ruleset. UU can work too.

I mean, this thread isn't just to do with LGE/P, that bit was just added on when it was announced. Before that the title mentioned the release of USUM and will probably next change when official info on pokemon 2019 comes out.

If I actually had pokemon that were any good I'd totally battle you, but I've honestly no idea what I'm doing outside of theorycrafting sometimes.

I'm pretty sure other kiwis would be up for battling, though be careful if you battle @Dunsparce because he is the strongest.

Maybe we should have a kiwi tourney?

I just started playing US again, working on shiny hunting. I'd be totally down to organize a Kiwi tournament. I'm not savvy on Smogon rules - I figure anything goes except legendaries / mythical

I actually forgot how insanely overleveled the gym leaders were in Yellow. Maybe I just suck at balancing out grinding (and Gen I was awful about it), but I only remembered Sabrina having high-leveled Pokemon, not Koga or Blaine, nor even Lt. Surge, so that was a rude reawakening. That fucking Raichu...

I did a double take when I saw that Surge's Raichu was Lv28! But then it is basically doing the job of three Pokémon in their early to mid-20s, so it had to be tough.

Speaking of Surge, it would've been neat if he'd been one of the returning characters in USUM along with Anabelle and that gen V dark type trainer whose name I would never have remembered if I hadnt replayed White recently.

I can think of some rules that are a combination of VGC and Smogon:

-Auto Set to level 50
-3 vs 3 Singles
-All items are allowed except Blazkienite, Gengarite, Kangaskhanite, Lucarionite, Metagrossite, and Salamencite.
-No Duplicate Pokemon or Items
-No Evasion-boosting or One-hit KO moves
-Sleep Clause
-Pokemon caught in any game can be used

The following Pokemon are Banned:
-Mewtwo
-Mew
-Lugia
-Ho-oh
-Celebi
-Kyogre
-Groudon
-Rayquaza
-Jirachi
-Deoxys
-Dialga
-Palkia
-Giratina
-Manaphy
-Darkrai
-Shaymin
-Arceus
-Victini
-Reshiram
-Zekrom
-Landorus
-Kyurem
-Keldeo
-Meloetta
-Genesect
-Aegislash
-Xerneas
-Yvetal
-Zygarde
-Diancie
-Hoopa
-Volcanion
-Solgaleo
-Lunala
-Pheromosa
-Necrozma
-Magearna
-Marshadow
-Naganadel
-Zeraora

If people are interested, I could get things set up.

@Dunsparce I'd be down for sure. It looks like you can set up tournaments through PGL now? Not sure if that's a new thing or not.

The big thing is prizes. I don't want to fight(I'd rather not hand out my FC like candy), I just want to organize and hand out the prizes. I was thinking 3 events for the 1st-3rd place, 1st place chooses among the three, than 2nd, then 3rd is left with the last one. All are Japan-exclusive Gen V events:

-Shiny Extremespeed/Blaze Kick/ Shift Gear Genesect
-V-Create/Bolt Strike/Blue Flare/Glaciate Victini
-V-Create Rayquaza

All three are highly sought-after Gen V events with exclusive moves you can't get on them anywhere else.

Since I have the prizes, what needs to be done next is figuring out how big this tournament can be. Might have to be a small one of 8 or something, since I can't imagine getting enough interest for 16 or more entrants

First of all
Eww the "friendly" rival, the eevee and pikachu get haircuts and can wear clothes/hats, can ride on a fucking charizard and onix, among others. So far it's looking good.

Second Jessie and James will make an appearance

I will be getting this game solely to walk with the pokemon, oh how I missed this feature.

If Jessie and James are there, they might as well put in Ash/Satoshi.

And I do not mean Red. Red and Ash have always been two different characters since 1997.

Pikachu looks like he just got done shooting up a church full of Jynxes lmao
