That gimmicky music player is a glorified McDonald's Happy Meal toy, more plastic shit to fill your living space with.

I hear people saying "This looks good, it might actually be good." to the Gen 10 trailer, but they're just talking about the graphics, we already know what the game will play like, and the fact that the framerate is shitting itself constantly means nothing to them - it doesn't matter how good the game looks if the framerate can't support it.

The new GBA roms have been modified so they're not exactly the same as the public roms. Part of that is now if you put a naughty word in for a name it will ignore it and ask if you meant Red instead. So censored name inputs.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2261430/LumenTale_Memories_of_Trey/ Was this in nextfest and if you can deal with an annoyingly long story intro it's a decent pokemon clone.

The Meowth is just another Fez where every deck will run one.
Besides that Mega Sarmie and the Pysic energy seem to be the only okish cards and maybe Skarmory if Metal gets better.
That’s pretty much all lumineon v was. As bad as 2 prize benchwarmers are, cards like that always end up being staples.

I just realized that it's been ten generations and we've still never had a platypus-based water starter.
You can have your second lizard in three generations, but still no platypus.
What the fuck is going on over at Game Freak.
Gotta save it for the Australia region. Kangaroos and Koalas are already taken, gotta leave the last iconic Australian animal until then.

Did anyone test is "Palworld" is one of those censored words?

I completely agree. Abandoning the pixel art styles was a bad call. Nowadays since AAA is in the toilet, spending several hundred thousand on graphics has outlived it's usefulness, and indie shit like Undertale is enough to cause waves-who cares about 3d Pokemon anymore? I'd happily trade the unfulfilled pipe dream of the free roaming Pokemon BS and relegate it to Legends games and just go back to pixels. If they're going to churn these out every few years, it might as well get streamlined. Maybe then they could make decent games. I think the fan base would welcome it over this recycled garbage.
They could have just decided that "hey, HG/SS/B/W is the best style for our sprites" and just rehash them like they are with the 3D mons. We didn't need a constant evolution in what the sprites looked like. Just give me more buddy pokemon that walks next to me like in HG/SS. Hell, even the photo lineups of your team after you defeat a gym/E4 is more than enough for me.
I will say that Pokemonamie was great, I absolutely adored that part of XY but I also understand that sidecontent like that is hard to do with a pixel artstyle.
They also didn't need to reinvent the UI every so often. I remember feeling a bit of whiplash going from HG/SS into B/W. I'm sure they reinvented the UI several times since then, it's been a hot minute since I played XY so please disregard my opinion on that.
I actually felt more immersed with the top-down style of the old games, roaming around in the tall grass and maybe a patch would wiggle, indicating that here was a guaranteed encounter, compared to the openworld free roam pokemon in newer games. It's probably (definitely) nostalgia on my part to consider the old style superior.

there's apparently Telemetry data reporting in the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen
Called it.... kind of

Guarantee you if these roms sell/play well, they are going to shove more Kanto shit into the newer games. Personally I hope the don't. GF/Nintendo have been leaning on the past gens for far too fucking long.

This is hilarious and a sad dagger to my heart as a former Pokemon fan.
They clearly didn't plan or care all that much about the anniversary, which is fine. They don't HAVE to. Given the state GF is in and the poor reception of ZA and SV, I'm fine with having a lackluster anniversary if it meant Gen 10 would be better. That being said....We got neither of those things and what we did see of Gen 10 is currently being lambasted, so lmao. They failed pretty hard.

Say what you want about Masters, but they have some decent remixes for a mobile game if you like the Pokemon music at all.

Did they patch any of the games to make them...actually playable?
LGPE is an easy skip
I think people are too hard on LGPE. I think they're fun and if I were a young kid, I think I'd love them.

Also, speaking of music, LGPE has the best soundtrack in the entire series bar none. I don't know why they put so much effort into the music, but they did. I don't really get how they managed to convey the synth of Red and Blue so effectively and cleanly in a modern soundtrack, but they did. It certainly doesn't get enough love and appreciation, imo.

>can't even name Gary "The Girth" Oak something funny like "Nigger"
I'll stick with RetroArch and ROMs.

No fun allowed!

Now i see why they don't let you name the rivals anymore in the modern games, Game Freak are so prude and boring they don't even allow you to have fun with your SINGLE PLAYER GAME.
Fuck this company.

figured out what was throwing me off about one of the new designs

can't stop seeing this

MSU-1 conversion of SGB-loaded Pokémon PureRGB/Pokémon Generations/Pokémon Red++ with LGPE music sounds great in my opinion.
Of course, the patches may need to be customised: https://www.zeldix.net/t2191-pokemon-red-blue

Given SV's success, I think us complainers are a vocal minority.
Iirc, someone posted a stat a few pages earlier about how most pokemon fans are older, which means it's mainly returning fans who still buy pokemon.
I doubt GF would do a water platypus, it'd be too similar to that fakemon-turned-Temtem. A flying-type eeveelution was scrapped because it was too close to a fanmade design, so they'll probably want to steer clear of other monster catchers' designs.
Tbh gen 10 is giving me TemTem vibes given that it's a tropical region. I did like TemTem for what it was, but yeah they dropped the ball hard given how much positive attention they had during early access.
...you think? This is probably sarcasm but yeah, we most certainly are.
Even though we definitely are a minority, I don't think we're a small minority. I've seen even "mainstream" poketubers criticize modern pokemon a good amount.
